The boots are light and look good. I bought half size down according to the reviews and recommendation. It fits well in length, but the middle part of my pinkies are pinched from the top, especially on the left foot. Loosen up the laces helped but didnt completely remove the pressure. Im not sure if this is part of the break in.

The boots have thick ankle padding that makes it difficult to keep the lacing tight. One solution would be another set of lacing hooks on the ankle. Otherwise they are very well done but I wouldn't recommend them.

I have been looking for new hikers for about two years now as I have oddly sized feet (Women's 11.5 or 12, AA width) and was hopeful after hearing that Salomons fit narrow. This seems like a great boot, but sadly I had to return it. I was delighted to discover that the biggest size (11) had plenty of room in the toe (length) so I would say these fit a bit long (which is great unless Salomon can consistently offer 11.5 as an option). Unfortunately, despite their relatively narrow fit compared to other brands, they are still too wide. When I tightened the boot with my hiking socks on, the top of the toe box buckled and my foot was still sliding around inside. Please, Salomon, offer an AA width for people like me. We deserve to have access to comfortable, stable hiking boots like everybody else.

It took me several misses before getting a hit with these new Salomon hiking boots. They grip our wintry icy trails well, and keep my feet dry. I love getting to choose a non-neutral color too! Ive recommended them to my hiking friends.

Fortunately I bought my first pair in store so I could try them on, because I ended up in a Womens size 8 instead of my usually 8.5 Loved them so much, I ordered a second pair, the exact same one, these ones for my duty boots (paramedic). By fair the easiest hiking boots I have ever broke in. They were comfy first day. Highly recommend. Just ordered winter boots here. Hopefully they are just as great!

I purchased these after a ton of research online.. it was between these and another brand. Absolutely LOVE these boots! Theyre comfortable with a thick sock, handle any/all terrain very well, and the waterproofing is impressive! Im a K9 Handler for a local volunteer team, and I was looking for something that would hold up for miles. I also have had 2 lower back surgeries, so comfort and stability is a must. These boots have it all! I do recommend wearing a pair of thick socks, and even wearing them around the house for a few days to break in the toe area. Ive recommended these boots to our entire SAR K9 Team!

Bought about 3/4 weeks ago, use every day, twice a day to walk my young dogs in muddy, wet woodland, unfortunately they are not waterproof. Bought all the recommended cleaning and waterproofing products but still leaking , not very satisfactory

These were good shoes for about the first 20 miles. Unfortunately there wasn't enough padding behind the top lace grommets and they started to dig into my ankles. Loosening the lacing didn't help. I have to wear them unlaced at the top now, sacrificing the ankle support I was looking for. Other than that, they are high-quality.

The material on the top of the toe is *very* stiff where the foot creases between the toes and foot and is quite painful on the top of my foot. I keep hoping that it will soften with more use but it hasn't yet and is extremely uncomfortable to wear. The sole is comfortable but for the high price I paid for these, this boot should be far more comfortable. Would not recommend.

These were a warranty replacement and I took the advice of other reviews and went down a size form the chart (and it was only half a size up from my old boots), which was fine for length, but the boots rubbed on the side of my foot, so going to have to try the wide fit, which is a shame as there is no choice in colours. The boot seemed quite rigid, and also I would add that the front of the boots did not match - the front pad stuck out noticeably more on one than the other. I agree with other reviews I've seen that the quality of Saloman products do not match the prices being charged!

I do not run but I like to take walks. In the past years I had been wearing running shoes for hiking. My feet seemed tired after all the walks. We were traveling to the Canadian Rockies, so I was looking for a water proof hiking shoes as I read that I should wear hiking shoes. This is my first pair of hiking boots after trying Hoka and many other brands including Salomon. I have long toes and this model gives me the best toes room. I did not have sore feet after my walks and I love the look of the shoes. I have over 10 pairs of running shoes in my closet, I guess bye bye to running shoes and hello Salomon hiking shoes!

