Let's just start with this is my all time favorite trail running shoe...which is also stupid fast on pavement. The shoe fits amazing and feels amazing right out of the box. It's very light and it's fast, very fast. It is an extremely smooth shoe to run in, transitions are fast and efficient. The grip is excellent on pavement, fire roads, single track, rock, and steep hills...up and down. I do quite a bit of door to trail running and Pulsar is what I reach for over and over as it also has fantastic and very fast road manners. The cushion is enough for me to take it long. Fit is true to size however for short races such as 10k I'll go down a half size. Absolutely love this shoe!

Shoes are true to their name, and send your feet and legs pulsing! The forward camber really encourages that driving momentum. Have tried the shoes on all terrains and fit my feet like a glove. I would recommend for fairly groomed trails with not too much technical rocky section, however you can get away with them on most mountain terrain providing it is not too loose like scree slopes. Also been tried as shoes for gym circuit sessions, along with treadmill sessions, and work really well. I have not tried them on the track but I think for a trail runner apprehensive to get a different specific track shoe that these would double up just as well. They are not so great in wet mud but that is understandable as their sole is not very grippy with shallow lugs, but this could be a future improvement for them for more technical terrain races. In terms of time in shoes I have had them on for 6.5hrs maximum on a training run and had no issues with my feet at all, and the shoes has stood strong to the test also. Really good training shoe, although i feel they would get worn quicker than other robust materials due to their lighter mesh construction, which is also very tough also.
Utimately, can't wait to try these shoes out a skyraces and mountain marathons and shorter ultras with good paths on a crisp summer's day where you can really go hard. The pulsars really feel like you can push to the next level and are a very exciting new concept from Salomon that I am excited to see how their design progresses.

I just had my first run on this shoos. It was an amazing feeling. Its so light and the cushioning is great. My run was on pretty easy terrain. I think this is where it would be wet. It was a run at our coastline and it was pretty dry. I think if its to rough terrain and wet there are better choice but for fast runs non good trials it would be perfect. My run yesterday was 25K (16 miles)

The purchase of this Solomon shoe was based on a previous purchase of a hiking shoe. They are well designed but very difficult to pull on. I was able to facilitate putting the shoe on by using a large serving spoon as a shoe horn. Strange but it works well. Once on, these shoes fit and function like a dream. I am not a runner but walk daily. These shoes have a narrow sole which prevents an ongoing metatarsal pain issue I have been plagued with. I would like to see this shoe design in a standard lace up but as is, I would highly recommend this shoe. Salomon is really on to something with this shoe.

This is an early review of the product, as I have only been on a handful of outings with this shoe, but..... I can't say enough about the feel and turnover with this product. The weight is mid blowing, but yet they somehow don't seem to reveal the minimal approach. I've run up to 40km with them on a combination of packed dirt, pavement, loose gravel and they seem to be up to the challenge. In the transition zones between ground type, there is a noticeable difference and the shoe seems to be very at home on the packed dirt trails, they love the quicker stride and extra bit of absorption from the dirt. The only note thus far that I would recommend watching out for, would be the mid foot of the shoe which is quite slim and won't be too kind for wider feet. If the shoe fits, wear it, and wear it with a smile on your face! Not sure why the color is called "Vapor Blue", if you are expecting Blue, it will be a stretch.

I haven't put a lot of miles on these yet but for me it is a short distance trail sprinter, and actually is very nice on pavement. Probably as light and springy of a shoe that you can find. It definitely is a specialized shoe and for me not a daily distance runner. The cusion is nice and the shoe is very snug, they feel like putting on a sock and might be tight enough to run in without even tightening the laces. The lightness of the shoe is incredible, but I would trade some weight for a little more heel. There is not much protection from rocks and rough terrain, but I believe this shoe was designed to be a light, short distance sprinter and it is excellent for that.

I like these so much that I ordered my second pair after 100 miles. I have a narrow foot and these hug my feet without any hot spots. The cushion is great but they don't feel unstable. Tread pattern is really grippy and great for dry conditions. These shoes seem to roll my feet through the stride and are still very agile on rocky single track. Love these shoes.

Finally decided to give these a try after noticing them on sale. For this type of running I initially purchased the Salomon Phantasm, when newly released, and appreciated the cushioning, however, would develop blisters on my pinky toes after 5k each run and have retired the shoe after less than 50 miles. I always assumed that if the Phantasm caused blisters there is no way I'd fit in the Pulsar. I was mistaken and it feels as though this shoe was designed specifically for my foot. First run was only 4 miles on pavement averaging 6:45/mile but no hot spots or blisters whatsoever whereas the Phantasm would have definitely caused an issue. I purchased a shoehorn after reading reviews prior to receiving the shoe but find no issues with putting the shoe on. I appreciate the quicklace far more than regular laces as well. This shoe will definitely be my new 5k and 10k pavement/cinder trail race shoe. I will also try this shoe for longer distances up to a half. If you were waiting or wondering about this shoe because of the fitment reviews I'd say give it a shot, you may be pleasantly surprised as I was. I also purchased the Pulsar SG and am just as happy. As a side note I am 40 years old and run 20-30 mpw with a 5k < 20 mins and a half marathon in 1:30:00 as of last month. I now wish I would have purchased these shoes instead of trying multiple other pair at slightly lower prices and being disappointed, costing more money overall.
Phantastic,

Tough to hold back when you get the Pulsar on your feet! Love the super light feel, fit and responsiveness of these shoes!
My plan was to use these for speed work and races mostly, but hard to resist wearing them for everyday runs too. A surprising amount of cushion and protection in such a light shoe.
I found that going up a half size from normal gave me the best fit. Even still, I always prefer going sockless in these.
As others have mentioned, it's a little more difficult getting them on your feet due to the sock like fit, but once you do they are amazing. I find that using a small shoe horn is very helpful with getting them on. In future, I think that having a small loop on the heel tab might help with getting them on a little easier, but not a concern.
Definitely one of the more fun shoes I've worn in a while!

