I love Altra shoes b/c they are wider and your toes have room to spread out. Great shoe.

OK, so I've worn Altra for quite a few years since my podiatrist first recommended this brand. They seemed to be perfect for my foot health and the need to "splay." It took me a while with hit and miss to choose styles that were suited to my particular needs. I never seemed to have a problem with correct sizing however, only comfort level. Recently, it has become a challenge to get the size right. I've ALWAYS worn 11M across the board pretty much in EVERY brand and certainly every model of Altra. Now, I'm more often than not, finding that 11 runs short in almost every model of Altra. To say I'm annoyed by this would be an understatement, but, I sucked it up and ordered this model in an 11 1/2 since it was available. 11 1/2 is usually not an option but since it was available, I tried it and had great success. For me, these are the best Altras I've had in a long time. Great support, just enough cushioning, blessedly comfortable and the 1/2 size larger gave me the perfect fit. These tend to run wider than other models which is great for my needs.Thankfully the tongue is not an issue for me, so no problems there. On my last visit to my podiatrist when I complained about not finding suitable Altra models anymore, (that was before I found these) he told me that when I finally found a suitable model, to stock up or try another brand. So, now I'm doing that, since for me, this model is perfect. I absolutely love the soft material this model is made of. I tried the leather and those were a no go for me. I kept the first pair I bought of those but sizing became an issue after ordering more in the same size. The same size purchased in multiple pairs was terribly inconsistent. I also found the leather too unforgiving. AND, the tread on the pair I kept, is peeling off the sole on one shoe. THAT, after 2 days !!! At the end of the day, (and this review) I love this model of Altra. We all have different needs but, thankfully for me, these work. Just to add, I'm a power walker and not a runner but a performance shoe for my daily walks is a necessity. At 70, there's a lot of arthritis, especially in my feet, so comfort in my shoes is a must !!! Thanks for these, Altra.

Great shoe. I was worried about arch support since I need that but these shoes are great. So comfortable. I wear them almost everyday to work now. I work in schools with concrete floors, so need good shoes.

The shoes are very comfortable and the tongue doesn't dig into the ankle. The toe box is roomy for wide feet and I love the zero drop. I can't run in anything else. I do wish they had the strap that keeps your foot in place like Torin 4, and the shoe laces are not long enough. Overall, a great shoe. Will buy another pair

These shoes have helped my plantar fasciitis and with the wide toe box, a corn on my little toe has started to heal. Not to mention that my knees & hips feel better! I feel like where have these been all my life?

Loves these shoes, bought them because I've owned a pair of lone peaks for 15 yrs. I got these for a work shoe- I'm walking a lot on a concrete floor 10 hrs a day. I feet stank soooooo bad after a few days in these. I've washed the insoles, changed sock material, changed socks mid day+ nothing. Went back to a pair of chuck taylors and no stink. I had to toss them :(

These are just as comfortable at the Timps, but the tongue sits at an odd spot on the top of my foot on one shoe. It seems to be rolled/ folded in a little and I can't get it to lay completely flat. I have found that the discomfort abates when I wear socks that come a bit higher than the top edge of the shoe (Darn Tough low), rather than the no show socks that sit on the inside edge. This is probably because the tongue is not rubbing on the edge of the sock, but even after a day of wear I can still somewhat feel that spot. I will continue wearing them just because they're so comfortable otherwise and Altra in general is my go to for trail runners, which is why I bought these as other casual shoes for me are usually too narrow or uncomfortable for long periods of wear.

I love these shoes. I love how wide the toe box is, but I don't like the squeakiness of the left shoe. I did call and they did not offer me an exchange. They only offered a few tips. However the shoe still is squeaking. I would like a new left shoe that does not squeak. Other than that the shoes are great.

It seems like the tongue of the shoe is only attached at the top so it is constantly sliding to the side and since I have a bone spur on the top of my foot this becomes uncomfortable as the day goes on. I'm taking them to a seamstress to see if they can sew them on better. Seriously, should not have to do this these are pricey shoes!!

I was excited to buy an Altra road shoe as their trail shoes are amazing. The Torin is lite enough for everyday runs. The wide toe box is why I continually return to buying Altra shoes. My one disappointment is that the tongue does not stay in place, and I find myself having to stop and continually adjust it during runs.

Shoe laces way too short. Heel area very stiff, won't conform to foot.

I'm a walker, 4 miles a day. Bad feet, with bunions and hammer toes. Altra is the only brand I can wear comfortably. The Torin 5 Luxe is the closest I've been able to come to my old favorite Torins. I do wish these had a bit more cushion (Are you listening, Altra?) I love the purple color!

These are the most comfortable shoes I've tried. I ordered 2 pairs, and unfortunately, spent months trying to wear the first pair. It may be because I'm so lightweight, but they are very unstable for me. I've rated them pretty highly due to the great materials and comfort, even though they have not worked out for me.

These shoes are very cushioned and comfortable. I bought them for my mother in law who has foot pain and she loved how they felt. I bought a 1/2 size larger than her normal but need to return and buy a full size up.

I normally wear a 7, but they were out of 7s. I got the 7 1/2 and the fit is good. The wide toe box is great. I don’t think there is any arch support. I use an insert.

My doctor recommended Altra, specifically the Torin 5, to alleviate persistent problems in both feet. I've tried all three versions now (Luxe, non-luxe, and leather). This (Luxe) version seemed the most promising. Unfortunately, after playing around with different lacing configurations and sock weights, they're not a match for me. Even though the tongue has more padding than the paper-thin tongue of the standard Torin 5, the Luxe tongue is far from cushy and still too thin - the tops of my feet were numb from lack of padding after wearing the shoes for awhile. Back they go.

The Torin is the most comfortable shoe I have ever put my feet in. I like that these this version has a little more casual look and is every bit as comfortable as the running shoes. I am not sure that they are built to last but only time will tell. I also like that there was a moderately neutral color available.

Comfortable shoe that fits well. I don't like the mesh fabric upper as much and the more traditional fabric. However, I do like the navy color so it's worth the trade.

I've been wearing Escalante for a few years now. The latest 2.5 being my fave (1.5 least). But the soles do not last long. I've tried other Altra lines but nothing feels like the Escalante. Now the Torin to me feels like Escalante just with more cushion and a more "rugged" sole. The Luxe are hot, will be good cold weather shoe. The Torin feel more Escalante outer. My only complaint is the tongue, on the Torin and Torin Luxe. If they could be like the Escalante tongue, I'd be in heaven (particularly the Luxe, the thicker tongue doesn't give which leaves it digging into my foot bend). The true test will be to see how the sole holds up.
