The women's Borealis is much smaller than in past years. My daughter can't get all of her school supplies to fit. We compared one of our old Borealis backpacks to the new one, using the same supplies, & the new one is significantly smaller. The regular Borealis, which I'm guessing is now the men's version ( based on the color choices) appears to have larger dimensions. Please bring back the old style which was larger & had more color choices. The North Face backpacks used to be our go to, but not anymore.

I paid over a $100 just for this book bag to not be able to not hold all the things I need. I do not like the new design and I wish they would have kept the old design. This one is not for everyday use and you shouldn't use it for school because it won't be able to hold your things. I have 2 binders both 1 and 1/2 inch binder with 3 skinny notebooks, a planner and a pencil pouch and It barely holds all that. Then they changed the pockets on the side where water bottle goes and the pocket is useful. It barely fits my 20oz wide hydro flask. I struggle to put it in the pocket. I wish I could return it but I threw away the receipt and the return slip. Go with the jester. More space and less going on.

I wanted to splurge and buy myself a nice backpack for college. I bought this backpack because of how beautiful the colors were and because of how everyone recommends it. I am not even into my second week of school and I had to go buy another backpack because this one is to uncomfortable! Even with nothing in the backpack it is extremely heavy and your back will hurt within minutes of putting it on. The backpack also doesn't sit upright so you have to constantly prop it up with your leg or it will just fall over. I would have never bought this backpack if I would've known the trouble it would cause.

Nicely made but super frustrated the borealis is now smaller. It barely could hold the binders and chrome book let alone no room for a lunch for my highschooler. I returned it a week ago and am awaiting a refund.

My older daughter has the original Borealis and loves it so I bought this for my younger daughter who is in high school. The backpack is long and narrow and does not expand enough to be useful. Seems like a poor design overall. She can barely fit one book and a lunchbox in the main compartment and the outside pockets are short so not only do they not hold much but when they are full they sort of block access to the main compartment.. I am guessing the shape is due to the ergonomic design for women but it just doesn't work. Even the side water bottle compartment is too small for a wide mouth bottle. I also compared the dimensions to the regular Borealis and it is quite a bit smaller. Does North Face think that women don't need as much room in their backpacks as men? Why would they make a women's back pack that has a smaller capacity? THe laptop compartment is pretty roomy so I suppose this would work for cummuting if you don't need to carry a lot in main compartment, but for a high school student that needs to carry books, lunchbox, jacket, etc. it is kind of useless. Giving it 2 stars because the quality is quite nice.

Too small for middle school backpack. Binders do not fit. Zipper pull broke in the first week of school.

My tween daughter bought this with her own money but unfortunately, it is super small, much smaller than her Jansport. It's a struggle to fit her lunch box inside. Shes determined to make it work we'll see how it goes on Tuesday when she's back to school.

The backpack is much smaller than the previous style of backpack that my daughter had last year that had a rip.

Not worth the money!! It doesn't fit anything (even with the bottom expanded), but that's not the worse of it. It's horribly top heavy. I'm so disgusted with it. I used it on a weekend trip and I was ready to throw it away.

My daughter bought this for high school. If she puts her laptop and 1 binder in it, it's FULL! Every morning is a frustration as she tries to stuff her things in.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
This bag came with a used tube of Neosporin in a pocket of the bag. I expect returns to happen but they need to be checked and reprocessed, so the next person to receive it doesn't get someone's used medication.

I just use this product for school- I throw a thin, lightweight laptop, iPad, and occasionally an agenda in it. The straps have already had the stitching coming done after less than a year of use. I wish North Face's quality was like it was 5-10 years ago. Very disappointed and will not be repurchasing :(.

Extremely small, not for middle to high school students!! My 7th grader can't fit a 1" binder, 1-5 subject notebook, laptop and PE uniform without having to carry something in hand.

We love the bag but if your child's school does not have lockers this bag is not big enough. They have to carry coats, sports gear, lunch, instrument and all the books and laptop. It's oir first day of school abd we are already regretting this purchase.

Never again will I but anything from North Face. Returned this backpack 10 days ago and it remains somewhere in transit. NF says it can take up to 30 days to receive and process a return, maybe even longer. Meanwhile NF gets the float on my money as the charge reminds on my credit card

I have owned many North Face backpacks and have loved them all except this one. The main pocket has tons of unusable dead space. The small front pockets result in poor weight distribution (top heavy) making it brutal to carry this for any length of time.

I use this for work. It's a terrible backpack. It doesn't stay on the shoulder if you carry on one shoulder. It never stands up if you set it down. Always tips over. I definitely would t buy.

Absolute garbage backpack and the customer service to help us replace / repair this was horrendous also. Do not buy and steer clear of north face. They clearly do not care about their customers or the quality of their products.

I bought this backpack for my 7th grader and have been nothing but frustrated with this bag. It barely fits 2 folders, a 1 subject binder and a homework assignment pad. There is no room for a pencil case and forget trying to fit a lunch box in it. I wanted to return it as soon as school began, but she fought me about it because this is the bag "everyone" has. I spoke to other moms and they all feel the same. Wish it was bigger because it's a cute bag!

This product cannot fit anything either. Once again people only buy it because it is cute but Id opt for an adidas backpack they are generally cheaper just as cute last long and can fit your entire life in them

Purchased this backpack for my daughter for her junior of high school. The backpack is designed to hold a laptop and other stuff. We could not get her small lunch bag inside with a small amount of basic folders. This bag is extremely stiff and does not offer any flexibility to hold school supplies.

This backpack is so small, how does anyone fit their books and anything else into it? Super disappointing because it's a really cute design.
