I received the shoes with some crease on top. Not acceptable.

Unbelievable. The package literally came directly from their returns department. The toes are misshapen with dents and marks. The leather looks creased already, like they've been worn. It's insulting that they would send this to me. Now I have to deal with the hassle of a return.

After being fitted at two stores to confirm the sizing result, I took the plunge on these a little over 2 years ago. I returned to the store saying they felt tight but they assured me this was the right size and I needed to wear them in a bit. Unfortunately, this never happened. I've tried over and over to wear these, but I'm always in extreme pain by the end of the day, which is so severe it lasts through the next day (wearing other shoes.) They look nice but are ultimately a complete waste.

After about 25 wears, the sole delaminated on the pair of shoes I had.

If you have wide feet, or want flexible comfortable leather, dont buy this shoe. It will damage your feet. I ordered 10.5 EEE. It is extremely painful because much narrower than other EEE sizes I have worn. The upper leather is inflexible , creased after two steps, is cheap looking, and the sole is simply like steel. And the insole is too, with no cushion or support. Its like walking on a plank of wood. You dont want to ruin your feet putting these on for more than a minute. You dont want to suffer through hours, days and months of your life and work trying to make these things comfortable, which just wont happen (read the other one star-too generous- reviews). They are very, very painful to wear. The room also stank of leather a few minutes after I opened the box. Im throwing them out. I recommend others dont buy them in the first place. Basically, stiff, smelly learher, and extremely uncomfortably built, and very, very narrow even in a(n) EEE size.

I highly recommend against buying this shoe. This is the worst pair of shoes I have ever owned. I bought these shoes about 6 months ago and they have been uncomfortable from the beginning. I kept thinking they would break in, but they never have. The top of my foot is hurting so bad after this week that I am never going to wear them again. I am very disappointed because I thought these shoes would last 10 years or more and just need to be re-soled occasionally. These shoes are very overpriced and a terrible value for what you get.

I've been wearing 2 pairs of AE's shoes(Strand and Lexington) past 5 years and I had been satisfied with the quality, and especially "socks-like" fitting. So I purchased a new pair of Park Avenue. Though the fitting was as good as my own pairs, the lasting of around the shoe mouth was deeply , poorly wrinkled which I've never seen in any pair of my shoes and any of the sold. And also the leather quality is like the corrected leather, not calf at all, which is far different from my Strand. I don' t believe it is the same kind of leather in differnt colour. I'm deeply sorry and disappointed with the quality deterioration while increasing the price up 70 dollars a pair in mere 5 years! I do understand and honor AE is struggling to produce and keep producing within US but you should at least keep the quality with the price up. I still love my own AE shoes but sadly will not buy any pairs longer, because of the quality... Wish I just picked the bad one with my bad lack...

I was very excited about getting these shoes after reading a lot of positive reviews online about the quality and longevity of Allen Edmonds. I bought the shoes and matching belt at full retail for over $500 combined, and they looked truly great. Unfortunately, after less than 2 months of wear, the heal on one shoe is beginning to separate from the sole. I work an office job in LA and put them on in my building's garage (motorcycle commuter), so many days they don't even make it outside. Extremely disappointing since the no-name Men's Warehouse pleather shoes these replaced lasted exponentially longer. I bought these in-store and the salesman was adamant that I needed a half size smaller than I thought I needed. I finally took his advice, so the shoes are also slightly too small, although I take responsibility for not sticking to my guns on that one. Now I am faced with resoling a 2 month old pair of ill-fitting shoes that I spent $400 on, or just letting these sit in my closest. I guess I am not going to be a lifetime AE customer like some of the other commenters...

I have loved my Park Avenues since the first day I put them on...until I had them recrafted by AE. Initially, after getting them back I was highly pleased. I decided to increase my care for the shoes after recrafting by purchasing an AE shoe care kit, and also a pair of Swimz galoshes directly from AE. I had previoudly just used Kiwi products, but had great results (got a high shine and wore them in the rain in Seattle often with not a hint of a problem). After getting them back after recrafting it was clear that by "refinish the uppers" all they did was strip the leather. With my new AE shoe care kit I followed all of the AE leather care recommendations using THEIR products and always wore galoshes when there was even a hint of dampness outside. None the less, after their first exposure to a bit of rain after being recrafted, the toe caps have bubbled up, and the shoes are effectively ruined. Whatever they do to the leather when recrafting strips it of any protective layers the shoes have, and their care prodcuts provide zero protection from the elements to counter this. The Swimz galoshes ($100, mind you) are basically worthless. Basically, in recrafting I paid to have AE ruin my favorite shoes. My heart is broken as these shoes were a graduation gift from my father, and now they are destroyed after I cared for them exactly as AE recommends. Toe cap replacement isn't a recrafting option, so I guess I will need to buy a new pair....only I won't because the leather is highly permeable, their shoe care products are terrible, and accessories are deficient in caring for these shoes properly.

