I can honestly say this shoe is unreal! Key note: Use it for what it was intended for. Fast, shorter (under 50K), and somewhat untechnical trails! The fit is spot on and hugs the foot perfectly. The cushion is just right for ground feel and responsiveness. To keep it short this shoe is race ready and is truly enjoyable!

They are incredibly light but still have a good level of responsive, bouncy cushioning. The combination of the cushioning and the shape of the sole help to propel you forwards, they feel easy to run fast in. Although, they are a trail shoe, the level of cushioning and the way they feel means they work really well on the road too. The fit for me is perfect. The tread isn't very deep so probably not suited to very muddy conditions. Probably the best trail shoes I've ever had.

First run in these, mixed crush stone trail and some technical trails mixed in. Shoe was incredibly light, cushioned, responsive...just a blast! Usually run in Hoka Evo Speedgoat or Salomon Speedcross. I can see using these to race or when I just want to go fast, which is relative for me. The shoe definitely rocks you forward when you first put it on, but, the feel is natural when running. Prefer not to use the lace pouch with any of Salomon trail shoes unless things get too technical and the laces could snag. Overall, I can see this being my go to training shoe despite it being designed to be for racing. Great job, Salomon!

I only did a couple of run on pavement and light white road but i already see how there are going to be used quite a lot with the spring approaching. Feel like a compression sock once put on and they feel weird for walking but once they pick up speed they roll fantastically, the cushioning is incredibly effective and they seem to be build to run uphill , i barely pull the laces as they fit just fine, they actually run tight. I cannot believe so much cushioning was possible in a shoe that weight next to nothing. One nibble only that i hope wont get worse is a slight crease on the right shoe upper, i can't say i feel it yet. If i knew it i would have bought a half size bigger to avoid such problem.

Oh boy, these shoes Generally, I'm not one for writing a review, but since there are very few reviews online I thought I would share my thoughts on these new trail racers. They are awesomely comfortable, the fit works so well with my feet, really dialled at the heel, good hug at the forefoot and roomy toebox, even with the classic more pointer Salomon shape. That said, the toebox crease runs just over my little toe and although it hasn't caused any blisters, it is noticeable. The Energy Surge EVA feels plush (especially for a Salomon), and the rocker pushes for a quicker cadence, coupled together, creates a snappy, propulsive shoe - the energy return is second to none. The Pulsars are incredibly light; my size 48EU is 219g this lightweight trail shoe isn't to the detriment of stability, protection or comfort. I would say they excel in every way over my Sense 7's and Sense Pro's. The full outsole is grippy and seems robust, and is more at home on compacted trails. There isn't anything I dislike about these, my only concern would be longevity, in particular how long the EVA will remain so snappy - all this awesomeness must come at a cost? I've logged about 50km in these so far, ranging from steady efforts, hill and speed work. These will be my go to racing shoe for everything, from the statuary parkruns to my 100km in the summer. The cost is high but well worth it, I would love to see a Pulsar Pro version that could be used as more of a training shoe.

Had these about a month. I have ran about 80k in them and on a fair bit of varied terrain to give future purchasers a fair review to read. Firstly, they look really really good. They are not done justice on the web/photos, I was surprised how good they looked when I got them out of the box!! They are super light and you hardly notice that you are wearing them, I'd say they feel quite a bit lighter than the Sense 8's (and they are light). They have defo got a rocker in the mid foot, which give you not only a springy feel, but nice cushioning underfoot. I have ran on a mix of road, trail & out in the hills. They were great on all 3 types of terrain. Only done a couple of hilly runs in them and it was dry (ish) - the drop felt great (didn't feel insecure in the ankles), they feel nimble/agile and make you wanna run fast. The only down side for British hills, as they are generally muddy and wet would be the lug depth - you would slip all over the place as you would get no traction, but they are not designed for that anyhow. If it was dry and rocky terrain they would perform awesome!! Roll on the summer, so I can get whipped in a race lol

Simply the BEST trail shoe Salomon have produced. The cushioning is just enough and the energy return is fantastic. You can't even notice you are wearing them as they are so light. The level of protection is unparalleled for the lightness for this shoe.

