These Brooks Spartan pants used to be the absolute, unequivocally, tremendously the most comfortable and perfect pants. They were perfect for running in any climate. But now, they've completely changed the fit (way too tight), the length (way too short), and the material (no longer comfortable). These used to be the only pants I purchased for running. But ever since they've changed everything that was good about them, I can no longer buy Brooks. Now I'm in search of something that is what Brooks Spartan pants used to be.

I have an older pair of these joggers (extra large) and they are the most comfortable pants I?ve ever owned. I wanted another pair and noted that Brooks claimed to have heeded customers? advice for a more comfortable, looser fit. Not true. The new model (extra large) is, if anything, tighter and less roomy. I?m disappointed. They?ll probably sit in my closet.

The new version is horrible. Uncomfortably tight through the leg, too big through the waist. Two versions ago they were great, last update wasn't great, but still OK, now, not wearable.

Beware. This is the new version of the Spartan and is two inches shorter and much trimmer, to the point that even skinny runners are likely to find them too small? even the drawstring is too short! The original Spartan model, still available at the moment, is far superior.
