I have been using Altras for trail running the past 10 years. I have very wide feet, and Altra overall has been the best shoe I can find for my feet, I would definitely recommend for anyone else with wide feet. I began running in Superior Trail, then switched over to Lone Peak. I appreciate the zero drop in both shoes. I really enjoyed the thinner, less cushion of the Superior Trail shoes compared to Lone Peak, but after using a wide pair of Lone Peak, have not got back to the Superior Trail. I would recommend having a wide foot option for Superior Trail to support people like me with very wide feet, to be able to continue using a more minimalist shoe but with a wider toebase.

This is my first pair of Altras. I could see from the photo that these were not going to have thick, protective footbeds, but they are even less cushioned than I expected. That being said, I am keeping them for daily wear even though I'm not using them to run in. I love the toe room. I don't like the padding around the anklethe edges of it are too defined and should be more rounded.not sure how to explain that, but my feet feel the edge of the "collar" directly under my ankle on the insides of both feet. I do get compliments on them, and I think they look nice for casual wear. A good first Altra experience, and I'll likely be back for some thicker-soled trail runners!

I had 10 pairs of the Superior 3's, and I love them. I wore them for roads, trails, 50 milers, and 5k's, and they were perfect. Recently, I had to buy the newest version, and the material in the toe box is too stretchy, and I found my foot constantly moving inside. Also, the laces were the worst. They never stayed tied. I ended up having a bit of a foot problem because of these shoes, and am now back to wearing my beat up 3's. Why can't shoe companies just change the color, instead of changing the shoes so dramatically. All runners are in search of the perfect pair of shoes, and there is nothing more frustrating then finally finding it, and then having the shoe company change it in a way that you cannot even wear them anymore.

Why change?? I've returned the 4.5 and 5s! From structuring to color palette, who isn't reading these comments at Altra? Design team?? Like many, I go back to the "way back versions." Please don't change if it doesn't need changing. The shoes are becoming like many others boring aerodynamic copies. I like the support bands over the toe box. I like the simple color palettes. Lighter doesn't mean functional. Brighter doesn't mean wanted. What is up with bringing the top toe guard down and the terrible stitching around the laces?? How about a "vintage" version. Starting with the 2s and 3s take a 4 and leave everything else out! It's still the best in the Altra line, however if it continues to change without listening to its loyalists..

I run trails. Honestly i like the superior 4.5 way better. I have the right size but just slipping around in them. I have been running on them for a couple weeks. I cannot tighten my laces cause then my feet go numb. Not ready to give totally up. I think the 4.5 has a better grip to it also. Still really like this brand of shoes thank you so much

I bought these for trail running and training for a 50k. They are very thin and so not give enough support for runs longer than about 7 miles. They would be a good shoe for short runs only.

There's a rubber band around the toes that is constricting and uncomfortable and then the material following is super thin. When me feet are in them they start to tingle and go numb. Also a half size too small. Although they are super cute, I would not recommend.

I have loved my Altra Superior 3 and 4s but the 5s do not fit me! My usual size 7 is too small; the 7.5 is still too tight and the 8 is too big! I am so dismayed. I'm tired of sending shoes back, even though it is easy to do. I guess I'll have to go to a shoe store and try a bunch of new styles and brands.

Excellent shoe! Bought my usual size that I wear. I do not like tight fitting shoes around my toe area. These did not fit tight around my toes. Instant comfy shoes as soon as I put them on. I bought 2 pair they were that comfortable. I have horrible time finding shoes that are comfy as soon as you put them on. Feel like bedroom slippers. Walk in them everyday. Loves them!

I'm thrilled to try these on the trail. No more squashed toes. Room for my toes when I run dow hill. So bouncy and comfortable and I love the slate color.

I walked the French Camino in these last month. 500 miles in 33 days. A physical and mental challenge for sure but these shoes kept me safe and comfortable. Not a single blister! The wide toe box and well ventilated material allowed my feet to swell and stay dry. It was key. They are super grippy on all kinds of terrain. I love these shoes!! These were my first pair of Altras and I am sold!
