The fit was good but the comfort on the trail awful. Not sure what happened to Saloman as this was my go to hiking company. The Ultra 4 fell short, even a 5 mile hike hurts, no arch support and no cushion. Very disappointed.

I really wanted to like this shoe but could not. I have a normal width foot. These shoes left red marks on the top of side and put pressure on the inside portion of my foot after just a couple hours of wearing them. It didn't matter how loose or tight they were. I ended up returning these shoes.

These were my favorite (by far) hiking shoes for years. Unfortunately, Salomon changed from Vibram soles and the new soles are horrible. They break down after only 2 - 3 months with a soft spot. I seriously feel every rock. The grip also breaks down after a couple of months. Hiking shoes are truly all about the sole, another brand that offer Vibram.

I've always been a Salomon fan but I can NOT recommend these shoes. I've had them for less than a month and they destroyed my feet. The heels worn through after hiking in them maybe 30 miles? Quicklaces popped almost immediately. Quality is not there for these shoes. Already started my return.

After the most wonderful Salomon shoe, the Ultra X, I expected a great shoe. But the tongue moves all over the place. There's a strip of very tight, inflexible fabric inside that squeezes my foot. The last shoe needed no breaking in. Two days in these shoes and my feet are killing me. I will not take these to the Dolomites! I will return them asap. A very big disappointment. Salomon, what were you thinking????

I love Salomon shoes but first time out in the rain I had wet feet. They leak badly through the top. Hopefully can get a refund bad I live in the PNW and waterproof shoes are a must!

I bought these shoes in early August 2022 to hike the Superior Hiking Trail. After 30 miles, the tread showed considerable wear and by mile 200, the heel had worn through and I needed different shoes to finish. Upper mesh also wore through. I have many pairs of Salomon shoes and love the fit, but was so disappointed in the quality of this model.

I have two pairs of the boot version of X Ultra 4. The shoes at first wear seem like a perfect version of the boot, until you a) lace them up, b) walk any distanc. Details a) The quick lace system is genius except on this shoe. The little pouch to tuck the end of the quick lace is in the middle of the tongue, cinched tight under the lacing system. You can't get to it. Total design flaw. It's as if they didn't even try to make it work. b) the tongue on the shoe shifts as you walk. I thought it was just me, my foot. Nope. Review after review state the same darn problem. And I must mention the colors are horrible this year. The black and grey would be nice if it wasn't for this after thought of nude on the sole and back loop. It doesn't make any sense. The boots version is just as bad. Worse part, just like everyone else. I'm stuck with a pair of shoes that suck and are total garbage after one wear.

Please read other reviews this model will bruise your ankles. And they no longer stand behind their warranty after a week of back-and-forth they denied a warranty because they claimed this is a comfort issue not manufactured defect. The ankle area is square shaped instead of contoured to the ankle like all the other shoes made.

I had to return mine because sizing was way off. Since I'm a size 5, I couldn't go a size down. This was unexpected since I have the Ultra 3 boots and they are true to size.

I tried these shoes on in the store and they felt fine. Once i wore them for an entire day my feet were killing me. My right arch still hurt 4 days later along with my left heel. I had so many people tell me how great the Ultra 3's were and was looking forward to getting these and had to return them since they hurt so bad
