I agree with another reviewer. Please bring back the hoodless/detachable hood version. I love that coat! It is very warm, but not heavy. With the hood off, it can even be worn for somewhat dressy occasions. I have one that is wearing out. I ordered the hooded one a couple years ago, but hated the stiff hood and returned it.

Once again I am PLEADING with you to bring back the hoodless version ( no longer offered) of your 3/4 length 850 down coat ! My original coat was a beautiful bluish plum color with chevron stitching that was very flattering from every angle, and kept me toasty warm for many years. My only minor complaint ( because I truly loved that coat) was that the collar was lined with a lightweight gray fleece that showed whenever the zipper was slightly open. When I finally needed a fresh coat, I again ordered the same coat in what I thought was the plum, only to have an orangish maroon color arrive that looked awful next to my pale winter skin; I sent that one back and included comparison photos of both coats to show why I was displeased. I next tried a navy replacement; that color was dull and ugly ( and I'm a natural blonde who generally loves all blues). I kept that one because my original coat had worn thin after MANY years, and I had a new puppy who needed training during our harsh NY winter, The navy coat was soon covered with tiny tears which back then I attributed to puppy teeth, but in reading reviews of the present 3/4 850, I begin to wonder if the fabric was overly fragile. Needless to say, the damaged navy coat became a coat for shoveling the driveway, period ( it IS very warm). EVERY YEAR from then on I've looked in your online catalog for a replacement 3/4 hoodless 850 with no success. I'm a loyal Bean customer, but unless I see the original hoodless style return in some beautiful jewel-toned purples, teals, or blues - in a fabric that' feels soft but doesn't constantly snag or shed feathers, I will be de-camping to your competitor for my next 3/4 length down coat.

Have only worn a few times and the bottom seam is torn and losing feathers. Also feathers coming out random stitching. My prior coat lasted over 10 years. I wish the hood was detachable.

I have an older version of this coat that I adored! Sadly this coat doesnt have the cinch on the bottom or the cinch in the middle to help give ot some shape. Maybe next year.

This jacket is way too small. It's like it was mismarked and fit more like a PM than PL. Exchanging.

Nice coat but arrived with a faulty zipper which made it unusable. Returned for exchange. Waiting.

Paid 279.00 and the end piece of the hood string broke off in the first month, ask them to fix and they would not do anything to make it right. LL Bean, if you are no longer forever guaranteeing your goods you should not be way over charging for your jackets!

I ordered this in XL. It fit like a tent. I then ordered an L. I can't close it. There needs to be a size in between.

I had high hopes for this 3x coat for my daughter; however, it is more like a 1x. Could not close the coat at all. I expect better from LL Bean. It was not worth the price, and I will be returning it.

I love the look and fit of this coat, and it is very warm. However, the material is so thin and so fragile that my coat has dozens of tears in it after a year of normal wear. The feathers from inside the coat have even POKED THROUGH the material of the coat and created holes. It made holes in itself! People are constantly telling me I have feathers coming out, and I am constantly patching holes. I've given up and am having to trash a $200 coat. So disappointing, from Bean.

No stars, this item was not inspected before it was sent. The zipper was broken and missing teeth!

These cuffs only have elastic on the underneath side and therefore do not fit tightly. A dealbreaker for a for that's supposed to keep me warm.

I wore this jacket once and it was windy and it did not keep me warm. This jacket costs $269 and you would hope that it would keep you warm for this price tag so I returned the item.

I was so excited about this coat and I truly do love the way it looks, but it is absolutely terrible in any temps below 35 degrees Fahrenheit. You can feel the wind blow right through this thing, similar to a spring jacket. I am so terribly disappointed that at this price point (and boasted "850 fill power") that I am experiencing this. This coat was a major waste of money and it makes me sick to my stomach to think I wasted so much on such a subpar product that won't even keep me warm... :(

Poorly proportioned. Bought for a trip to Scandinavia. Lost feathers from day one but that is not the worst the hood does not expand to actually fit over the head!!!! Not acceptable and will return for complete refund

Shortly after I begun wearing my coat, I noticed that the underarm was ripping open. It was very tiny at first, but quickly progressed to a large hole under both arms. The material is very soft but not durable for anyone moving around while wearing. This isn't what I've known and loved about LL Bean products. I'm happy to spend the money for LL Bean's high quality products, but they missed the mark on this one.

This is my second Ultralight 850 coat in 2 years. It is incredibly comfortable and warm but both coats have ripped very easily and unfortunately cannot be repaired. Once ripped, feathers fly with any movement and the coat becomes unwearable. A $250 coat should last more than 1 season.

Great fit, really warm, and lightweight. It's hard to find coats like these for Petites so I really wanted to love this one, but unfortunately I had to replace it before the end of one winter. The coat started to lose feathers soon after I washed it for the first time and to make matters worse, the coat ripped after I fell in the snow a couple weeks ago. The fall wasn't a bad one by any means so I was surprised that it did anything at all to the coat. Unfortunately because I purchased this one month outside the 1-year guarantee window, my local LL Bean store was not able to help me and simply told me that the outer material on these coats is very thin. Needless to say I was disappointed considering that this didn't live up to the LL Bean quality standards that I would expect. If you live in New England like I do and need a coat that you can wear everyday and can endure a little wear and tear, you might want to consider a different coat.

I adored this coat. It was comfortable, lightweight, and warm. Unfortunately, on day 2 of wearing this jacket, a small defect in the coat's arm began to leak feathers and stuffing. I noticed other reviewers mentioned this too, and thought I'd get lucky with my jacket. No dice. Be prepared that this jacket may have defects in material that cause leakage of stuffing. I had to return the jacket, and I'm very sad because otherwise it was P E R F E C T.

The coat fit well (large petite) and looked great at first. But pinholes (with down sticking through them) began appearing on coat about 3 weeks after I started using it. I did not walk in any area where branches or other sharp objects could have caused damage. The shell appears to be too thin or weak to withstand normal wear.

I wore this coat today in 30 degree weather & I got so very COLD! I paid extra to get the extra warm down, but it was a waste of money. The only way this coat will keep me warm is with a heavy wool sweater underneath. I expect more from L.L.Bean! This coat is not as advertised.

I normally purchase size medium; this coat fit so snuggly that size medium allowed for no warm weather clothing under it.. Returned it without purchasing a size large.
