Verified PurchaseReview for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Unfortunately, the Zappos photos do not show both sides of the bag which feature giant North Face logos. I'm not a logo toting kind of gal, so I really dislike this kind of over-zealous branding. So, the bag is going back. It would have saved the shipping and trouble if Zappos had featured the sides of the bag in their photos.

I recently purchased a small, navy blue base camp duffel. I really like the size and product is high quality. However the navy blue bag color is very different than in the picture. The bag itself is like a dark grey-blue-ish color and doesn't look navy blue at all. I even thought that they had sent me the wrong bag at first. The color was the most disappointing part but other than that it's a nice duffel bag.

This product is great but it's also not so great. The ability to carry this as a backpack is the obvious plus. However, the straps used to do so are awkward and clunky. They get in the way trying to get into the bag and is the main reason I returned the item. Also, why no shoulder strap for a duffel bag? Or at least some loops to attach one? If you're looking for a traditional duffel bag, I would not recommend. I'm giving 4 stars because it is a high quality bag, compressible, and has multiple uses (durable weekend bag, airline personal item) and there is a niche for people who want to use it.

The zipper is very stiff and difficult to use. The bag itself is also very stiff for a duffel bag. In cold weather i expect the inner lining of this bag will crack. I have returned the bag for a refund.

I ended up returning. The duffle is constructed of a stiff plastic. The bag needs more outside pockets for extra storage of small items, phone, wallet etc.. It is also very pricy for plastic. I really liked the color though.

I have two other sizes of this bag and they are both awesome, However, the small size does not actually have carry handles meaning it's not actually a duffle-it's backpack only which is not what I want in a DUFFLE bag.

I've always loved the Base Camp Duffel bag. It is by far, one of the most iconic TNF products ever released. I'm someone who loves The North Face for both functionality and style. I own many different backpacks and jackets from The North Face and I've always wanted a Base Camp Duffel bag. When I finally had a reason to pick this up, I was absolutely ecstatic. I got it at TNF's 5th Avenue store and they literally have this beautiful display of yellow TNF Base Camp Duffel Bags in the window. To me, this was like buying a LV Keepall. That's how much I love TNF. I decided to go with Black and I was so stoked to open this up back home. That's when I realized that, for some ridiculous reason, the Base Camp Duffel Bags below Medium sizes don't come with duffel bag handles. What's absolutely crazy about this is the packaging for the Small Base Camp Duffel Bags clearly show a drawing of a Base Camp Duffel Bag with handles. While this would certainly make for a neat backpack, it should be designed for travel. There was no way I was going to seriously use a Base Camp Duffel Bag with no handles as a carry-on. This is honestly one of the first TNF purchases I've ever made that I'll be returning in less than 24 hours. Very disappointed.

I have and love the medium version, so I bought the small as well. For some reason it doesn't have duffel handles, only backpack ones and I had to return it. Why make a duffel without duffel handles?

The back straps are complete garbage. It does not tighten, secure and sags like a 4 year old going to school. If only the engineers tried the product before selling to the public. Overpriced trash for people with to much money and not enough common sense.

I bought this as an all duty duffle bag which you just sling arround your shoulder. This is an oversized back pack, not a duffle bag! Its uncomfortable, the zips are diifficult to operate. There is no strap to hold the bag, only the back pack harnesses.

Used once and now I can't return as I'm out of the return window by 12 days. Zippers are really difficult to use due to the material of this bag. I thought it would be a bit more plyable, but this is stiff like a mummy. I also doubt the fabric will withstand multiple uses, similar to my prior El Gordo bag where the lining started flaking off. When the bag is fully packed, you can't really use/access the side pocket.

This product smells so bad I don't want to put my clothes in it. I have tried airing it out in the sun and that didn't help next I guess I'll try sealing it in a bag with baking soda or something. This shouldn't be necessary on an item at this price point.

It's very stiff. There are two straps like a backpack not one. The zipper was impossible to open and the bag was really hard to get stuff in and out I don't recommend and definitely not for that price

I bought for weekend airplane or car trips. The idea is good, but practicality is really poor. The zipper although good quality are hard to open, the lid does not stay open, so when it comes to packing and unpacking it is a pain. If wanting to use as a backpack, ytou havfe to pack full otherwise no bueno, if you want to carry as a duffel, there is no strap for that. The material quality is top notch, but the practicality, it is useless