Lots of protection for such a light package. Very nimble as expected. Better traction than expected. Although designed for buffed out trails, the trails around here are still snow covered and rough. The shoes held fine even in these conditions. They encourage a quick turnover and are soft encouraging bombing down the steeps.

Bought this pair right before they disappeared from the website. The 2.0 version that replaced them is certainly a downgrade, so glad I grabbed these when I did. The pinnacle of Salomon's trail racing line was the Sense 7 and Sense 7 SG, but sadly the Sense line is discontinued. There's been a steady decline in quality and innovation of Salomon products over the last 3-4 years, and I don't understand why.

I purchased these after being disappointed with the ultra, I chose size 12 as that is what i normally go for in Salomon & where the ultra are way too large these are the complete opposite. My toes are so close to the end, i almost sent them back but i got them at a really good price & gave them a go. I'm really glad i did as they seemed to loosen up a bit & my foot didn't move around & hit the ends of the shoe. The midsole felt really great and overall the shoe is almost perfect really the sort of shoe I like nimble light & fast. They work as a road to trail, grip is good although may go for the SG next time. The main issue for me is the midfoot is narrow, my foot width is normal & really presses against the outside of the upper. There is some give in the upper & i'm careful not to over tighten the laces as this helps but there is still a bit of discomfort if running longer distances. This maybe rectified by going up half a size or maybe version 2 has a bit more width we are only talking needing a few more millimetres.

Worn these on several Florida trail/XC races up to 26.2.. They are super snug, light, run great.. Normally wear a 10 with Salomon.. These cause consistent toe-end/under-nail blisters on any run 10+ miles, even with toe caps.. Maybe should go 10.5 or try SG.. No blisters with S-Lab Ultra 3, or Ultraglide..

I truly wish I could wear these. I took them through 100 miles since owning them for about two weeks. Simply the lightest, bounciest shoe I have ever used. They keep you on your toes and are a dream to run in. I thought I would be able to wear them in and stretch the forefoot width but to my dismay I just ended up hurting my feet. If they made these in a wider size or even a "standard" size I would buy these for the rest of my life.

I've been wearing Salomon almost exclusively for the past twelve years. I have completed a 50K (at a minimum) in almost every model and version number of S-Lab XT, Wings, Sense, and Ultras since. My foot is very narrow so I really appreciate the Pulsar's narrow fit and return to the tight European toebox. That being said, I think the shoes run a half size short. I'm usually an 11 but will need to size up to an 11.5 before I start logging big miles. My big toes would hate me if I tried to run an ultra in an 11. I'm going with 4 stars at the moment, but hoping to upgrade to 5 when I've worked through the sizing issue. More to follow!

Just got my hands on these (haven't taken it outon the trails as I'm contemplatingreturning it due to the width); I must say the weight is incredibly light and the upper seems very interesting. My only complaint after trying it on is that the forefoot area is too slim for my foot. Salomon should consider making a wider version.

Instant fit and comfort out of the box. Was questioning how they would be to run in because of the minimal nature, and was quietly answered with a smile. The shoe isn't the easiest to get on but after you have it on you will want to get out and go. I have run about 250 miles so far and still my favorite road to light trail shoe. Still haven't taken it on anything rock/technical heavy trail but on hard packed its a fast shoe.

The shoe is comfortable and well designed overall. There is a problem with the design of this slip-on style however. They are difficult to pull on, needing a shoe horn to pull the heel area back in order to pull the shoe on. Also, wear socks that come up your ankles. I have quite a bad blister above my heel from wearing “no show “ socks.

