I run a lot, primarily on trails, and ONLY in Topo. The trails are steep, challenging, and technical. I buy 13 plus pairs of Topo a year. These shoes are dangerously sloppy when compared to the original Ultraventure. Topo claims the microfiber liner helps make them more secure; I can find no evidence this is true, and the reviews generally support my experience. The heel padding has been decreased leading to it being almost impossible to secure an acceptable heel lock. If the original Ultraventure fit you well then these are unlikely to be satisfactory. I strongly recommend that serious trail runners look elsewhere. If you are using them for hiking then you would be fine, they are similar in fit to Altra's popular through-hiker. In the end, these are basically closer to an Altra fit, but with a Topo logo slapped on them. However, if the recent Ultraventure Pro fits you nicely then these fit very similarly. I desperately want to just like these shoes, I am an expat in South Korea and I cannot get any other shoes. I only wear Topo, but right now there are zero options for serious trail runners from this brand. The MTN Racer 2 has reviewed well, much better than the UV Pro or UV 2, so I am hoping that shoe goes back to Topo form.

I was a big fan of terraventure 2. But the terraventure 3 is amazing. As a disabled hiker I have had multiple brain surgeries, multiple spine fusions and refusions, to many knee operations. Topo has changed my life. I am doing more that I have in years from road walking to hiking. My feet feel good these really help my knees, back and whole spine. I always tell people if Altra and hoka one one had a baby topo is it. Great upgrade. Thanks as always topo.

The original Ultraventures were incredible trail shoes. Right out of the box, I could comfortably backpack 15-18 miles. I have been averaging 550-750 miles a pair. I completed the John Muir Trail and over 300 miles in the Sierra Nevada. I saw somw reviews of the Ultraventure 2's and became concerned regarding the smaller toe box. Sure enough, the Ultraventure 2's toe box feels more narrow which is causing a slight collapse on the outside of my left shoe near my fourth toe. I am disappointed with the revisions and may have to look, again, for another trail shoe.

These are everything I've ever wanted in a trail shoe for ultra distances. I normally prefer minimalist trail runners, but while training for my first 100 mi race I needed something with a bit more protection and these checked all the boxes. I don't know how they pulled it off -- comfortable, secure fit, low drop, wicked durable and just enough cushioning that doesn't feel like running in platform shoes. I have put somewhere between 800 - 1000 miles on my first pair and they are still going strong! Just starting to break in my second pair for the big race in a few weeks.

Used this shoe for the first lap of an ultra (about 30 ish miles). Loved how responsive and comfortable it was! The fit is definitely true to size. I took these out on trails that were full of roots and rocks with 11k feet of elevation. Had zero issues with traction or fatigue. My only complaints were possible lateral stability and feeling some of the rocks. A rock plate may help here, but then that would add weight. Great job!

I have been running in the Ultraventure Pro for all of my trail runs and now that I have the MTN Racer 2, I reserve the UV Pro for my longest trail runs. The MTN Racer 2 is perfect for everything else. Its more nimble and runs well on buffed out trails but is rugged enough for the more technical stuff. I sized down to a 9 but could probably have stuck with a 9.5, even though the 9.5 in the UV Pro is a tad long. This shoes checks all the boxes: wide toe box, moderate drop, rugged and light.

These are great athletic shoes recommended by our pedorthist due to the amount of drop and wide toe box. I have these and Ultras Adventure 3 and like both.#sweepstakes

Just received them. Haven't worn them anywhere but around the house but they are comfortable and I'm hoping my reaction will be the same whenever I hit the trails !

Running on a dirt road in these feels like I'm floating. I switched from Asics GT-2000 and got the same size and they fit perfectly. #sweepstakes

I put about 20 miles of mixed terrain per week. Ultraventure transitions perfectly into kettlebell gym training as well. The ortholite footbed is very stable and shoe geometry is just right.

I'm currently hiking The Camino Frances in my Topos. They are the best shoe ever for me.I've bought many other shoes so my expierence on the Camino would be great. The tow box and the belt that keeps your toes from hitting the front of the shoe have saved me much pain.I can't begin to tell you how my left fourth toe has caused me ridiculous pain. Not with my Topos Adventure 2.I bought a full size larger and I'm glad I did.

Run, don't walk to buy these shoes. After buying several pairs of other brands that didn't fit, I felt like Cinderella when I put these on. They're simply great for long hikes.

These shoes are comfortable. The Toe Box is larger than most any other brand I have tried. I'm not really a runner, so I cannot comment on that, but at least for walking, these are pretty darn nice. As mentioned, a bit more room for the toes, but a normal size heel area. Good padding. Not hot. I'm having a hard time finding something negative about these shoes.

This is my second pair of Ultraventures. They fit great, I use them for road running, trail running, and light hiking. They offer terrific balance, support, and traction. They last very well too. I literally walked my way out of the tops after about a year and a half. They are pricey, but they are one heck of a shoe, I highly recommend them.

Some models I use for work- remodeling kitchens, building decks etc. I don't like wearing heavy work boots. Others for hiking.and others for lifestyle. All are incredibly supportive and light. Very comfortable. . The large toe box and overall shape are key. I now am rotating 5 pairs. PS. Please allow us to select more than one "usage" category above.

I purchased the Topo Ultraventure 2 for hiking long distances (10-15 miles) on mostly packed trails while carrying a moderately heavy backpack (17 pounds). I have wide feet and size 12 is a perfect fit. No blisters, hot spots, or problems of any kind. The shoe breathes well and is super comfortable even after many miles of hiking. The Vibram outsole is very durable. I'm seriously considering the Ultraventure 2 for when I hike the Camino de Santiago this Spring.
