This shirt looked great online and in cataloges and I had wanted to try the color for awhile. So I made the plunge for both my husband and our son For Christmas. I've never paid $80 for a shirt in my LIFE but this was to match a new pair of pants. My husband's first comment in the box was "this shirt is BEAUTIFUL". We both love LLbean (he's from Maine:), but he just doesn't say "beautiful". Then I washed it. It came out wrinkled, the beautiful look of the fabric was totally gone, and he doesn't want to even wear it because it looks "cheap". That's also not a word he often uses, and now we're out the $$ for this because I'm sure having washed it it can't be exchanged (can it?). If so, let me know and I'll try again, but very disappointed in the quality of this shirt. Llbean is our go to place for clothes, so...change my mind Llbean! Thank you!

My husband and I have been buying from LL Bean for 45 years. We were particularly fond of their flannel shirts and robes. Unfortunately, our latest purchases of flannels have been sorely disappointing and are not the flannel quality that we had depended on in the past. We could tell it wasn't the same flannel by just looking and feeling the shirt. It feels like a polyester fabric. The fabric is poorly woven and overly brushed so it pills after washing. After the first wash, my dryer screen was covered in over an inch of lint! I paid a premium price expecting the LL Bean quality. These are unfortunately a great disappointment.

I purchased three shirts last year and wore during the winter. Pulled them out of storage to wear this Fall and Winter and the fabric on all the shirts has started to wrinkle badly and pill. The shirts have always been washed on a light cycle and dried at a low temperature. I like the generous fit and length but very dissatisfied with the poor quality of the fabric. Not up to LL Bean standards.

I have previously purchased flannel shirts for my husband and always been very satisfied; however, this shirt fit fine until I washed it when it shrunk two sizes! ! It was washed in cold water and hung to dry as I have always done in the past. Very unhappy and disappointed with this LLBEAN product. Because of this, I would not recommend it to anyone.

I wear an XL in shirts, sweaters, etc. This shirt arrived marked XL, but in truth it was XXL or maybe XXXL. Huge. So I returned it on 10/14/20. Paid $6 as I used LLBean's shipping label. It was finally "received" by LLBean returns on 11/20/20. I had asked for an exchange: I wanted a Large. Notified that L is out of stock and will not be available until Jan 12, 2021. Notice this is after Christmas. Cancelled return.

This shirt did not last as long as one would think based upon purchase price. After 1 year 2 months with limited wearings shoulder seam ripped . It's not even tight in the shoulders!

After the third washing, one became very pilled and the other two developed frayed cuffs and a slight tear in the arms above the cuff. Little too much money to get that type of wear. In process of returning to see what LL Bean will do about it

I was so disappointed. I buy my husband a new Bean flannel shirt every October for his birthday. 2019 Shirt was so flimsy after one washing. It looks sloppy and cheap. The same flannel shirts he has from years prior have held up to LLBean standard. Hope someone let's us know when Bean returns to the old fabric so I can start buying again!

My husband loves a competitor's flannel shirts. The competitor's flannel shirts iron very well, but they also hardly need to be ironed in that they have a very tight weave. We are retired, and he wears flannel shirts all fall, winter and spring. He likes the tight weave oif the competitor's flannel shirts. as they give a sense of style.
He found this LL Bean shirt to be too unstructured, too light-weight, continually rumpled, and worst of all, he described it as having pills. Having just ironed it, I would describe it as having fibers that extend out of the weave.. The rumpledness, even after ironing, combined with the highly visible nappiness (almost pills). make the wearer lack the crisp style my husband favors.
I LOVE LL Bean. I love the fact that every item is true to size. I love the wide variety of informal variety of clothing offered to women. I love the colors and the variety of materials. I have never had an LL Bean "fail". So I was surprised at this shirt.

I hate these shirts but I am getting another one because my husband likes this pattern. Brand new out of the bag, it was perfect, but as soon as it went through the wash it shrunk, pilled, faded, and wrinkled. I babysit the shirt in the dryer to get it right as it is ready, but it is still such a high maintenance shirt. Really hate these and I wish they'd be easier to maintain.

