Being a size 6 1/2 shoe, I tried both size 5 and 6 of this boot; neither fit. Both were too big and falling off my heel. I was advised to try a kid's size 3 but they were indefinitely "not available". I tried tying the laces really tight and that helped a bit, but in the end these boots did not work for me. I was so disappointed.

Way too big! I will have to wear very thick socks to get any use out of these. I was hesitant to order one and a half sizes down and returning is a hassle. I wish L L Bean would just make true sizes for shoes and boots..instead of the absurd oversized shoes and boots. I only recommend these if you order at least one size smaller.

I wear an 8.5/9 and according to their sizing it said I should order a 7, so I did. I could barely get it on my foot! I thought it sounded strange but it is their product and they would know. I also read the reviews and they pretty much said the same, order a 7. I am here to tell you that wasn't the case in the pair I received. I am sending them back and going to try to order an 8. Hopefully that will work. I know a 9 would be too big. Too bad they don't have half sizes. I sure hope the 8 will fit seeing that I love the boot. I know if they would have fitted I would have given more than 2 stars.

I had a probably ten year old pair that I loved but thought I'd upgrade. Big mistake. The new shoe has a tongue that sits high on the foot (I guess this is to provide more protection to the foot) but it is really ugly. But most disappointing was the fact that it was so big (even tho my old size 7s worked fine) that I walked out of them. I wound up giving them away.

I read the reviews before I ordered. I knew they ran large. I heeded the advice and ordered a size smaller than I wear. The mocs were huge. The heel area is very wide and there was nothing I could do to make them snug up. I re-tied the laces....no. I put on an extra pair of heavy socks....no. I wanted them to fit. They are a nice heavy duty moc and would have been perfect but.....no. The reviews were pretty on target. LLBean......do something about the sizing.

I wore shoes like these when I was young, so when I found them in the LL Bean catalog I was so excited to order them. Based upon other reviews I ordered one size down and they fit fine, but after wearing them for short periods to try and break them in, I just can't anymore. They're very stiff and uncomfortable, they really hurt my feet! They seem to keep my feet dry but honestly I've only had them on a few times and never for more than 30 minutes. They're just not for me and my aching feet.

I normally wear a 8 1/2 or 9 shoe so I ordered an 8. Huge in the heel even with thick socks. Exchanging for a 7 and just hope it works. Had a pair back in the 1980's and they were lined. Fit well. So I don't understand the off sizing.

I can actually feel the bottom of the boot when walking. Feels like there is no liner and is very uncomfortable and cold. The plus side is they are waterproof. Did read reviews before my purchase and the suggestions to size down. Normally I wear an 8 but did purchase a size 7. The size was good.

I loved these shoes 40 years ago, they had fur lining (i think) and were different, bottom ok but top where tongue is too big. I was disappointed. Guess they can't improve them from 40-50 years ago.

They rubbed like crazy where the tongue and body of the shoe meet, so I put a big piece of moleskin to pad the area. The tongue was so long that it poked me in the front of the ankle, so I trimmed it. The heel was so wide that I put another thick chunk of moleskin around the heel.Maybe in the winter, when I wear socks, it might work.

I wear an 8M, but read reviews about ordering a full size smaller, which I did. A size 7 is a full size smaller than I wear.
The problem with this shoe is that it cannot be tightened with the leather pieces that lace around the top of the shoe. Although the length was perfect, I felt the 7 Medium was too wide.
So I went into the store to try on a 7 Narrow. That size shoe was too small. I opted for another style where I could pull the laces and tighten them easily to fit my foot and prohibit it from slipping out of the shoe.

Love these shoes - wanted these shoes and needed them. They appear to be made well and are even attractive. With the advisement to order a full size down from normal, I did and ordered a 7AA instead of 8AA (which begs the question - why mass produce a product so far off of standard?). Even the full size down was still far too large to wear, so I ordered yet another full size down, as LL Bean does not offer half sizes, at least in this shoe. Naturally, the replacement was a bit too small, so another return. All very frustrating when they should be using standard shoe sizes instead of making do with an obvious mistake.

I purchased an 8 wide originally and they were a tad too small (I am a woman's 9.5-10). I exchanged for the 9 wide and they are too big. They are going back. Need half sizes.

My husband ordered these for me as a gift. I wear an 8.5 M or wide or 9 M shoe normally in all my other shoes. He bought the 8 Wide AND the 9 Medium thinking one would work. But they didn't. My toe was too smashed to the end with the 8, and the 9 was roomy, but nothing held the shoe on, i just walked right out of it. So, we ordered the 9 Narrow.... still didn't fit! I tightened the laces up but it didn't help. I took the insoles out and put in different ones (the insoles that came with the shoes are very thick) but that didn't help either. My heels just slip right out. I have kind of fat feet too, so I have no idea who they made these for but I don't see how a woman can fit them. I'm so bummed because they look like good quality. Unfortunately, we're returning all 3 pairs. :(

These came today and I've sent them back already. Too large. The support is great, but the tongue came too far up my foot and hurt as it poked into my ankle as I walked in them. This is why I won't try a smaller size. I also disliked the stiff laces as others commented on. They'll never stay tied.

I really wanted to love these shoes, but they were so uncomfortable. They hurt my feet from the moment i put them on. I am a solid size 7 and my foot is swimming in them. I also bought the inserts which made them fit better, but still too big and would have gotten blisters right away.

I bought this boot a few years ago in blue. After one year you tell the color. About the same time the stitching started to come apart. They are still waterproof so I still wear them around the house on wet or light snow days. I expected them to hold up much better. Like the other LL Bean clothing I own.

I ordered based on guidelines and they were to big. I took them on a trip and tried to wear them with big socks but they still did not fit. I ended up getting irritation on the top of my feet due to the fit. I purchase 71/2 in shoes so I ordered a 7. They also wouldn't stay tied. I do not recommend these Mocs unless you try them on.

These shoes were too heavy and the ties could not be tied tightly enough to make them feel secure. Wearing them around the house became a chore.

Disappointed with the size, way too large. Returned to the store for full size smaller. Not comfortable enough to wear all day. My feet still are sore. They are probably good enough for short term. They definitely keep feet dry.

They really need to change the sizing. I usually wear a 7-7.5 so I ordered a 6. They are still too big! I'm returning them because I think a 5 would be too small. They are heavy and they slip when walking so it's just not a good fit for me.

WOW, it is very hard for me to find shoes that fit due to bunions, crooked toes, and needing wide/extra wide width. Knowing LL Bean has superior products, I was excited to order these. I first ordered a 9W which my foot ended up swimming in. So exchanged for an 8W and while the W part was good, my foot was still coming out of the shoe when I took a step. I can't order a 7 because as stated, the W in the size 8 was just right - a 7W will be too narrow even though my foot might finally fit. Why on Earth keep making this shoe when numerous reviews state it runs wide/large?? Find a new cut!
My old Comfortview brand fits me to a T. Only reason I was looking for a new pair is because they finally split in the bunion area after years of use. These are sadly going back.

While I normally wear an 8 N shoe, the description and reviews said this boot ran large, so I ordered the narrow in a full size smaller, but it was still too wide. Also, the flap with the tie is awkwardly constructed and didn't seem to lie flat. I was disappointed overall and sent them back.