Ordered these in my regular hiking shoe size and they were way too big. Went to a store to try on the half size and full size smaller and they still didn't fit right. There was too much width without enough length. Love the look of these shoes but just didn't fit my foot correctly. Also, they don't have much cushioning and I was able to find another pair from a different brand that were just as lightweight as these but much more comfortable.

I wear a smaller size than most and had heck of a time getting my size. I settled with the light gray option, but was hoping for blue that was not in my size. My medial malleoli gets pressure from the tongue but if I untuck it a bit, its fine. The farthest hike so far was 4 miles and seemed fine. I wish there were more color options in smaller womens sizes. The light color shoes dirt too easily. Overall theyll do the trick.

I wore Salomons previous versions which were X Ultra 2 and 3 Mid. These are nothing like previous versions. Anke "support" is right where the ankle bone is, digging into the bone and making them wobbly. The top of the shoe bends uncomfortably when walking, right where the toes attach to the foot, making them uncomfortable. Bought at REI online, back to the store they went the same day of arrival.

I bought them a few weeks ago and retuned them. They don't hold an ankle tight enough. They are less than mid. The high gortex are too high for me but there are done as in the past, very stable. And I am looking for stable, mid hight hiking boots. What is you next model?

I went with these shoes because I dont love clunky hiking boots and the snow doesnt get too deep here, so I figured Id give them a try. So far, they keep my feet dry and warm in 30-degree or higher weather and 2-3 of snow/slush/mud. Im usually an 8.5W but the 8 actually fit really well.

I bought this pair like 1,5 ago, I didn't wear them straight away, I have saved them for more difficult terrain. Colour it was a big mistake I had the very light cream, there should not be such walking boots just get dirty too fast. So comfortable, can wear straight out the box. Shoe laces should be flat as this round one just keep being undone. Waterproof just for a little while and now I have notice a small split at the 'crease' point.

Like the shoes, they fit perfectly and look good. You slhould however make the inside useing stronger fabric - after less than one year occasional use the inside fabric was broken.

I bought these just under a year ago and I loved them straight out of the box - I've worn Salomons for years and these were the best fitting pair yet and needed no break in time! With every pair of Salomons though, I always have the toe crease split and ruin the waterproofing, and this pair also had the tread wear down so quickly, I now also have a hole in the bottom of the shoe, also ruining the waterproofing. I'm super sad that this pair didn't even last a year when other pairs have lasted much longer - I am hard on my gear as I hike 25-50km per week - and for the higher price tag I had higher hopes as well.

This is my second pair. I must say these are not as comfortable. My first pair were so much softer. No break in time. The insert is the same but the foot bed is not as deep and cushioned. I would not buy again. For me, they are very expensive, so I expected them to be the same as the pair I bought 5 or so years ago.

I've been a huge fan of Salomon's different kinds of hiking shoes for over a decade- and never before been as confused as I'm now. I find Ultra 4 Mid Gtx an overall fine Salomon- shoe but after three different kind of hikes I'm troubled if the quality of the shoes is just bad or if only my shoes lack it- After first trip on the mountains I noticed the seam between the boot and the outsole had come undone a little. I noticed a little cold " breeze" because of this when stepping in to water or mud. But my feet were dry so they were waterproof. I thought, well, this ain't such a big deal and I put some rubber boot glue to the hole to fix this. And it did. But then, when I went hiking in dew-drenched forest the GTX totally failed to keep its promise and I got all wet. Not because of the little break in the seam that I had glued but both of the shoes got soaking wet. And I was in dry forest, just dewy! Am still- after three days of drying the shoes in room temperature, waiting for them to dry. Don't know what to think- I want to love these shoes, and will use them but don't trust them anymore to keep my feet dry. The other thing is the lacing, or the laces because they loosen up after a while walking and this really is a big no no. No knots help to keep them tight. Maybe too bulky? But these are very comfortable. After 20 km walking off-trail on the mountains my feet were just fine and did not complain at all. So, I'm confused because the shoe is comfy but the seam came undone after the first hike and the waterproof doesn't concern dew. I know dew is a hard one for GTX but I honestly did not wait to get soaking wet feet after 10 minutes.