The shoe looks great and it doesn't crease as much as the Lexington does. However, the quality was subpar for how much you're spending on it. I've had this for less than 5 months and wear it probably twice a week but it's already developed a hole on its sole. Despite making the effort to neither get it wet nor to not wear it as frequently, the pair managed to get worn out within a time span I wouldn't have expected for the amount I spent on it.

I've written a previous review glowing about Park Avenue. I just bought my 4th pair (always 11.5b) and it is MISERABLE. At first the tightness or rubbing was just that I needed to break in the shoes. Well, almost 3 months later, they feel just as terrible. I will never buy another pair. The leather and build quality seems cheaper and, honestly, I might overlook that factor considering the prices havent gone up much in past 5-10 years. But I CANNOT overlook the pain I feel and even prior, the wince I have on my face KNOWING it will be a painful day wearing them.

I am a first time AE customer and thought I'd start out with a classic shoe. Unfortunately, when it arrived, it was obvious that the left shoe was badly constructed: the upper was attached to the sole at a distinct angle of about twenty degrees. There was a bump on the upper left of the shoe as well. I have to echo other reviewers comments that mail ordering AE shoes is perilous - AE appears to be willing to put second quality shoes into their mail order inventory, apparently hoping that naive customers will not know any better and accept the shoes. I was able to exchange the shoes, replacing these with the Leeds 2.0, but those were flawed also, much to my dismay.

I have several pairs of Allen Edmond shoes. I have a grey pair of Park Avenue and a pair of Strand. The fit of both of these is perfect. I bought the black Park Avenue expecting the same fit and quality. I have been greatly disappointed. I returned the shoes a couple of weeks ago but have not heard anything back from them. All I want is a pair that fits like my other Park Avenue.

These are nice shoes theoretically, but for some reason I had to order and return three pairs before I got a pair that did not have an unsightly and awkward bulge in the leather. This extra hassle was annoying, and the fact that I had to go through three pairs points to a decline in quality control somewhere along the line. Would not recommend unless you enjoy returning shoes.

My experience with these shoes has been awful. After less than 6 months there was a huge hole in the sole of the shoe (I wear them to work in a carpeted office). On top of this, the heel is separating from the shoe itself on both shoes. After reading other reviews online this seems to be a common issue with Allen Edmonds shoes. They have clear quality issue with their product. I shouldn't have to recraft the shoe twice a year.

I ordered black park avenues in 11 2E from retail store. When they came in size and fit were perfect; however one shoe had a major leather wrinkle problem so the store offered to try again. Second pair came in - same thing: size and fit good, one shoe perfect, one shoe had a major leather wrinkle problem - store offered to try again. Third pair came in - same result: one perfect shoe, one shoe with leather wrinkle problem - looked like the sewing was not quite right. I never had to work so hard to get shoes and go away empty handed with a refund in the end. The store was great - manufacturing not so much.

I have sent these shoes back twice since December of 2012. After having the soles redone the first time I only wore them 20 times before the sole fell off of one shoe and the sole on the other shoe was cracking. I am very disappointed in the quality of the shoes. When I took them back the second time I asked the salesmen if there is anything he could do for me and he was only willing to re-sole the shoe. I have wanted a pair of Allen Edmonds for a long time because of the reputation they have built up over the years and because it is an American made Wisconsin company (I grew up in Wisconsin and wanted to support the local economy). I thought I'd give a different shoe a shot so I bought the Boulder driving shoe. I had to return these after a week because the right shoe was bigger than the left and my feet were beat up from wearing them (the salesmen promised me the shoes would break in after a few wears). When I returned the shoe, the salesmen said it was because my feet are not the same size; a compelling argument considering I'm 32 years old and have never had this issue with another pair of shoes. Nonetheless, they accepted my return and issued a full refund. This is the first time I have ever written a poor product review on a company website. I have done so only because of the price tag associated with the product and want to save others from similar headaches. If you read the reviews for both of the shoes I bought these quality issues are not uncommon. I appreciate having the shoes re-soled but in my opinion this just puts me back to square one and my time has been wasted with the return. Not to mention I wanted to wear the shoes for an upcoming trade shoe.

