Activate U-Throat great shoe until they start coming apart 3 months after buying them. The gray band around the the shoe above the sole and heal is cracked & peeling off. These are fantastic shoes until now. I don't wear these every day and this shouldn't be happening. I love them so much I purchased multiple pairs and have them in reserve. Now I know that they will do the same thing.

I love the weight and ease of use however, I have to give a low rating as the back heel went from grey to white on the first day of use. This should never happen on a shoe at this price range. I have several Johnson & Murphy shoes and I love them as they are usually quite durable. I bought these for travel and I am very dissapointed in the color change in just one day if use.

Over priced lesser quality imposter of the olukai alapa li shoes. Buy olukai and save money and inherit the olukai quality

At least an inch too long. Otherwise nice comfortable shoe but it's too big.

I love the style. I wish I would have bought a shoe 1/2 size down. The associate that fitted me talked me into buying a little larger than I normally wear and now I don't really wear them because they don't fit right.

These shoes are very lightweight. They don't appear to be made of high quality materials. The bottom of the shoe is made of a lightweight foam. This foam has a painted blue line that matches the color of the upper. That painted line has already started to scratch off. I've had them for a month and a half and the wear and tear appears much worse than my prior pair of Cole Haan's that I wore for a year and a half. The style of the shoe has little perforated holes throughout the shoe. Those holes are also located on the bottom of the shoe. Water comes through those holes if I step in a shallow puddle or snow. I would recommend you wear something else if you ever have any possibility of rain or snow. I wouldn't buy these again.
I'd also recommend:
Cole Haan

I have many J&M. Size 11M. These are not sized correctly. It 11M I received is at least an 11. 5M. I wore them and figured it out after sloppy fit. So I live with them. BTW the label for size is not in the shoe anywhere - just an 11 on the underside of the sole insert.

Comfortable, but don't go outside in rain or snow as the breathable feature has three holes in the bottom which leads to wet socks.

I bought these because I got a similar pair a year ago that I loved. However, these don't seem to fit the same, they are OK around the heel but are too large in the toe area, and feel like they're too big. I bought my regular size that I always get from JM. I also don't like the lighter color tan as much as the darker color on the previous pair.

I bought these as the reviews suggested they are very comfortable and lightweight which was much needed for a two week vacation in France. I can attest they are very comfortable if you are going to be on your feet most of the day but they have two major downfalls (design flaws): 1.) The bottom of the shoe has a indent in the heel, if you are walking on flat polished wood floors, stone or tile it acts like a suction cup and everytime you take a step you will hear a popping sound. 2.) In wet conditons the bottom of the shoe turns into a sponge and everytime you take a step you will hear squish squish squish. In addition some surfaces will create a skating rink type feel as there isnt any tread to create stability. If you plan to be on rough pourous ground and need comfort these are the shoes but on flat surfaces and the rain you will need ear plugs.

I've been purchasing from Johnston Murphy for quite a while, and always a nice assortment of their items. Shoes, Chinos, Belts etc. I've always been a loyal client. My latest purchase was a pair of Active U-Throat Shoes that appeared to be shipping within a few days and with acquisition in a week. BUT a week into the order I receive an update that now estimates mid-October to receive these shoes. It's UNACCEPTABLE to appear that something is in stock and ready to ship, then be told it's months away. I wanted these for a vacation...and If I knew of the delay from the JM Website, I would have chosen something else. This practice sadly makes me have to re-think future purchasing...and maybe try other brands.

I haven't put this shoe through any rigorous wear and tear. They have been worn 3 times and the gray coloring or paint on the white mid sole is starting to chip/peel off. I have worn them to a meeting and 2 times around the office. I expected more for a shoe at this price range.

I bought another pair of a shoe I had happily worn for two years. The new pair wasn't quite the color shown on the website but ok. The website indicated the shoe ran slightly large so I accepted its advice (I forgot to compare with my old pair). The new shoes felt tight but I thought maybe they'd stretch as I wore them. They didn't and are too small. I'll have to buy another pair of shoes so disappointed.

The shoes look good and fit well. However, they're the most uncomfortable shoe I've ever warn.

Poor fit, ran wide on my foot. Called Cust Service HQ and was given a store near me to return. Drove half hour to said store and they don't do returns, they Fed Ex shoes back to HQ and then I wait for reimbursement on my credit card. HQ lady was nice, wish I hadn't been sent to that store. HQ lady, Nancy? Took care on her end fine

I like the shape and design if the shoe. I just didn't like the material of the shoe. It felt really "plastic".

Nice looking shoe, but I was disappointed by its flimsy feel, uncomfortable fit and hard inner sole. My new pair of New Balance sneakers felt snug and comfortable from the start. I'm sending the JM Amhersts back and keeping the new balance shoes. I have liked the JM dress shoes over the years, but not these.

Loved the look, but I wore them in the house for a few hours and they were uncomfortable. The fold of the fabric rubbed the top of my feet and I wasn't confident that they would break in. I was disappointed to have to return these shoes, the first pair of JM shoes I've had a problem with.

The shoes are very light, good quality, nice style, and did appear to be true size. However, they either run small in length, or their backstay and heel counter are defective because they have created a huge, bloody, and painful blister in each of my feet especially the right one. See pictures attached.

I love Johnston Murphy shoes and I have over 12 pair of your shoes. These have rubbed blisters on my ankle and the top of my foot with the side edge and on the tongue of the shoe there are rough surfaces. So far I am disappointed in this shoe
