very well made, beautiful pattern. I thought it might have been a little heavier material

If you have a nice blue or green sweater you need this shirt to compliment it.

I tend to agree with other comments that the flannel these days is no longer the nice thick stuff. and that is the only reason I gave this item a four star rating. Otherwise it is a five-star. The plaids offered at LLBean are still beautifully traditional with rich colors, and once it is washed and dried this shirt will be fluffier. The thinner flannel is probably more useful if one layers it beneath sweaters. I still recommend it. Workmanship is high quality. LLBean is one of few places that offers high quality menswear in Small. Thank you LLBean!

Great shirt, large size is accurate. Soft, well-made flannel shirt that I hope to get some good years of wear out of.

Feels like one of your old time favorites right from the package. Washes well and come out of the dryer looking great. Soft and warm, at the right price. Terrific.

The shirt was nice out of the bag: XL size, esp. sleeve length which is a problem for me, was perfect. But with a flannel shirt you really can't tell how good it is until it's been washed a dozen times or so. After two washings: so far, so good.

I'll have to upgrade to an XL. The large shrank just a bit too much for comfort. Also, the white backing for the collar buttons is a little unsightly. Probably will donate to charity - it's a good shirt - and buy the XL.

This is a good, soft, mid-weight flannel: heavy enough to be warm and comfortable but not too thick or stiff (like chamois cloth). I feared the cut might be too square and boxy but it is slightly tapered so it doesn't balloon when tucked in. The seams, construction, and weight seem to indicate it will last well and not fall apart in just a couple years; time will tell.

I bought this for my son. He liked it although he felt it was a little too long.

I bought 2 of these shirts for my Halloween birthday husband who follows the male family tradition of loving wearing flannel for cooler weather. Though not as heavy as some of his older LL Bean flannels, these shirts will be great wearing for under sweaters and vests.

This is the softest shirt material. I've had them before. On first wash it pills up a bit and sheds all over everything in the washer/dryer. Wash it by itself. I haven't worn this one yet, but past shirts have held up well. Swampy

Ten years ago I purchased four of these flannel shirts and wore them for many winters. They maintained their colors and always felt comfortable; especially during Minnesota winters where layering is standard wear. This year I purchased another four flannel shirts and look forward to wearing them for years to come. They look good when new, but they get better with age. A great buy and a great fit.

this a very good shirt. i bought the red, blue and white plaids. the material is light to midweight and seemingly brushed on both sides giving the fabric a comparatively lofty feel. the colors are more saturated than they appeared on my computers but still quite nice. the cut is slightly "boxy," just enough to wear a t-shirt or light henley underneath. finally, although i was told the weight is 5 oz portuguese cotton it feels and looks heavier than the main competitor in wisconsin who claims theirs as being a slightly heftier. my only criticism is the lack of gauntlet buttons and slightly longer stitching on one sleeve placket.

Bean flannel shirts are almost always a good value for the money spent. This was the fourth flannel that I've purchased in the past two years. However I have experienced some shrinkage of the fabric over the course of multiple washings. But overall you get excellent value for the money!

I buy a new tartan for my husband every year. If this one is as good as the last ones it will wear well and look good for years. I wish they would make some real tartans for women in the same weight fabric.

I HAVE HAD A PRACTICE OF BUYING A YEARLY TARTAN FLANNEL SHIRT WHICH GIVES ME AN EXTENSIVE WARDROBE INCLUDING A ROYAL STEWART WHICH IS IN THREADS AS IT WAS PURCHASED YEARS AGO. THIS PATTERN HAS NOT BEEN OFFERED IN WELL MORE THAN A DECADE. WAS PLEASED TO SEE IT OFFERED ONCE AGAIN. I AM ENJOYING IT VERY MUCH. HOWEVER, THE NEW SHIRT APPEARS TO HAVE A TIGHTER PATTERN THAN THE OLD ONE. I LIKE THE NEW SHIRT VERY MUCH BUT PREFER THE OLD PATTERN.

Nice shirt, plentiful cut. Wash it by itself the first time, the fuzz comes off on other stuff.

Color matches sample in catalog; material and workmanship are quite good. When I was told that this item is also meant to be used as a "jacket," I sized down from Large to Medium, but the cut is still full. Maybe the fit will be better after it's washed a few times.

I purchased two of these shirts for my husband, who is well pleased with the fit and the softness of the fabric. I love the deep colors, which remain the same after washing. Will likely purchase more flannel shirts from LLBean.

I recently purchased a Lindsy Tartan Plaid Flannel shirt for a friend of mine because he wore mine almost constantly! during the Holidays of 09/10.He liked it because of the bright red/green of the tartan. I received the new one(8-20-10), it is dark like a muted or hunting tartan. Is it supposed to be like this, the color for this year? Has it been over died?It is also made in a different country than mine. It will not be washed until after he receives it for his birthday in mid December. I wonder if that will help.Has any one else noted a color problem?