This shoe is amazing. It's got a great ride, is incredibly light for the amount of cushion, and fits great for a race specific shoe. It's unlike all of the other Salomon trail shoes I've had up to this point, Sense Ride, Sense Pro, S-lab Ultra, and Ultra Pro in a very good way in that it has an obvious rocker and much more bouncy, cushioned ride (Salomon have always had a firmer more protective ride quality to their midsoles in my opnion). I have encountered one issue with the upper, and it's not unlike issues with other very popular trail shoes on the market, in that it has creased above my first metatarsal and a bit onto my big toe. As the upper is stiffer (not that it's stiff) there is some irritation, and but I'm not giving up on the shoe. It is only affecting my left foot, and I can't say that this is going to happen to everyone. If you have a higher volume foot (and I don't) I would suspect you would be at greater risk for this issue, and it may just be my pair of shoes. It will be interesting to see if others have this issue. Overall, it's a step in a great direction for Salomon.

These are the lightest trail race shoes I've ever used and ideal for hill climbs as it feels like running bare feet with cushioning. My main concern is that after only 10 miles of light trails the outsoles are already starting to look shredded up so durability is my main concern. I have a fairly wide foot and was pleasantly surprised that they fitted ok (just). It's a tight fit and hard to get into at the start. This will prob loosen off for future runs. Very small lugs for light trails, almost a road shoe. They are designed to be mainly mid/forefoot as heel cushioning is not that much esp if you are used to max e.g. Hokas. Overall I love the light weight feel, aimed at experienced race athletes. Sole durability is my concern.

These shoes are super comfortable right out of the box. My only issue with them is that they are VERY hard to pull on. There isn't a tab on the back of the shoe to pull them on with, and the heel material is super flexible. So I had to hold stick my fingers into the shoe to pull them on. Not a very graceful or quick process. Aside from that, I'd say that if you're looking for a light blue shoe, this isn't it. These are more of a pale lilac color.

I bought this shoe about a month ago and have given it a good few miles now. The first thing I noticed when I took them out of the box is they looked very thin through the midfoot to heel. I usually run in the slab sense and it fits perfectly. I had read reviews that they are hard to get on, this is only true of the first few times but once you have the teqhnique down and have broken them in they are as quick if not quicker than normal trainers. When I first tried them on the forefoot felt great but I did feel like I was spilling over in the midfoot and the heel. I did notice this too much out on the trails and the hills..I did get a hot spot in my arch and a blister but after the skin toughened up a bit in the area it wasn't too much of an issue. Personally I wouldn't get another pair of the pulsar they are super light but I feel they have just carved material from the heel and midfoot to aid this weight drop. Personally I will just go back to the slab sense and sense sg I find these fit my feet great and feel great in and with the responsiveness. They also handle the uk trails a bit better.

This shoe is light, fast and comfortable. If it fits your foot, buy it! R-Camber is definitely a concept that should be used on all Salomon shoes. This midsole foam is needed in the next S/Lab Ultra shoe - it could really liven up that shoe and decrease the weight! The only compliant, and its a big one is the toe box shape and sizing. Who's foot is really that shape? The wicked witch of the west... I usually wear an 11.5 or 12 in Salomon shoes. The 11.5 was too short for me, which is fair enough, the 12 is the perfect length. Unfortunately the toe box is extremely narrow, it crushes your little toe. I had hoped they might stretch when used, but the rand seems to prevent this, so I can only use them for 5-10k runs before it becomes uncomfortable. I then purchased the 12.5 expecting it to solve my problem, but its huge! The excess of material across the top of the foot makes it hard to get a good lockdown without the tongue and material over the toe box folding over, which is uncomfortable. I also can't feel the R-camber as my toes are now too far from the end of the shoe. R-camber appears to be a concept that's very sensitive to foot position within the shoe. Please Salomon, make the shoe 2-3mm wider in the toe box so people with normal width feet can enjoy the full experience of these shoes, and be consistent on sizing! It's a 5 star shoe with a - 3 for toe box design.

Likes: the design, upper tech, midsole squishiness, super lightweight Dislikes: way too narrow, really uncomfortable (even after removing the padding stitched on the inside of the knitted pseudo tongue, and the lacing system), these physically hurt my heels and soles, there's close to no padding, the upper is way too hard and jabs my foot, the midsole should have been bigger, and for some reason my heels seem to stay lower than the rest of the foot.