I've owned these shoes for about three weeks (maybe 6 wearings), and the heel on my left shoe has begun to separate. I feel like the quality of this shoe is not on par with its cost. It's a shame, too, because I really love the style and had heard good things about Allen Edmonds' shoes. However, I could not recommend anyone to purchase shoes that come apart weeks later.

After buying Johston & Murphy for 15 years, a friend convinced me to convert to AE. Noticed yesterday that the Park Ave has stiches coming loose after only 3 wears, so I went to put on a different color/pair that I purchased (Strand) at the same time...and see that heel is separated from one of the shoes in that pair. Both are going back to the store today. Very disappointing first impression with Allen Edmonds.

I have purchased pair after pair of Allen Edmonds shoes over many years. I bought the Park Avenue with an expectation I would have and recraft these shoes many times. Within weeks, the heels separated from both shoes and I had to take them in for recrafting. When they returned from a full recrafting, I had the same issue within weeks. Back again. Now the leather area around the heel has worn through - in less than a year. I rotate this and all pairs throughout each week, so it is not from too much wear. Something has happened to the quality of Allen Edmonds shoes. It isn't there now, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend Allen Edmonds any longer.

I am a first time Allen Edmond customer. I was drawn to AE because of the good reviews and quality. I got the Park Avenue for its style and what I thought would be a good fit. I specifically went to an AE store to get fitted. The sales person said that the shoe should fit snug and that they ran a size large. My foot measured 9.5, the sales person said a 9 should work. After trying different sizes on, I got the 9's. The sales person said that I should expect them to stretch as they wear in. The shoes fits great around the heel, without any soreness or heel pop, however after several hours of wearing them, it was apparent that they were too tight in the toe area and the top ridge of the cap cut into my toes causing them to be too painful to wear. The sales person said they could stretch the shoes in that area and this would help wear them in. After two trips to the store, and over two weeks without my new shoes, the side to side room in the toe box was increased, it helped alleviate that part of the problem. With more room in the toe area, it was then apparent that the shoes were too small, not long enough. I don't know if having more side to side room allows my foot to slip slightly forward, but they are unfortunately still painful to wear as my toes butt against the front of the shoe as I walk. I have had these shoes for a little over a month, but have only been able to wear them for less than a week's time. While the shoe may seem to run a size larger, I now believe that the shoe needs to be longer to make more room in the toe area because of how quickly it narrows in the toe box. I really like the shoe style and quality, but they are not working for me.

I have had multiple quality control issues and given up. I am going on my 3rd exchange of these shoes after each pair has suffered from a different issue. The first pair had gashes on the tongue, the next had a sole that was peeling off right out of the box, and this last pair has two entirely different toe box shapes/sizes. I have given up as this entire endeavor with 3 exchanges has proved very time inefficient. The shoes are a timeless shape, however with these QC issues I simply cannot recommend them at this time and hope that AE looks into this problem. I would not expect these problems in a 1st quality shoe, especially from a name like AE, which has long been associated with great American made shoes.

Allen Edmonds - the brand synonymous with outstanding design, durable craftmanship, and is a solid choice for any business or casual look. That's exactly why I invested in two pairs (brown and black). Unfortunately, my brown pair was not well made. I wear this color perhaps once a week and have only owned them for the past 5 months. The sole has started to separate from the rest of the shoe, which is not what I expect from any brand, let alone one that has such a stellar reputation. See the picture attached to this review. Help me make this right, Allen Edmonds -- I want to love your brand as much as your other loyal customers do.

I have had 2 pair of Park Avenue shoes fail in the last 6 months! That is a lot of money spent on shoes I can't wear and Allen Edmonds will not fix. My belief is that something in the manufacturing, and customer service, process has changed. I say that because I have been a loyal A/E man for over 10 years. I have also been a very happy A/E man for over 10 years. That disposition has dramatically changed over the last 6 months as 2 brand new pair of Park Avenue shoes have become un- wearable and the customer service team have delayed and obfuscated any remedy other than oh well, that's the way it goes. Over $700 spent in 6 months on shoes you cannot use. Not a very good value proposition.

I bought my first pair of Allen Edmonds shoes (Park Avenues) on a recent business trip. I have been looking at this high quality brand for years so I was really looking forward to owning my first pair of Park Avenues. However, I must say that I am very disappointed in the shoes. When I tried them on in store they were tight but the salesman firmly reassured me that my feet would 'sink' into the cork footbed and they would relax. Well, I have had them for 6 months and they are still uncomfortable. The 'V' between the laces has not closed at all (as the salesman said it would). I find after wearing them for a normal workday my feet are so sore that I can only wear them 2 times per week maximum. Too bad as I really wanted to love the Park Avenues! I expect more at this price point.
