For me, the 1080v9 was the best this model achieved. With the v10 New Balance radically changed the feel and form of the shoe. This new v11 mostly copies the things I disliked about the v10. I don't feel supported. The shoe is too tight across the top of my foot. And my feet tend to roll inwards unnaturally causing knee problems. I have no idea why New Balance changed from the v9 but I get the feeling engineers were trying to justify their jobs and change something that didn't need to be changed.

The heal cup is too low compared to the v10 version and my heal slips when walking up hills. I compared it directly to a v10 and the cup is lower and less pronounced. If you love the v10, grab them before they are all gone.

Year after year, version after version, I loved the NB 1080. Beginning with v10, NB ruined these shoes. I hoped that v11 would be better than v10, but nope. NB changed where the tongue attaches to the shoe, so it is higher up and runs across the bone on top of the foot. And the tongue seam is sloppy enough that it has the effect of leaving a ridge across that part of the foot, which is painful after a short time. Booooooo!

If you are reading the early reviews on here and the low star score, don’t worry, the rating will improve as these are great shoes. They use the exact same chassis as the v10’s, and give you that dreamy ride with the stability included. The upper fits a little looser because it is more breathable. It may give the impression of being loose but with lace adjustments and breaking in the shoe, you will be rewarded with moccasin level comfort with some bounce. Top internet and social media reviewers almost all have these shoes in their top 3. If you liked the v10s you’ll like these too. If you’re new to the 1080 line, if they match you’re gait you will fall absolutely in love!

I have extra wide feet and am always struggling to find good running shoes that fit well and don't hurt my feet when I'm running. I have a pair of 4E NB 1080v10 shoes. These were at the time the best running shoes I could find that would fit my feet. They were still quite snug and I would just have to bear the discomfort while running. I figured I may as well try the new V11 version. They made a huge difference. I don't know if the width of shoes just naturally vary, but the v11 fit my feet much better than the v10. They are so comfortable and the upper material seems softer as well. My feet actually don't hurt now when I run. Some people are complaining about the new heal design, but I haven't had a problem. I would recommend these to anyone with extra wide feet and/or want a soft cushioning running shoe.

Seems that the room in the toe area a bit small. Not happy with that. Was going to return but your site says can not return if worn. Not happy about that also.

Not sure what NB did in the redesign of this shoe but it is absolutely HORRIBLE!. The heel box isn't deep enough to cover the heel at all. Your heel just flips right out. Maybe a little too much "fresh foam" and not enough depth to accommodate your heel. A real shame as I've been wearing them for years as my summer sneakers and the 990's as my winter sneakers. Would not buy again.
