I bought these shoes with the expectation that they would have great cushion, as advertised. After taking them on a few 10K runs, my feet hurt midway through my runs. But worse than that, my knees also hurt. I have used other brands, Hoka, On, at this price range with similar characteristics, and I never experienced the same. It's the second pair of Brooks shoes I have tried, and probably my last. Honestly disappointed.

Just ran my first ever half marathon in these 2:14. Running in the Columbus full marathon Oct 15. It will be my first marathon. I wish I had the money I'd buy another pair to wear in the marathon.

They are lightweight and very sleek. And I work in a hospital , so they definitely give me more bounce. I love the fit and funky colors.

Light weight, cushioning, good fit on my feet. More support and cushion than the Hyperion Tempo. Good trainer for daily runs including fartleks and long runs,

Picked up a pair Monday 8/14 from my local running store. I love how light they are and the feel of them. However, after 3 runs total of 19 miles already getting a bald spot in the tread. When I say bald I mean tread blocks are worn down smooth with the sole.

This is an excellent running shoe! I am 61 175# and wear size 10 shoe. My feet are fairly narrow and I have neutral foot mechanics. This shoe fits me perfectly and is stable and very light and highly cushioned. Best running shoe I have ever owned. My only complaint - and its minor - is that the heels are a bit weird, and seem to rock you backward when standing. This isnt apparent when running though. Great shoe!

Havent done reviews for years because they dont seem to matter to the companies, but will do for these Hyperion series shoes. Bought this shoe only because I had gift cards and wanted a neutral shoe to add to my battery. Im a stability only runner, but use neutral to change up workouts. Expected very little from this shoe. Mind blown. If you are not running in a nitrogen foam you are wasting your time. This shoe is incredibly light dont be deceived, they are very cushioned. I can run as good or better than any stability shoe Ive ever had, my guess: the foam. I think when my foot rolls inward the foam pushes right back out in the same direction acting like a stacked midfoot of arch support. Also, I am a heavy runner, so I know this foam has bounce and is live and loaded. Add to this the great fit with the flat laces that feel like its impossible to over or under tighten, this is usually a problem for me, and these shoes are incredible. My only improvement would be the traction. Thank you Brooks for the DNA Flash Foam!

Heard wonderful things. Upon using they were uncomfortable. Zero cushion and zero support but yet you chose to lack that to make them speed shoes. Ha

Very light and responsive shoe. Mainly used for long runs or speed training. I rotate it with Glycerin that I use on recovery runs.

GREAT shoe. I am getting back into running after a long (multiple decade) hiatus and am training for a marathon. I was feeling some sharp pain in the ball of one foot, and decided to improve my choice of football. This shoe has not only eliminated my pain issue, but has created stability and more confidence for me as I improve my mileage and speed. Highly recommended .

Great shoes. Been running in Nike zoom flys for 3-4 years and switched over to brooks recently. Couldnt be happier. Lighter than expected but dont seem to sacrifice durability, at least to date. Solid lacing. Comfortable fit. Size seems accurate

I tried these shoes over the summer and I dont think the way the cushion is increased towards the middle-back of the foot is comfortable. I started getting sore and swelling around my ankles and I do think these shoes may have contributed. I decided to get a different pair of Brooks that have more support going through the back of the foot.

Amazing running shoe. Just enough cushioning to save my feet, but not too much to where I can't feel the road. I can sprint in these, but 8min/mile is where they feel best. I wear them without socks and they are breathable enough to keep me comfortable with no hot spots for up to 10 miles

I have been running in Saucony Triumph which are highly cushioned and soft. My knee's, particularly my left, have been terrible. Nothing like running with a limp! I bought this shoe to try something different, figuring with Brooks return policy, I have nothing to lose. I am glad I did! My knees quickly stabilized and I was able to run without a brace on my left knee. After about 10 runs with Brooks, I decided to try the Saucony once more. Big mistake! Immediate knee problem on the left. Couldn't even finish a 3 1/2 mile run. Back to the Hyperion Max and knee is better. Unfortunately, Saucony does not accept returns of worn shoes. I will be sticking with Brooks from now on!

This is a good shoe but I would like to see some tweaks to the design. What I like: I like the weight. It's a great lightweight shoe. I like the lockdown. The mid-foot and heel counter is perfect. Great laces too. I like the midsole and outsole. The geometry is perfect. Promotes a great roll at any speed. The stack is just right in my opinion. Not too high or too low. Good traction wet or dry. I even like them on light hard-packed trails. Flexible underfoot. They are a little stiff at first but start to allow for some forefoot flex as they break in. Versatility. This shoe can work for track days, tempo days, and long runs. It's too firm to be an easy day/recovery shoe, but that's okay. What I don't like: If I could only change one thing, it would be the sizing. I'm between sizes in this shoe. 11 is too short and narrow in the toe box. 11.5 is way too long. Open up the toe box and adjust the sizing. The Max runs about a 1/2 size longer than the Hyperion Tempo, but the more restrictive upper is too narrow in the forefoot. The cushion. I would like just a little softer midsole. Brooks could soften this shoe up and not lose any performance. The heel bevel is too extreme. I appreciate some lateral heel bevel, but it's too much in the Max. More colors please. All in all, the Hyperion Max is a good shoe. If, like me, you like a firmer shoe without a ton of stack, the Max is a shoe you should check out.