I ordered an XL which was too big. Since I recently lost weight, that's understandable, except the 6 or 7 of my LL Bean flannel shirts are all XL and fit me well I reordered a L shirt which fit well but the sleeves were about 2 " too long. Took it back too and gave up on your flannel shirts.
Still love LLB

I have bought medium shirts, coats and other items from L L Bean for years and they have ALWAYS fit. This shirt was so large that it looked like a tent on me. In light of this, I asked that the cost of shipping the item back be waived, but my request was ignored. I didn't even get the courtesy of a response. I will take my future business elsewhere.

I used to love the scotch plaid flannel and have purchased several through the years and they have held up well. I purchase two recently and the fabric was poor quality. The shirts are fuzzy and have acquired those pills on them. I hope the fabric quality gets better someday as I would love to buy again when that happens.

I ordered a Medium Tall and the neck on the shirt was 19 inches. The entire shirt was very big so I think it was not marked correctly although the tag on shirt said medium tall. I brought it back to the store and the person said he thinks it will shrink when I wash it so I did not return it. I am returning it now.

I was disappointed in the xl shirt I purchased. Frankly it was the same material and pattern as the pajamas I'd purchased earlier. I'm concerned that over the last few years I've seen a decline in quality and sizing of your clothing. I'm not a new customer- the first article I bought from LL Bean was in 1957- and over the years I've purchased many clothing items. But I'm not sure the quality is the same. I find myself more and more willing to look elsewhere for clothing. I'm sorry this is the case, I wish it weren't.

I give my husband an LL Bean flannel shirt each Christmas. The size is always Regular/Medium. This year the shirt is overall too large. The sleeve length is over an inch longer than his other shirts. The second-to-top button is at least an inch lower than that of his other shirts causing too much tee shirt to be exposed under the flannel. Customer service reps have indicated that sizing may vary based on location of manufacture and have offered a replacement. We'll try again.

This shirt has torn completely through at the buttons - on both sides - of the button down collar. So disappointing. I have not experienced this with any other of my husband's shirts ever. LL Bean's reputation is based on high quality and durability but this product falls far short. I will not be ordering again anytime soon.

I have a closetful of these Scotch plaid flannel shirts. all of which I love. I try to purchase a new one at least once per year. Imagine my consternation and disappointment when I unwrapped this shirt at the end of November (2019) and found UNMATCHED PLAIDS at one side seam!
How can you ship out such shoddy merchandise over your name? Where is your quality control?

The color (shade) of the shirt did not match the color (shade) of the shirt in the L.L. Bean sales brochure used to place the order.

I should have reviewed this purchase a year ago. I bought this for my husband because he's been happy with other LL Bean products.
This shirt lacks the quality the previous one I ordered nearly 2 years prior. The material is pilling on this one & there is an obvious difference in the material. The only difference I can see is this one is made in El Salvador & the other from Malaysia.
For the price, I expected better quality.

I have a half-dozen LLBean flannel shirts in my closet. But this one - If this isn't mislabeled as to size, the buyer who approved it for Bean should be re-assigned. The shirt is WAY too large - sleeves something line 1.5 inches longer than another LLBean flannel (wicked good) purchased in the same order, shoulder seams drooping off my shoulders.
I come to LLBean because it's a reliable, predictable source for good-quality clothing. I HOPE this is just a one-time aberration, but it's not a good sign. This shirt is not the size I ordered, and not the size it's labeled as. It's being returned.
It's a shame - beautiful fabric, seems well-constructed...but I can't wear it.

Flannel shirts from LL Bean USED to be fabulous---washed well and lasted for years.
Sadly, no more. They look like cheap rags after a few washings. The fabric pills horribly and honestly, the ones that I have bought at department stores for less than a third of the cost of the Bean shirts look better after a winter of washing them.
I bought two Bean flannel shirts for my husband after his old Bean shirts finally wore out (after at least twenty years!) and didn't mind paying the price for what I thought would be high quality shirts. I was very surprised at the poor quality of the fabric.
I will never buy another flannel shirt from LL Bean after seeing what happened to those two shirts after washing them.

For some years now the shirts are decidedly sub-standard. They wash up as a rough facsimile of the originals. They continually shed their material in the washer & especially in the dryer until they are threadbare. I have had to send in six or more shirts in recent years for "examination" and eventual replacement. To their credit, they were replaced but, they are not what they used to be. They should return to the standards of LL himself!
