I bought a pair of these 20 years ago, but only in the last couple of years have put them to the test, having moved to central PA upon retirement. These are warm, waterproof, and comfortable, but their best characteristic is that the gum sole grips ice that no other shoe will hold. We have freezing and refreezing of our snow, and the ice gets so slick even steel studs will slide. But the Bean Boots stick to the ice, adding safety to warmth and comfort.

I don't wear boots and seldom need them, but because of a planned trip to Canada in wintertime, I ordered these boots. I knew as soon as I put them on they would be great. Few companies have wide sizes, so that was a plus. They are comfortable, without a lot of breaking in needed. I will check the waterproofing next month.

My wife and I are spending the Christmas Holiday in the Austrian Alps. Snow Mud slush 5" deep these boots have kept me warm and dry on our vacation. Enjoyed watching the winter shoppers in Munich carefully navigating the puddles of slush while walked straight through.
Note the sizing notes, they do run large. Made in USA, best part for me.

These are great boots. They are warm, very comfortable and appealing to the eye. I bought one size down from my normal size. I highly recommend purchasing these boots, or for that matter anything else from LL Bean. You cannot beat the customer service and superior quality of their products. Buy, buy buy....

my 8 inch boots are almost 25 yrs old and were sent back recently for third replacement of lower rubber. I wear them until the chain link tread is smooth. repairs done in house.

Excellent boots. Exactly what I need for my area. We have lots of water in the winter and walking the fields and trails gets really sloppy. I get home, rinse with water and am good to go the next day. Excellent stability and wamth. Can walk all day in these boots.

Been ordering these gum boots for 25 years. They last me two winters, then return for resewing and new sole. Like to call them my retreads. keep up the great work, don't take them off the market. (something that works usually is discontinued) My feet thank you.

What a great boot. We had record snowfall this winter and I lived in these boots. I ordered the B width in my normal shoe size as I have narrow feet and they fit perfectly. It is worth a few extra dollars to buy the real thing. Far superior to imitation bean boots made by other companies. These are more comfortable, provide better support, and have better leather. These boots should keep you warm to -10F if you are active. I hardly ever wear my heavy pac boots anymore. My only complaint is that they come with cheap laces that don't last.

Wow! I have been wearing Sorel's for years and thought because I like the Bean gunsole shoes I should give these a try. Not only are these more comfortable than my Sorel's, they are warmer. They feel like wearing comfy slippers as I walk through the snow with my dog on our daily hikes. I have a narrow foot and the B with hugs my feet rather than slipping around in boots made for wider feet. Why did I wait so long to purchase these? Really the best purchase of the 2008-2009 winter season. Great job LL Bean!! (I tried the non-insulated version in the store. That thinsulate layer in the insulated version adds a whole level of comfort.)

My dad has been using the same pair for atleast the past 20 years and he beats them hard. I also have had the same pair for about 15 years. We have never had a problem with them. we also both had L.L.bean sew the liner at the top of the boot to the leather, only the back half (not sewn to the tongue) so the liner doesn't come out when you take them off but you still can pull them out and turn them inside out to let the inside dry overnight. Sewing them like this also helps to not loose the liner. One thing that also helps is if you get some felt insoles for the bottom to put them on top of the regular insoles, helps them breath better. Right now I am considering buying the taller pair for walking in swamps. I've tried other boots and these by far are the best. The chain link tread has awsome traction.

These are the best boots I've ever owned. They run a little big, but worn with a pair of Bean's boot socks, they are incredibly warm and comfortable. Another plus is they are made in America! You just can't go wrong with these.

The best boots money can buy!!!!!!!!! I had a pair while I grew up in Connecticut and lost them moving out to Arizona. Not even a Colorado Rocky Mountain Blizzard could stop these boots. The Best period.

Absolutely LOVE these boots! The extra money paid for these premium boots, (over the regular Bean Boots) are well worth it. I have not had the same experience as the other reviewer..my liner never pulls out. Maybe the boots are too small for him? These do run a little big, so buy a 1/2 size smaller than normal. I have hunted many a game with these in frigid weather and never get cold feet!

I am replacing my Bean Boots that I bought 40 years ago. these new insulated boots come with a cut down version of insulation. the old boot had a fully fined zip up insulated insert in the boot. the current boot don't come close to matching the old ones.

Have a pair of similar boots without insulation or waterproofing & like them, so when these went on sale, I ordered a pair. Overall impression is they are well-made and do seem warm. Haven't tested the waterproofing yet.
BUT... Sizing. Sheesh. Unlike my other LLB boots, the listing says "order your regular size." So I did. They were huge. I returned them & ordered a whole size smaller (like my other boots), and they fit. Comparing them to my other Bean boots, they are still a bit longer, but not so much that they are slipping.
Honestly, I don't know why Bean's doesn't just use standard sizing for all their boots. It makes things confusing for the boots, and also for insoles. Do I get the Bean boot size insole, or my regular size insole? (Regular size works for uninsulated, they need a trim for insulated.)
All that said, I like the now-correctly sized boots, but it shouldn't be this difficult.

Nice boots, just pretty stiff. The only negative is the insoles. They're very thin at the ball of your feet. I bought new insoles that are much thicker and threw the other ones away.

Ll Bean winter boots? The best for around the town errands in inclement weather. Whole boot insulation, water tight? What more can a person ask for? Oh, I am in the process of breaking mine in, it isn't an awful endeavor. You can buy the knock offs, but these are the real deal.

I ordered size 11W after returning a size 12W pair previously ordered, I normally wear an 11.5W. The 11's are still a bit loose requiring bulky, heavy socks. These boots are great for colder, wet days outside doing any multitude of tasks however.

I have a narrow foot, am pleased to find a boot that fits. I encourage L.L. Bean to make a 13 narrow in a leather work boot in the future.

I recently purchased these boots in my normal size (11 narrow width). They were too tight in my forefoot so I checked with customer service and exchanged them for the D width, which to my surprise fit perfectly. Other than the odd size issue, they
are excellent boots. Surprisingly comfortable with Good insulation that kept me warm during our last snowstorm here in Colorado. But, to anyone who wears a normal D width, they seem to run narrow!

These are great boots. High quality, comfortable and warm. The durability is incredible. I have bought Bean Boots since I was a kid (now creeping on 60). I always send my boots to be fixed and I get many more years of use & protection!

I bought the insulated 8" L.L. Bean boots for use in the winter. The fit was a little on the big side, but that's not a deal killer - with a pair of thick boot socks, the boots fit me very well.
This is the fourth pair of L.L. Bean boots I have purchased over my life. My beloved 10" boots I gave away when I moved. After 15+ years of use, they were still in fine condition. I expect this new pair of 8" boots to last at least as long.
Be it sweaters, barn coats, boots, corduroy pants, and a number of other clothing items, I have never, ever worn out a single L.L. Bean item in my life. I have given them away but never threw anything away from wearing it out. That says a lot about their workmanship. I highly recommend these boots and any other item made in the great state of Maine by L.L. Bean employees.
