My wife and I use this great tote bag as a carry-on bag when we are flying. It is large enough to accommodate what we want to carry while conforming to the airlines' carry-on size restrictions. The bag is well constructed of heavy canvas cloth nothing flimsy or junky about it. Just a great tote bag and a great investment if you travel often! We recommend it highly!

I bought this as a present. It's made of very sturdy material and stitched quite well. It looks like it would last for a while.

This bag was just what I needed for a quick trip. The large size worked well as a carry-on and I knew the tough canvas would hold up to the travel.

I really love this bag, especially because it comes in all black which is hard to find and I love black. This bag is great quality, classy and versatile. I want to buy another but this one is such good quality I probably won't need one for a while.

I love this bag. It is better than I ever thought it would be. It is sturdy and durable. Very roomy and easy to carry. Love the outside pocket for my phone. I prefer the shorter handles on this bag because I really don't carry my bag on my shoulder. This tote can be used in a variety of ways. I am using it as my every day tote. I also plan to take it with me on a plane when I go to Vegas. I purchased the tote with the zip up portion so that I can put more things in it and zip it up and feel like it is secure. Very well made, my stitcher was named Shirley. Comes with a cute little card with who made your bag on it.

I wanted this as soon as I saw it. It's rare to find a boat bag in black and I didn't want to miss out. The bag is beautifully made and I'm sure I will get many years of use out of it. My current tote is over 20 years old and has been on a lifetime of vacations. My old one is sturdy as can be and this bag is constructed the same way. I'm a faithful Beans customer , but black as a color choice is usually limited on a lot of products and clothing. Order it - you'll be happy you did!

I loved the tote so much I ordered a second one. I know that when my daughter sees it she will fall in love with it also. It so great so functional so dirt resistant so tough so easy to fall in love with. I highly recommend this tote I'm sure you will love it too.

I purchased a large zip top last year and have used it daily since. It is perfect for the pool, the gym, the grocery store, kids soccer.. whatever you're doing. I love that it's a solid color and the zip top isn't annoying when you aren't using it. I wish it came in an XL though! I just purchased a medium and might even get another large because they are just so handy. I also love that they stand up and are easy to load plus they are made in the USA. You can't go wrong with this bag.

I have used cloth bags for some time, but was always frustrated that they did not stand alone. I looked several places and some descriptions implied their bags stood alone, but then you read the reviews and realized they did not. I then read in a review where someone suggested L.L. Bean, so I checked and found bags like this one, only without a zipper, which was not offered at that time. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but I ordered one each of the medium and large bags, not knowing which would suit my purposes. The medium was great for my work and everywhere bag taking the items I need with me and the large is great for going to the grocery store or when I need to haul more items. The only downside was no zipper closure at the top of the bag, and the fact that all they offered was a white bag with various colored straps. Then late last year I seen an add for L.L. Bean and seen they now offer both a zippered top and bags in colors other than white. They were out of the color I wanted and would be backordered a couple months, but I my wife wanted on in a color she was ok with, so I ordered her one, with her initials on the bag. A couple days later I asked my wife it it would be ok if I ordered one with my second choice color in addition to the one I backordered. So, I ordered one like I ordered for her, but with my name. It fills my every need for what I wanted. Still looking forward to receiving the backordered bag in blue.

Gave these monogrammed to my 3 daughters-in-law. I'm certain they'll use them a lot. Thinking now I should have gotten one for myself!

This is just one of the many bags that I have purchased from LLbean. I don't leave the house unless I have my supplies in one of these. Traveling, camping, shopping, and hunting are just of the few things that I use these for. Great all purpose bag.

I love my new tote! For a while I wanted an all-black LL Bean tote and as soon as they offered these, I went ahead and put an order for one in size Large, short handles. It took a few weeks to get it, which I knew it would, not a problem, considering the bag is made in the USA! So worth it. I know it will last me a lifetime. I really appreciate the company making some of their products here, and not abroad. Thank you, LL Bean.

I have many Bean totes in different sizes and I like to get the unusual ones when they come out. This is a beautiful bag. I am thinking of getting the natural for light/white laundry and using the black for dark laundry items. Not as heavy as the standard Bean tote but made of canvas in the same shape. In my experience when this is sold out, it will not be available again.

I got this tote a few months ago and I've used it daily since then. It's perfect for groceries, the pool, hauling stuff around, shopping.. whatever. I like it because it's semi rigid and can stand up so it makes loading groceries super easy. I also love fhe black/black color scheme as it hides dirt really well. I think you will love this bag and use it daily.

very modern, versatile bag

Due to Covid, I stopped carrying my designer bags due to frequent use of hand sanitizer. I started looking for a tote that has good structure, can stand alone on its own and well built. So glad I found this tote. The size is perfect for everything (With Covid, we all carry more items than before). It has a top zipper that allows closure. Love the outside pocket, it's perfect for cellphone. Style is very classic and understated.

I have 3 boat totes from Llbean that are more than 20 years old and still in use. I bought this for someone in CA who did not have a canvas tote. During this time of pandemic, I wanted something made in America (still made in Maine!). Something I really like about the newer bags is the zipper top. This is a great tote for families that bring a lot of stuff with them It lasts forever and is beautiful (especially monogrammed).

Love these bags. They hold a lot and the sides stand up so it's far easier to see inside or to add beach towels, or tablet or whatever. Would love to see the addn of a key leash tho. You had custom ones at one time. I called to see if key leashes were option in those but csr didn't know and made no effort to find out. Sadly Now customs have been deleted.

I like this tote bag a lot, the quality is obviously amazing and the all black color is super sleek. My only complaint is that the straps are pretty short. I'm an average build guy but when I try to put this on my shoulder it doesn't go up all the way especially if you wear a thicker jacket this isn't going up your arm all the way. I would also say that 1 interior pocket would make this tote bag way better. I get that the inside is supposed to be empty so it can fit a lot of things, but just having 1 pocket on the inside for more "secure items" ie: wallet, etc, would make a huge difference. Also, if you are trying to decide between sizes I was able to look at both sizes in person. The medium is def a bit bigger than it seems in terms of space but the large is HUGE. I try to find a tote that can at least fit 1 pair of shoes, the medium can but the large can fit like 3 pairs.

wish it came with the longer straps like the regular editions; that those regular ones had a black canvas option (SO much more functional in the city); also wish it arrived faster than 6 months (truly!).

Wonderful bag, but the handles are way too short :)

I bought this tote for a trip in the near future. When I started packing it, I noticed the stitching was coming undone on the handle. I contacted LLBean, and as always they quickly replaced it in time for my trip. Unfortunately, the monogram stitching isn't the same color as I had previously ordered. It's just not as pretty. However, this bag is a great size and is just what I need. I just wish it was what I had originally ordered. That's my reason for 4 stars.

I love this bag! The color is great and won't show dirt. The zipper top is one of the best features. I prefer a shoulder bag, and also wish it came in a smaller size. But overall, a great bag.