I live on a hard pack, class 5 gravel, rail to trail. All my miles are on this surface, and these are the best running shoes for this type of trail I have ever owned. They don't have all the unnecessary lugs and girth of "hardier" trail shoes, and this makes them light and super nimble. My only complaint is they are pretty tough to get on, due to their glove-like fit. Once on, they are amazing and fit better than any shoe I have ever worn.

I bought the s/lab ultra 3 in my usual 9 1/2 and realized the sizing is a 1/2 sizing big, so I got these s/lab Pulsars in 9. These are made to run nimble & quick . With dropped heel and minimalist glove like fit, energy put in is the energy put back .

I can't tell you how much I love this shoe. It's simply the best fair weather trail shoe that Solomon makes. The tred isn't super aggressive, but that reduces the weight and makes it really fast for mixed road / trail running. The shoe will change the way you run, as it pushes you forward in your stance slightly, whilst reducing your heel impacts. It's a finness trail shoe, made for those who love to bounce and prod their way along the trail with a bit of grace... I will say, if you have any ankle rolling issues, this isn't the most stable shoe that Salomon makes, but it will get you to become more mindful of your stride and foot placement. In fact, you might even find that it improves your ankle issues by getting you to concentrate more on your foot impact and become less of a lazy trail runner....
My only negative would be lack of weather proof version... would love to see this in gore tex for winter or shoulder season running in wet climates like the Pacific Northwest.

These shoes are great for workouts 5 miles long to races 50 miles long. They're super light weight with enough traction on the trails whether they're grassy or gravelly. Great for speed work and longer training runs!

I've had these for a couple months now and have put around 100 miles on them. they are my favorite trail shoes from Salomon thus far. I prefer a minimal, low drop trail runner and these are that. The rocker midsole and internal shank encourage forefoot striking which keeps you moving at a high pace. I've broken several PR's on local Montana trails after getting these. They're great for a fast race-day shoe or for any sort of training run.

On my second pair this year. My go to shoes for long races on less technical terrain and even pavement. Pulsars are ultra light, cliche but you forget you are wearing them. The only negative would be that the color really takes a mauling after muddier races, even after washing.

I bought a pair one right after the other. A shoe motivating me to go out for more adventures. A big plus was that aided my left foot Tweeks. Pain free running. The only problem is that it is highly coveted shoe & supplies are limited.

I have only put 32 miles on the shoe at the time of this review, so keep that in mind when reading this. The Pulsar fits very snug along the mid-foot and this is very noticeable when first putting on the shoe. This had me pretty concerned at first, however, while running I have not gotten any sensations of it being too tight, in fact the upper fit feels about perfect. The Pulsar is SUPER light and seems to carry speed incredibly well. I will probably use this shoe for shorter trail races (30K or less) with less technical terrain. For longer more technical races I would seek out a shoe with deeper lugs and a midsole more geared for that kind of abuse.
I have given this a 5 star review based on what I think this shoe is good for. Which is fast trail racing!

To keep it short and sweet. I wore this shoe for a 55K Ultra race with over 2500 meters of elevation, some seriously steep hills. Covering many surfaces including asphalt, technical trails, wet/dry grass, cinder, cement and sand. And the Pulsar just performed incredibly.
The grip is just incredible, it gripped so well on wet grass when going down steep hills. The lightest of the shoe is just heavenly. The response you get from the midsole is just pure performance at its best.
Just but it and you will not be disappointed.

This shoe is exceptional in every way. I feel guilty when I run cos I can sense the shoe wants to go faster and further than I can offer it! I am not qualified to write a detailed review so all I want to say is this is the best trail shoe I have ever used, and I have been through alot of trail shoes. I have read people commenting about the toe box shape, but personally I think it's perfect and wraps like a sock around my foot. Please make more cos they are sold out here in Norway and I want another pair, a pair my my wife and a pair for my son, and a pair to put on my shelf for when I am old and cant run any more. Thank you Kilian and the Salomon design team for giving us this shoe.

Easily the best running shoe i've ever had. Purchased to race up to half marathon but feel confident they'll be great for 50k. Already ordered a second pair to start rotating them. Have only used in dry conditions but don't expect them to be much good on wet soft ground. Unbelievably light, cushioned and comfortable. Could easily be used on road/track as a fast racing shoe too.

Unbelievable shoe, I keep saying to my wife "how did they do it". How can a trail shoe be so light, cushioned, supportive and most importantly FAST!
It does say "racing shoe" and that was my intention in my shoe quiver, but so many runs I can't help but reach for this shoe, it's just so much fun. Even on designated easy runs, the shoe/rocker says "are you serious, push me, let's go"
It is narrow, if that works for you, don't hesitate, they are worth it.

These are the best Salomon trail runners I've ever owned. I have three other pairs of Salomon runners, including the Speedcross 5, Sense Ride 3, and Index 01, and these are far and away the best and the ones I'll reach for.
Things I love:
- ride is bouncy (like no other Salomon shoe I've worn)
- super light
- sock like fit
- sole points you forward and promotes better running posture
I'd love to see these in a few other colours in the future. The light grey will get very dirty quickly where I run. Also, maybe a gore-tex version for running in the rain.
Super impressed. Easily a 5 star review.
Purchase a half size up if you're unsure. I'm between a 11.5 and 12 in Salomon and went with the 12 for this one. Fits great.
