HIKE FULL CUSHION CREW SOCKS - Does not match description..... There is no "cushion" over the instep like the "Full Cushion" diagram shows, but it is the same thickness as a standard (non cushioned...) sock.....

I used these socks yesterday and liked them. The combination of the full cushion with the forefoot cross pattern of the PhD socks make a sock that is comfortable and form fitting and will likely be my go-to in the future. I've only worn them once and can't attest to the durability, which is why they only got a 4.

Greta for Hiking and bush whacking. They don't get as sweaty as some other socks.

Socks are amazingly comfortable. Extremely well made. Padded so super comfy.

These aren't my favorite Smartwool style. They were uncomfortably tight on the top of the sock where my foot meets my leg and even though they weren't advertised as being a taller crew, they were taller than the other crew styles that I like from Smart Wool. The style wasn't it for me either. I returned them. For reference, I ordered size M and I wear a women's US 8.5-9 shoe on average.

The socks are warm but are quite tight for the size I got. I got the large based on having 11.5 shoe size. It fit perfectly in the foot but the socks were much taller than I thought they'd be for a crew size. The top of the socks were also super tight. I don't have thick calves. I know they'll probably stretch out over time with washing and use but by the end of the first day of wearing them, taking them was like removing compression socks. I guess I'll go a size up next time!

A fresh pair of warm wool socks to start the day is a necessity. I have rotated through different brands and smartwools wear and last longer.

I use these for daily wear here in winter New England. I like them I just wish they were warmer and maybe a bit thicker. The tops are very thin and let a lot of heat out, some of which is good, I just wish it was a bit thicker.

It's a very nice sock, and the wool is certainly warmer than anything else. However I was disappointed to find that the socks only contain 62% wool. I would have expected higher. I understand in order to have enough elasticity a higher degree of other materials are needed. They still are warm, but I suspect they would be warmer if had more wool

Definitely a full cushion sock, would say this is for colder days. One thing I would mention is I always seem to struggle with SmartWool durability.

Just WAY too tight throughout the body. And seemingly pretty thin material for a "hike" classification.

These socks are a thin, strong elastic sock, suitable for summer wear, so that is what I will use them for. I find your website to be sometimes hit or miss for the type of sock. Maybe I will figure it out.

says seamless but there is a bump in the toe area supposed to be extra cushion but it is as cushioned as my regualr socks I don't see the difference If these things don't bother somebody else I would recommend if it would be an issue for somebody else I wouldn't

I've worn Smartwool socks for at least 15 years and thought they were the best available. They fit snug, didn't bunch up, and stayed in place. The "updated" versions now fit like an oversized pillowcase. They fit loose and have significant extra material in the toe area. They changed a great product into something that is less than mediocre.

Purchased many of these PH socks, even before they changed the name. The new socks seem thinner and tighter than previous ones purchased. I order extra large and they still are too small. My normal shoe size is 10.5W and I can't imagine someone with a larger shoe size being able to use these socks. These socks were a good alternative to the thin crew vs. the thick hunting socks, but I'm not so sure now.
