These were a gift for my son. He wore them once outside in the snow and they were completely soaked. The leather was drenched. His socks were drenched. His feet were frozen. Poor little guy. I had to end up buying other shoes for the rest of the ski trip due to how wet these shoes got. Very unreliable.

I wear 13 1/2 Wide shoes. I originally ordered a pair of these boots in 12 W - they were too short (length) and too narrow. I gave them to our son. I ordered 13 W - and they were HUGE, unwearable, regardless of the number of sole inserts and thickness of socks I wore. The quality was good. I returned them. There shouldn't be that much difference between. Please fix this, LL Bean.

I ordered this pair to replace a pair that I owned. Same size and same VN#. New pair are probably at least one size smaller, had no lining at all (the old pair had a lining) and the workmanship is not at the same level as the other pair. Maybe someone had a bad day making shoes. They both say made in Maine.

LLBean needs to get the boot size in line with standard norm. It cost me $6.50 to try on a pair of boots. I returned them and chose not to make it $13.00.

What a nightmare. I ordered boots and a bathing suit. The boots were supposed to go the store and the bathing suit was to come in the mail. Before the suit arrived, a storm came in and there was a driving ban. They cancelled the boots. I called to complain and the people were so unhelpful, all they wanted to do was tell me about the inner workings of LL Bean and not how I was going to get my stuff. The last woman refused to even listen to what I wanted. And then when I finally got a word into way to send me the boots in the exact size and color and kind, she sent me these boots which were completely wrong. I ended up at the store where the boots I originally ordered were stocked. I order from LL Bean almost every year for Christmas and winter wear, how did this store which had the best customer service in the business become this mishagash of confusion and cancellation? I want the old L.L. Bean back

I ordered a size down from my regular shoe size (like their chart says to), and the boots are still too big.
Now I either have to return them or pay this company an extra $7 to exchange them just because they feel the need to create their own special shoe size chart instead of them just following the regular shoe size chart like every other company on the planet. So stupid and frustrating. Don't make your own size chart if it's not even accurate. Returning these garbage "boots" to this garbage company. Colossal waste of time.

I AM A 50 YEAR CUSTOMER. THE LAST PAIR OF BEAN BOOTS I HAD LASTED 40 YEARS- I COULD STILL WEAR THEM. THESE LASTED 3. THE LEATHER SEPARATED FROM THE RUBBER AFTER ONLY LIGHT SEASONAL USE. I BOUGHT THESE BEFORE THE GUARANTEE CHANGED- THEY ARE SITTING IN MY KITCHEN WHILE I DECIDE WHAT TO DO. STICH THEM TO THE RUBBER L.L. BEAN.

The instructions state if you are a 9 1/2 shoe go down one size on the boot and on another set of instructions it says to go up one size.
MAYBE it is me, but I found it confusing re-sizing boots that's why i returned them they were just too tight

I really love the look of these boots, and have wanted a pair for a while. They're extremely comfortable, and I felt like they were worth the investment. Unfortunately, after less than two months of use, the stitching on one boot has broken, and the laces are already frayed. I don't mind having to replace laces regularly, but for a boot that's meant to last, broken stitching after two months is ridiculous and I'm super disappointed in the quality, and lack a durability.

I have a wide foot, and ordered your widest boot size. Its still tight. It would be nice for you to make a wider boot option - many would appreciate this wider size for heavier socks as well as wide feet.

Sized in accordance with instructions. Do not have receipt, boots were purchased many years ago. At that time thought the boots were expensive but would be a good lifetime investment. I knew I wouldn't use them often but that they should come in handy when I did need them.

The current version of this boot is nothing like the original. I finally ordered a replacement for my 30 year old boots. These new versions are not as substantial as the original. I doubt they will last as long as my original boots. The styling has changed so much that they look like women's boots. Boots were returned.
Disappointed,

My 8" Original Men's Bean Boots (the ones on this page, no gore-tex) have started to leak water through where the leather upper is sewn to the rubber sole, so I reached out to see if this was covered under the exchange policy. I was told that only the gore-tex version of these boots were completely waterproof, and that the original ones listed here are actually only waterproof up to the rubber part. I'm confused why the description for this product says "Waterproof protection of rubber-bottom boots..." and "the antidote for wet feet" if they're not actually waterproof? This seems misleading; the rubber bottoms on my gym shoes are also waterproof, but they definitely wouldn't be considered a "waterproof" shoe. Pretty bummed at LL Bean for this one...

Product for men stop at size 14 and unable to purchase. Products are not keeping up with demand and changing and growing teens/young adults sizes. Size 14 is no longer a 'large' size any more. My son was wearing a 14 at age 14.Now wears a 16 and most companies do not carry a show for him to wear. It is time to expand your sizing.

I hate to say it but these boots were so uncomfortable that I actually took them off to check if they forgot to put insoles inside. The insoles were there, the boots were just very uncomfortable. The leather felt and looked cheap. They reminded me of the rubber rain boots I wore as a child.

I wear a size 12.5-13, and the 13's on this shoe was huge! I had the laces tied as tight as they would go, and it was still too big! The shoe itself was very floppy, not very thick, and just barely passed my ankles. I was not impressed at all, and just returned them.

The boots have been worn maybe fifteen times, and oiled once and sprayed with silicone lightly. Very typical treatment and light use. When I went to pull them on, I pulled up on the back loop. The back loop tore off neatly along the stitching. I wasn't pulling all that hard, either. On examination, it had been pierced for the thread so many times that it was more gaps than leather, and the leather was thin.
I can't find the receipt, so I will probably donate these. Other than that they seemed to be fine boots, but I was hoping for 20 years of useful life.

I've owned these boots for about 2 years and the stitching ripped even though I don't wear them often. A lot of my friends have these boots and they've had no issues so I'm assuming I just got a bad pair.

Tried them on went to do a waterproof test. Right boot started leaking from the stitching where the leather met the rubber. Had to make due with it since we bought the boots for our trip to the NW US. Feet got wet in the snow, wet in the rain.

I normally wear a size 12 (running shoes, military boots, hiking boots, Vibram FiveFinger), with the occasional 11.5 wide military boot (because of manufacturing tolerances and sock choice), so I figured going down to 11 for these boots would be fine.
I bought thick wool socks to go with them, because these are for winter.
I get that your boots are 'a size larger'. But these boots fit around my calf/ankle WAY too tight, while at the same time my feet float around in the rubber bottom. I figured "maybe I can just wear more socks"... But wicking socks+thick wool socks+ankle height athletic socks still left my feet floating around in the boot, while making the uppers even more problematic.
I have nowhere nearby to try these on to get the 'right' size. I don't have much money (disabled) and footwear is both important and expensive. Never again will I be buying LLB. Now I need to get replacement boots and return these.
