This relates to the yellow one only - and I didn't keep it long enough to be able to speak to warmth/comfort. But the outer fabric is light colored (obviously) and the inner fabric is a navy blue with patterns. The problem is that in all the spots where there is not a layer of fluff between the two (mostly at seams, but also other random places where the down has shifted so there are bare areas), the dark lining shows through, and makes it look like the yellow jacket is dirty in those places. I'm not above wearing dirty jackets, but this was obviously going to look like this all the time, and was obvious enough that it was the first thing both my husband and daughter mentioned when seeing the coat. I love a yellow coat, but returned this one.

Leaks a lot especially around the underarms. This jacket is just ok. As good as one I had paid $50 for elsewhere. Not worth the over 300 that I paid after tax.

I bought this jacket for my daughter. We liked everything about it but having to have your name so boldly displayed on the front of it.

This is a good quality, medium warmth jacket. It's super comfortable and fits nicely. However, the warmth is disappointing for the price. I was looking for a light packable jacket for backpacking at high elevation in the Sierra. My puffy jacket which I bought for under $50 online is just as warm. This item is overpriced I would recommend you look around further.

Love that this is packable. Had another one but it wore out. Hate the logo on front and back and that solid colors (zipper and coat color) are limited and very few don't have contrasting zippers. Also there is no zippered inside pocket to pack it into just an open pocket. My old jacket also had a lining on the collar

Loved the fit but the jacket material showed feathers. Had to return. Note I was shattered as I loved the jacket. The yellow was fantastic but showed dark feathers.

I've had the jacket for a year. Fit is what I expected and it is warm. I took a tumble walking my dogs and the outside shell tore in 2 places. Two ragged tears in the shell. Lost a bit of down. Definitely not rip stop.

I decided to replace my previous jacket which was also an Ultralight 850. Unfortunately, the sizing of the newer version is very different, even though I ordered the exact same size as the older one. The sleeves on the new one are WAAAAY too long! In retrospect, I wish I had read the reviews left by other people, because I can see that several other purchasers have the same complaint. If the sleeves were the correct size, the jacket would be just fine. As it is, though, I decided to return the new one to the store. On the plus side, the return went very smoothly.

I thought I was buying the same type jacket I have owned from a few seasons ago -wrong.!!! I compared them. Both size S Regular. This new one was bigger. The stitching on the older model was a flattering slanted style.. The previous style had a cozy collar lining. I am so disappointed. If it ain't broke don't fix it the saying goes! So true! So sad to return this item.

I wanted to love this, I have an LLBean down jacket from years ago but they no longer make it. I needed a new hip length down jacket and while the color is lovely and the warmth is there, it was a strange fit on me - too tight in the hips but too large in the chest and shoulders. I tend towards a large stomach area due to a long term medication, but do not usually have issues with the hips. Disappointed, will keep looking.

Having purchased three petite LL Bean puffer coats in the past, I was disappointed in the petite offering of this jacket. As other reviewers have noted, the sleeves are absolutely not petite length. I purchased 2 petite LL Bean sweaters at the same time, and this jacket is nearly 2" longer in the sleeve. It is also 1.5" longer in the sleeve than a petite 850 jacket I purchased three or four years ago. This simply isn't petite.
The jacket is warm and light, and I kept it because I was in a bind. But, for this price, I shouldn't have to sew my sleeve cuffs up, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The jacket is very warm and the color was excellent. The quality was also superior. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the length of the jacket. I was so excited that there was a petite down jacket out there. Being a short torso girl, I wanted something length wise that was shorter. The petite was still pretty long. If the jacket was just a little bit shorter I definitely would have kept it because I loved it!

It's ok, a little flimsy, missing some of the quality things of the past. Sleeves were loose on the wrist, no hidden pockets, & not any warmer then my non-down jacket. Blue color is nice.

I love this jacketthe color, material and style until I tried it on! The sleeves are below my fingers and I take a PL. It's like it was made for a tall person. I'm so disappointed that I have to return it.

I usually wear a size 4 but ordered the small to allow for layering which was NOT necessary, the jacket was much too big. Even the sleeves were at least twice the width of my arms. The plum color was more of a true purple color which I didn't like at all in person.

