Read reviews and took the plunge. Went to local sports store to try them on and make sure right size. Ordered from the site and they arrived quickly.
Have been wearing them and love them.

I just got the Clifton 8 and this morning I took it for a spin around my local park track. It is very comfortable and stable. It felt very good running with the shoe and I could go for a long run in it. The only complaint I have that the sole doesn't have much traction when the pavement was wet. I found myself sliding around and had to slow down so I wouldn't fall. Still I feel this shoe is still outstanding.

For context: I'm used to minimalist shoes (new balance 10v1 minimus, Merrell trail glove 4 , etc.) Over 40 RN working >13 hour shifts on the hospital floor, Minimalism was fine for a while but I'm looking for some cushion so I went to Hoka One One.
The Clifton 8 was too much cushion for me. Felt boggy in a disorganized way, heel slipped laterally with each squishy step. Midsole was too tight for me and the toe box was smaller than I'm used to, but I'm used to Altras. I had to send them back. Worried I'm going to fall walking on marshmallows.
Positives: True to size. The back heel design was well-made. The best I've seen. Supportive, cushioned but firm and the pull feature seems durable enough to last the life of the shoe. The shoe is very light. Breathable up front and it looks great. I'm going to try the Hoka Bondi's to see if a little less cushion would make it a perfect shoe.
I'd also recommend:
Altra, New Balance, Merrell, On.

The size was just right for my wide foot. My problem with this shoe is the cushioning. I don't like walking on so much foam. Feels like I am walking in sand. Other than that, it is great and probably a great shoe for most people.

The shoes were extremely narrow compared to regular Brooks and Saucony running shoes. I normally don’t require a wide width shoe but have ordered another pair to see if wide is better. I hope so as these shoes certainly felt supportive and cushioned.

Love the light weight feel. But worry I will have knee issues. Shoes dont seem to absorb the run.

I like this shoe a lot. The color-way, cushioning, breathability is all great. My only complaint is the lacing/shoestring. Feels as though the upper is too much material and the loops for the laces are not far enough apart from each other, making the lacing to narrow and the fit feel a little loose/ hard to get right. As a result the shoes string itself becomes really long as I try to tighten the shoe to fit my foot better and kinda becomes an annoyance. Maybe if the loops that the shoes string ran through where just a little farther apart it would fix this problem. Other than that small complaint, I love the shoe and would probably buy it again

Third time purchasing cliftons. Near the end of their life cycle the upper separates from the sole on the midline aspect. Hopefully have fixed it this time!

As advertised, you definitely feel the lightness, midfoot support and the step in cushioning. Wish it had more arch support and heel-to-toe drop though.
4 stars as i haven't used it enough to see how fast/long the treads wear. I've seen reviews of other models wearing out fast

Ordered these for a upcoming trip. Shipped quickly. Worn all day to break in. Sizing was good but
After about 10 hours of continuous wear, I felt like blisters were starting to develop. Soles of my feet
Was tender for about two days before returning to normal. Maybe should have broken in slower but my trip was within a few days. Probably I would get some softer inserts. Everything else was fine.

These shoes have tons of cushion and spring and really energize me when I'm running. I do love them, however, I am not at all a fan of the large arches in my two different pairs of Hoka shoes. The arch is my only complaint but I do not really notice it when running - only walking. I recommend these shoes.

Good fitting shoe. Wish it came in wider size. Heel has nice cushion when you walk.

I love the Clifton models, but none of the newer ones come close to the Clifton 3, except the Edge.

Went on my first run in the new Clifton 8...a hot, humid, and hilly 5 miles. I knew right away that these are something special. The upper is soft and airy and the cushioning has a pop and bounce that had been missing from previous versions. I'd been running in the 4 and 5 and have had every model except for 6 & 7. These so remind me of the originals, but with a better upper...and they come in wide! They do run big. I will be exchanging for a half size smaller. Docking one star for the annoying shoestring length. I could jump rope with them!

I ordered size 12.5 and received size 13. I am just wearing them around the house to see if I love them enough to keep them. They are very comfortable but waiting see if they adapt to my feet. As they fit and feel right now, I will be sending them back

I use this as a shoe I wear to work, which consists of me being on my feet about 60% of the day. Plenty of cushion make these very pleasant to work in, with minimal soreness at the end of the day. However, I'm having pieces of the bottom sole rip off of each shoe after just a couple of days of use. That, and the thinness of the body of the shoe, make me concerned that these won't be lasting nearly as long as my usual Nike AirMaxs normally do.

I've been wearing Hokas for a decade and have run thousands of miles and a few dozen marathons and ultras in them (plus I walk in them a lot) so I'm pretty familiar with many of them. I'm disappointed by the newer Cliftons.
I have some old-school Cliftons from back when they were soft and light. They were a great plush racing shoe. I'm not sure why the current model is so popular. I normally wear the Bondi, and those are slightly heavier, but much more plush. (They're less soft than they used to be, however.) The Clifton's foam barely seems to budge when I walk in them -- maybe I'm too light at 160? I didn't take them for a run b/c I knew I'd be returning them. Though by the tape they should be slightly wider in the toebox than the Bondi 8, they *feel* more constricted to me. They hurt the tops of my feet despite the thick tongue. The heel also slipped. It was impossible for me to achieve lockdown (even with lacelock threaded) in the heel without having them excruciatingly tight in the midfoot.
I can't say they're a bad shoe, but they're nothing like the first few generations of Clifton, and they certainly don't work for me.
Lengthwise, the 13 fits a little longer than the Bondi 8 in size 13. We found the same to be true of the women's, that they were 2-3mm longer than expected from other Hoka models. That could be the source of the heel slipping I suppose, but I do not think I could go to a 12.5 without ending up with toe collisions/blistering because I already get that in the Bondi 13 on *some* longer runs with a lot of hills.

First experience with Hoka brand. To be honest kind of disappointed . Sorry but just couldn't see how these being worth $120+. Seemed cheaply made for that price. Plus too small
Sticking with Keen.
P.s. excellent return policy:)

I was told these would be good for my Supination( foot rolls to the outside). That support was not near enough. The cushion was great and am sad they did not work for me

The store is much stiffer than earlier models and not as cushioned. The colors weren't as expected.
