I discovered Salamon light hikers a few years ago. I absolutely loved my XUltra 3 Gortex shoes. Now that the uppers are literally falling apart, I tried to re-order them. The same sad story we often get. . .it was replaced by the XUltra4. The insole of the shoe is not as sturdy or supportive as that of the 3, and the quick laces don't work as well. . .they loosen up, and are hard to get into their pocket. I made the mistake of trying to make them work by trying a variety of orthotics and insoles, and my foot still slips around in the shoe when I'm hiking. Not safe or comfortable. And can we get some lovely neutral colors? I don't want my feet to stand out when I'm hiking. I sent an email to Salomon, and requested a return (which I expected to be denied since I have worn them), and have had no response. So. This review is my Hail Mary. I hope they live up to their reputation.

First pair of Salomons and they didnt disappoint at all So happy I purchased them So comfortable even when running on the trail Helps a lot with the small rocks on the inclines

I bought it especially for my trip to Iceland and it was amazing. Super comfortable, I didn't slip at all. I was really worried about it.

I bought these shoes for an upcoming trip to Alaska. The are rugged but comfortable and I like the fact they are waterproof. The only thing I don't like is the depth of the soles at the front of the shoe is thinner.

Loved the fit for my wife. They fit her narrow foot perfectly. Would just like some more color options

I bought these hiking shoes for hiking in Aspen, and was very impressed with its performance. My toes need a lot of wiggle room and my feet are on the wide side with low arches. These shoes were a very comfortable fit. The trails were full of jagged rocks but the shoes kept my feet protected and supported. I did not get blisters or felt fatigue in my feet during the very inclined hike. I would definitely buy them again!

These hiking boots are super comfy but the tongue doesn't stay in place. Maybe there's a way to keep it place.

This is my fifth or six pair of these shoes. I have tried different brands and different models of Solomon and I always come back to these. They are so comfortable from the get-go they are super supportive and have excellent traction.

I bought these for my wife and she loves them. True to size, super comfy, and good price.

I saw an ad for a shoe that was great for seniors. I love them! They have great traction and stability. There was no break in period. Comfortable with cushioned heel. Was hesitant about the lacing, but super easy and holds tight in position. I bought them for a much anticipated trip to Bhutan/Nepal in February. Will send pictures!

Lot of room left when trying my normal size. Otherwise very comfy and cute!

So happy with these shoes. They needed no breaking in. Was able to walk a few miles first time wearing them.

I have been wearing these a bit over a month. They are really comfortable. I don't have nerve pain in the ball of my foot wearing these like I do with other shoes. I have a water proof pair of Salomon shoes that are too hot for warm weather so I got these and they are not too hot. The thin wiry cable for shoe strings isn't my favorite. It tightens all over my foot rather than just where I want it like with regular shoe strings. But it is quick to tighten the clasp and go. The cable should lace through the tongue of the shoe and it doesn't, and the tongue does slide off to the side which isn't that comfortable and has to be readjusted. I would recommend these shoes.

Very comfortable. Would give it 5 stars except for the fact that the tongue slips to the side!! Wont stay straight. Super annoying. Talked to customer service and they repeatedly refused to help with the poor product design.

Ive always been a Salomon fan but I can NOT recommend these shoes. Ive had them for less than a month and they destroyed my feet. The heels worn through after hiking in them maybe 30 miles? Quicklaces popped almost immediately. Quality is not there for these shoes. Already started my return.

I work on a golf course and get many miles in these shoes, they are comfortable but dont last through the season. I usually get a blow out in the mesh on left pinky toe. They used to last longer. Only complaint. Would be nice to have more color options.

bought these last month have gone on a few hikes. there was minimal pain while breaking them in and as long as you watch for hot spots you will be good! If you are wanting a shoe with ankle support these are not the shoe for you, I did roll my ankle because I am used to boots lol

I have had a lot of foot & back problems (sciatica, plantar fasciitis, etc) These are the most comfortable shoes Ive ever worn. I absolutely love them!