I love these jackets and seem to have to order a new one every year as I always poke a hole in it on the farm and loose feathers. My only complaint is that the fabric is very fragile, and it would be nice if it was sturdier.

I love the jacket, but feathers seem to peek out of it easily.

I have had this for a couple of weeks and it just got cold enough where I live to wear it this week. I will say order a size down as it does run large. It is very warm and looks good. I like the zipper and the outside pockets. I wish the sleeves were a bit longer. But not even a week in and I already noticed a pin sized hole in the back of the jacket. I didn't get near anything that could have torn it so now I'm very worried that the slightest thing will tear it. I don't plan on wearing it under another jacket so durability is a concern. I am not sure if they can fix it. I know they made the outer part lightweight to keep the weight down and let the warmth in but if the slightest thing causes holes or tears then I don't think it's worth the money. The only reason I am giving it a lower rating is the durability. Otherwise it would be an amazing jacket worthy of the price.

I ride a bike 10 miles in 20 degree weather. This jacket has the two outside hand pockets and one giant open pocket on the inside. Unzipping a jacket to get anything is to expose your body to frigid air. Putting a cell phone in any of these is not good option. The giant inside open pocket is a huge design flaw, a cheap excuse for a pocket. At the very least, it needs a zipper.
Why not a chest pocket on the outside?

The good -- this jacket is extraordinarily lightweight, but I can tell it will be nice and toasty. The color is rich and warm, unlike so many of the girlie colors Bean uses in women's wear. (Seriously, could they not offer us the same rich warm tones they sell to men??)
The bad -- even at hip length, without a two-way zipper, I can't sit down while wearing this jacket. It bunches up around my waist. I'm pear-shaped and have curvy hips, like many women. I have become adjusted to the fact that coats will swim on my shoulders if they fit my hips. But it would work if it had a two-way zipper. I know they can do it -- one of the new zipped sweaters has that feature. So why not just put them on jackets? I can either return this or see if I can find a matching zipper in the store and pay someone to replace it for me -- quite a challenging and expensive proposition. Bean's comeback is that they put 2-way zippers on long coats -- but who goes snowshoeing or hiking in a long coat? Sigh.
In the end, this coat is a miss. Such a shame.

(Curvy build, somewhat athletic)
I have been looking for the perfect coat that can pack itself into a small pouch AND keep me warm. After much research I found this jacket and it seemed to have everything I needed on paper. I almost went up to an M, however, I ended up with a small after I was able to fit two sweatshirts and a vest under the S. I tested it out this weekend hiking some of the Presidential mountains. First off- I was SO WARM. Summit both days chilly (probably 20 with wind) and I was so comfortable. If you get cold easily, this is will keep you so super toasty!
And now, for the bad news- The shell is not durable and I already ripped my jacket. I was enjoying a peaceful (and warm in my jacket) lunch at the top and stood up to hear a small rip and feather sticking out. :( :(
So I guess to sum it up, this is super warm for daily wear but I guess not really made for anything active. So so so disappointed because of the price.

I really wanted to love this jacket. I had the older version of it and it unfortunately got stolen. The older style fit my petite frame better and it hugged to my curves better. This jacket is way poofier than the older style, despite the fact that they both had 850-fill. I really wanted to love it because the down tek material L. L. Bean uses is better compared to other companies down jackets and works well in the rain. I also love that L. L. Bean caters to a petite frame. This is very rare to come across. Wish the jacket fit me better but I have to love the way I feel in a down jacket, it just didn't happen this time. One last thing is I don't care much for the logo being up high on the right side. I know other competitors go that route, but I really appreciated it being on the lower pocket on the older model. L. L. Bean has amazing quality but this jacket just didn't work out for me sadly.

So sad because the Royal Plum color is fabulous, but the fit is huge and boxy. I might exchange it for an XS, but there are still things the jacket could have for the price, like matching fleece in collar and pockets. A longer tail and a more fitted waistline would help the look. I'd say the sizing might be right for really heavy sweaters or liner jackets underneath.
