The jacket is good for a short term outdoor activities, need to add extras layers when the temperature is under 32 degrees. Overall it's ok.

Standup collar when unzipped folds out with an unsightly brown band of zipper cloth.

Returned PS which was very big. Regular XXS fits better. Have not worn it yet, but initial comments: the armpit area is very snug and sleeves are several inches short when the arms are bent over. Pocket zipper teeth are large and the sleeve rubbed over when my arms are by the sides (my other jackets from different brands have smaller, smooth zippers). Not much rubbing when the pockets are zipped. The jacket is warm over a long sleeve.

Jacket fits nicely, looks great in the ocean blue color, & is fairly warm when worn with layers. I like the deep pockets. I wish, however, this jacket was even warmer & had adjustable cuff tighteners. Although I have long arms, the sleeves are definitely too long. I would prefer the collar wasn't quite as tall.

Hits all the bells and whistles except 2 things: I wish it had a two way zipper and a slightly more durable fabric (my dog snagged it and left a hole) but other than that, fantastic!! Perfect weight and thickness. I normally wear a medium but in winter wear layers so went with a large. I love this for a walking coat and running errands.

I have an older 600 jacket from ll bean. The quality of the newer items are not as good as the older jackets. The jacket is definitely warm. The older jacket has a soft material around the collar and the new ones do not! The material on the older jacket is stronger than the new jackets. Quality is just not what it used to be.

I really love almost everything about this jacket. I like the color and the zipper accent color detail. It's very warm, and the puffiness is substantial, which makes you feel very cozy. I do think the collar is a little bit lacking in terms of aesthetics. Overall the jacket doesn't look as fashionable as other similar jackets. I have broad shoulders, and while I thought the extra large fit better on my shoulders, the large fits better on the rest of my body.

Weightless warmth--great for changing temperatures. Just long enough to keep your butt warm. Only downside is that the smallest size is still slightly big for me.

I ordered the blue on sale. The first one I received was a good inch narrower from the underarm to the hip. I contacted customer service and they sent me another. The second was ok in the underarm but not by the time you get to the hips.

The jacket is great - fits perfectly!, comfy, super lightweight, and seems surprisingly warm. Overall, a 9.9! The color though! The clearance price drew me in ($89 is an incredible value!) so I ordered one of the two clearance colors offered - the Crimson (actually pumpkin spice color -- no hint of red -- on my monitor, and/or my phone). When I received it, I loved the jacket immediately, but the color just turns me off. Its like a a beautiful pumpkin spice...but with crimson mixed in. Blech. (Sorry LL Bean, but seriously, blech.) Back it goes.... but I've exchanged it for the bright red Ultralight 850 which appears to have sold out in about 10 mins - can't wait to receive it!! Keep you posted! :)

Was disappointed that it was too tight. I was looking forward to it. I love the color.

I love this jacket. The only thing it's missing is a pocket for your phone. Why is there a pocket on the men's jacket but not the women's?

I have several friends who have this jacket. I bought a petite large. It's a little big but the med. was too small. Overall, I like the jacket. I would like it better if it had a 2-way zipper and an inside pocket. It is warm!

Keeps you very warm in below zero temps, great fit & not bulky.

Really great looking jacket, beautifull color, comfortable, etc. The bad news was that 1st time it came with large stains (palm print like) dark, lower front. 2nd time similar only small on the back. They were not visible under artificial lighting like during opening of Christmas presents, but very visible outdoors. Now we are not sure if we should try for the 3rd time or try different color. If L.L. Bean can assure us about the next jacket being spotless we would love to buy it again.

This jacket is almost perfect. I say 'almost' because it is missing a very handy feature and that is the zip pocket on the chest of the jacket. The men's have them. Why not the women's?? I don't get it. As someone who is outside a lot, this pocket is incredibly handing for putting your phone, keys, whatever in. I use the side pockets for my hands & gloves when I'm out in the cold, and don't want to risk my phone falling out of a side pocket. The safety that the chest pocket provides for your phone can't be beat. This feature is available in another jacket I have from LL, but I'm not sure why it was left out of this one. As for the quality, fit, color, etc- it's the high standard that LL Bean is known for. I've been layering it with another down jacket because it has been between zero and -15 all year where I am, and it's the perfect extra insulation needed. I just really miss that pocket!!

Purchased as a gift for my wife. She flip flops between medium and large depending on the manufacturer. Thought as a jacket a large would be fit her properly over sweater but was just too baggy on her. Otherwise she liked the feel of the fabric and said it was warm.

I really like this jacket, but I wish it were warmer. The warmth figures do not hold true for me. It is okay with layers underneath but does not stand alone. As with other Bean jackets, the zipper is less than perfect. Other than that (huge issue), this coat fits well and looks good.

Like the jacket, but bewildered at calling the jacket color "dark red". It is the brightest fire-engine red imaginable. Like bright, bright, BRIGHT RED. Not cool, LL Bean! Otherwise, I do like the jacket.

I have a 3 year old or more 850 jacket and needed another so ordered again. The sizing is larger and no soft fleece lining in the pockets any longer! No soft lining in the inside of collar. Why did you stop adding these wonderful details? It's very disappointing to put my hands into cold pockets. I wish you wouldn't cut corners. These extra details are what made the 850 jacket special. You were alway commited to quality and I've come to expect that when I made this purchase. That's why I'm only giving 4 stars. Please add the fleece back, I would pay $20 more to have the coziness back.

The lining on this jacket is so thin that every time I wear it my shirt ends up covered in feathers. This thin lining is also the inside of the pocket so you can feel the cold in the pockets, they are not warm. I love the color of the jacket which was my main reason for purchase and I wanted something a little heavier than what I have. Overall it is warm and pretty. I do prefer coats/jackets that have a snap flap also for when you don't want to zip the whole coat up. The zipper does not open from both ends which makes jackets easier to sit in.

Unfortunately this does not have a hood or drawstring at the bottom. Why be 850-fill and allow wind to get in at the bottom and not have a hood for windy days?

I have this jacket from several seasons back and I love it. Wanted a new one, so ordered a petite small. I am 5'0" and 113#. This season's jacket has raglan sleeves vs. sewed in at the shoulder, and are far too long for a petite frame. Fabric is thin and looks like it could tear or rip easily. Returned it.

Not as warm as my last LL Bean Down Jacket I was replacing this one with. My last one had minimum 80 down and this one has 90 minimum down, older one is much warmer. The color is a nice red, just not as warm as I was expecting for 850 down, and the price tag was three times more then my old coat for new technology that is not as warm.
