Great jacket BUT..it runs extremely big. I am 6'4" and 185 lbs. - bought an XL thinking it'd be a good fit and it felt like an XXXL. I returned it and bought a medium - PERFECT fit for me. I'm tall and have long limbs and it fits perfectly. I live in NYC so I definitely needed a really warm jacket like this!! No issues

I sit out on my balcony to watch TV and smoke a cigar almost every night. When its freezing, and you are not moving around, you need a really warm jacket! And this Parka is awesome. Super warm and comfortable, and I never feel the wind through it (and it gets pretty windy up on my balcony!). I can sit for hours and not feel cold, even when below freezing. Great layout and I love the pockets and the faux fur liner. Only downside: Be careful - sizes run big. I normally wear an XL and had to return them twice until I got a medium. Even the medium is a little big; I normally wear an XL in every other clotting item! Other than that, its awesome!

Great! Jacket fits perfect, is quite comfortable, yet easy to move around in. Super warm, feels great. Keeps out rain and freezing winds as if they did not exist! Lots of smart pockets and features make it feel like the jacket of the future. One small issue; their sizes do run very larger, so order 1-2 sizes smaller. I normally wear and started with XL, and had to make 2 additional purchases/returns to work down to a M. North Face was great with these returns.

Loved it but runs large, so get a size smaller than normal.

I brought this Jacket because NYC and NY upstate winters have wind chills that can bring the temperature down to -10 degrees F. This jacket keeps me warm above all cost. The only drawback is the weight which can be a bit heavy. However, that is the price you pay for a 700 series jacket. Definitely made for sub zero temperatures and definitely a extremely warm jacket!

I'm an avid ice fisherman that fishes mostly in northern Vermont. I would not even think about wearing any other parka. Super warm, light, wind will NOT cut thru it. Just a super warm Parka. (got to be cold out though) good below 10 degrees but BEST in 20 or 30 below wind chills!

Research environmental geologist; this will be perfect for my work in and around McMurdo in Antarctica. I've used older iterations of this parka, but this one is far superior. The zippers are more robust, the fit and finish are better, and the red/orange color is great for field safety.

Very warm and comfortable coat. Seems high quality. Looks great -- I like the blacked-out logo. I haven't tested the water proofness yet. I'm usually a large, but size medium is plenty big for me (6-1, 185). Can layer fine under it, too. The front pockets are a little hard to access and are not particularly warm, but this is my coat for the extreme cold and I'll be wearing gloves. The adjustment on the back of the hood doesn't hold and is basically useless, so if I'm wearing with the fur attached, it can get in my eyes a bit. Bit of a bummer for a coat at this price point. The zipper works well for me. Overall, it's a quality coat and I'm happy with it.

This is the best winter coat I have ever purchased. The coat is a little big however and I would like for the coat to have fleece lined side pockets. Overall, I am very happy with my recent Northface purchase. I am also super pleased that Northface offers military discount on purchases, because I am an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran.

Warmest coat I've ever bought very comfortable, not true to size I am a medium a ordered a small. Must downs size when placing order. Only thing missing is thumb loops and fleece lined pockets.

The jacket is very well made, however it runs very large. I had to purchase 3 different sizes to get the correct fit. For reference my husband is 5'11 and 215 lbs. He is usually a large, but the medium fit perfectly. Not snug, but not too big.

The product runs a bit large and has tons of extra space on the inside. Besides that it's warm.

I live in Minnesota where it regularly is below zero. The week I received the jacket it made it to around 28 below F. I had no issues staying warm. This jacket is the warmest jacket I've ever owned. Only a few downsides. First, it's really bulky, but understandable as it's a super warm down jacket. Second, the zipper is really rough, difficult to zip and unzip even after using graphite to loosen it, and it consistently sticks at the end. Third, the pockets are awesome for storage and are very waterproof, but terrible for keeping hands warm, so you better find some warm gloves or mittens. Other than that, awesome jacket.

I'm 5'10 with an athletic build, I'm glad I took the advice to get a size down. The small fits me, although still roomy. If you're looking for a stylish slim-fit, I don't think this is your coat. I intended to wear this over a suit or other layers when winter camping, so the roomy cut is preferable for me. There's a large gap along the zipper where the down doesn't cover, and that can get a little drafty in very cold (single digits) weather or wind, but if you're wearing layers it's fine. I wish the waist cinch cord was heavier duty, the shock cord feels a little light. The hood is much better than on the McMurdo III.

Lining and taylor are all good. Size is a bit too extreme. S is too big for me even though i'm 6 feet tall.

I seem to need an XS (which is not available) as this jacket is sized on the larger side. Also, the zipper is not very easy to use and I suspect it would frustrate me in the long run

Jacket is clearly high quality and very very warm, but as others mention, the sizing on it is comical for non arctic usage. I wear a men's small for most items sold in the US, but when wearing the men's small expedition McMurdo, I am literally swimming in it. Shoulder seams hang way off the shoulder, too much open air between my body and the jacket, hood swallows my head whole. I waited forever for an XS which never came in stock, so had to look for other options.

The jacket is very good quality however the sizing is off hence the 3 star rating. I suggest taking measurements and calling customer service (they are helpful) for sizing info. Other than that it's a good jacket.

Great parka, but it runs 2 sizes bigger. Ordered M, feels like XL or even XXL.

Ordered this for my husband in his usual NF size for jackets but have to agree with the other buyers, this jacket is really oversized and will be returning. Spoke to the NF representative who was nice but couldn't provide me with the oversized jacket measurements because she had no information from the company. I suggested they should provide a separate size chart for their oversized jackets since the regular one doesn't apply to the oversized jackets. Also the stores should have in stock at least one so you can see for sizing purposes because its a pain to keep ordering online and returning. Its a shame because it is a lovely constructed and warm jacket but as people have been saying you may have to go down at least 2 sizes from your normal size and who really wants to order two to figure out which one will work. If the store had it in stock I'd be able to go over and measure it for myself. Sadly this is going back and I'll be looking at their competitor brands because at least they have those in stock in stores so I won't need to keep returning jackets because who has time for that during the holidays?

Sizing is way off. If you're about 5'10" and approximately 200lbs. Get the XS. Quality is good. Warmth is as expected. Sizing needs work.
