These shoes are great as far as fit, comfort and durability. However I will not buy them again. The side tongue opening is really annoying and they are difficult to put on. If the opening was centered like normal it would be so much better and I would probably buy several pairs.

I have purchased several Altra shoes in a 9.5 women's. This shoe was a 1/2 size too small, and had to be returned for a 10. There is no back heel loop to pull the shoe on? The tongue of the shoe is attached to one side, no issues so far, still different from the traditional shoe loop. There is a velcro apparatus on the back of the shoe most likely for gators. The shoe in the correct size is comfortable, and I use these at the gym. These shoes have traditional shoe laces, but the material is a little slippery, but the grip keeps them in place.

Loved my Escalantes and love to run trails so bought these to try! I think I'll love them after returning to get a larger size. Compared to ordering a year ago, the shoes now are more narrow and smaller - all the reasons why I left other brands to come to Altra, but now they're following the same path unfortunately. Overall though, they are still above the rest.

I loved the 2.5 Superior shoe for it's springy, cushy sole! This 5.0 model doesn't have that to my dismay :>( It's a good shoe but didn't meet my expectations and hopes. I do like the tongue design though.

I returned these shoes the day after they arrived - a month ago! No word about refund. I've had several pairs of Altra and thought they were great. These were definitely sized differently. I won't order online again. Wonder why Altra doesn't stock the older models.

As a trail-runner, the Superior 4 was my dream shoe. Perfect toe-box and ground-feel... I should have bought 50 pairs. Alas, I can't wear the recent models without losing toenails... I'm not sure what changed, but the shape of the shoe binds my toes and the amazing ground-feel is gone. I keep wanting to love them, but I'm going to have to find a new shoe. I'll keep checking back, though... hope springs eternal and the 4 was AMAZING!

The Superior 4 was a great fit, but the Superior 5 has a stiff rubber bumper along the toe line, making for a cramped fit that smashes my big toes. Low height in toe box, very uncomfortable.

I use the Superior 5 for walking and wearing around town and have worn Altras since the beginning of the brand. With each new owner of Altra the changes have taken the perfect shoe farther the shoe I loved. This shoe has stiff soles and stiff uppers. My feet feel confined. I want a flexible sole and upper, with zero drop and wide toe box like Intuition 1.0. Those shoes gave me my life back.

I LOVE my superior 4's. I have never been so excited by shoes as I am about those. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the 5s. I haven't run in them because I'll likely be returning, but just wearing in the home I am annoyed by the changes. The laces go further down the foot than the previous model, creating pressure points. It's the slightest bit shorter than the previous model, but sizing up another half (I'm already up a half) is far too big. The toe area looks like it'll blow in no time, and based on the reviews it would seem it does. The laces are slippery and like to untie even just wearing around the home. It doesn't matter how loosely I tie them I go numb because of where the laces hit. Bring back the old features that had so many runners loyal to the brand!

There's a major sizing issues with these shoes. I'm a true size 9, so I ordered a 9.5 and thought my big toe was going to pop through the fabric they were so small. Reordered, this time a 10.5 in a different color, and they were like clown shoes on me. Huge! I can't go thru the hassle of ordering and returning until I get the right fit so I'll have to move on from Altra

The last version of this show fit amazing in my regular size 7. This new model the heal seams to get pushed forward causing my big toe to hit the front of the shoe. Old version was much better.

I have 2 pairs of Superior 4's and love them. But the 5's are not as comfortable and I would not purchase them again. I wear the 4's all day, every day but am not able to wear the 5's all day without my feet hurting.
