I had purchased 4 pair of Torin 4 and have loved all of them. Well I tried on both models of Torin 5, purchased the luxe, and decided neither will work for me due to the AWFUL design of the TONGUE. Both are too long, too stiff, and cut into my ankle when i am standing. I would not even go out and take them on a trial run for fear of bleeding/ bruising my ankles in these shoes! I will be returning them. Don't waste your money and find another shoe to wear until this model is fixed!

Avid Altra wearer for years & love the Torins, until now. Both the Luxe & regular are great for the feet HORRIBLE for the ankle. The tongues are razor sharp & cut your skin. When you're on a long run, miles from home, the last thing you want to have is an open wound at your ankle bleeding. I scarred from the tongues of the Torin 5s, both the regular & Luxe. Save your money until they put out the next version of the shoe!

I LOVE my Altra Torin 4.5s. Unfortunately, I need another pair, but I can't find any left anywhere in my size, so I guess I have to get Torin 5s. But so many reviews cite tongue problems, with Torin 5s, I'm hesitant. So I see they now have this "Luxe" model, and it's got a different tongue! Maybe Altra listened to the reviews and fixed the tongue!? But no. The Luxe is just a different variety of bad tongue. Pokes into the front of my leg. Dear Altra shoe engineers: Please just bring back the Torin 4.5!

the torin6 was great. the torin7 is too narrow and long ( and wides are way too long) so I was searching for a new running shoe, as my torin6 stock pile is depleating. a customer service supervisor told me the luxe was a marathon running shoe when it is specifically a walker, judging by the website. I was also told that you had women size 5's which is also false. You should have 5's though. I was also told the stack height was zero. Hum, true barefoot running; no sole, only upper? new concept. lol. a customer service representative guided me to another and said the shoes were good to 150 miles. LOL. Can't afford new shoes every two-three weeks. Employees should have a background in running. I need to be contacted by the DIRECTOR of customer service (person over ALL customer service personnel OR Altra upper management ASAP.

Loved these so much I bought 2nd before 1st was used up. Then, some treads disconnected from sole and just flapped around. I thought it was a fluke but the same thing happened to 2nd. Bummed.

Unbelievable you are charging 160 for this shoe. You are pushing us away from buying and recommending to our athletes.

Have had my Torin's for under 1 year. I am a walker; 2 miles every few days and wear to work. I have had continuous problems with the soles coming off. They make a farting noise when I walk. There are numerous tears in the sides and holes in the back, behind the ankles. I have not had these expensive shoes for a year yet... VERY Disappointed

I've been an Altra fan since 2017. They solved a lot of my foot problems including Morton's Neuroma and Achilles tendinitis. Loved these particular shoes right out of the box. They felt like slippers. I chose to take them on an international vacation and after the second wearing, the soles started to peel away. I had to spend the next day in a foreign city searching for superglue to fix them well enough to use for island hiking. I would not buy again. The shoes have been sent back and I am still waiting to hear about my refund as I do not want a replacement.

This pair of Torin 5 is my fourth pair of Torins and I have loved my previous pairs but I needed black for work. The tongue is cheap cardboard that cuts into your skin but the other major difference is that on my other pairs, the toe box is rubber reinforced on the outside all the way around making for a more stable toe box. Torin 5 toe box is reinforced about 1/3 of the way around the inside with cheap cardboard and after one month, it is giving out and not providing the support I have come to love from your shoes.

I love my Torin 4s, but the Torin 5 have a very stiff, long and uncomfortable tongue. Why? Did no one try these on?

I was very disappointed that they were just not wide enough to accommodate my very bad bunions. And I was shocked by the fact that there is absolutely no arch support. Even if they had been wide enough, the lack of arch support would have made me return them.

Everything fit perfectly except the tongue as really long and unbendable so it pokes into the front of my leg. I cannot understand why they changed it from the 4.5 Torin plush.
