I am extremely happy with the ultra 4's!! They are very roomy in the toe box and very comfortable for long distances. My first hike with them was through snow, ice, and mud. The traction was amazing even without crampons and there was zero discomfort after 3 miles with zero break in time. the mud really does just wipe right off. I was nervous about the pink color but I really do love it.

It is so comfortable you do not feel it. You can walk long distances, run, and stand for long periods and still be very comfortable. The support structure is excellent. Waterproof is perfect. No loose shoe laces. Absolute perfection. Colors are also excellent.

I really love the tread on these boots, the traction is phenomenal. They're very light weight and didn't even need much of a breaking in before my first hike in them. Living in the PNW I also appreciate the fact that they're Goretex, even in the summer the trails can get pretty wet and muddy.

I love the X Ultra 4 for everyday hikes and walks. They're lightweight and have great traction which are two must have features for any great hiking shoe. They fit true to size and are comfortable for all day wear

These shoes are my new go-to exploring shoe. They have great support and traction but have such a light feel that makes them perfect for day hikes. I've taken them on technical hikes and found they provided more than enough traction and support AND no blisters on hike #1. WOOT WOOT.
SIZING: These have a lot more room compared to their running shoes which to me is great for a hiker. But good to know they fit bigger!

I got these shoes a little over a month ago and oh boy! Are they loved! I am in love with the grip and stability that provides. I have been always hesitant to leave aside my hiking boots but these feel like a pair of boots, they give me ancle support, stability, grip and they are so light!

Quick look: grippy, waterproof, and roomy!
My experience with Salomon shoes is in SpeedCross and CrossHikes so here's a comparison review:
Compared to both, the X Ultra 4 GTX has a roomy toe box, which makes gnarly downhills a breeze for your tootsies.
The sole of this shoe is wider than the SpeedCross5's, which makes this feel more stable and grounded.
When I got my CrossHikes and when I got the X Ultra, both had a bit of a break in period in that the liner of the GTX shoes is a bit slippery and requires a few hikes to wear in so your sock isn't sliding around in your shoe.
Overall, I love these shoes for hikes where I know there is a water crossing, and up to 8-10 miles. For longer hikes, I want the lightest shoe I have, which is the SpeedCross.

So light weight and comfortable! Literally no break in time, they fit perfectly out of the box. My favorite shoe from dog waking, to hiking. Great grip! Waterproof and easy to clean! They fit true to size!

The X Ultra 4 GTX is hands-down one of the most comfy pair of trail shoes I've ever worn. There was virtually no break-in period and they're lightweight, making it so easy to navigate all types of terrain. It's flexible so easy to store in the van. I also appreciate the super grippy bottom for technical hikes when you need that extra grip. I use these for both trail running and hiking.

I LOVE these shoes. I ordered them right away and they fit like they were custom made for me. I went to order another pair, and they are already sold out of my size in the darker color that I want.
PLEASE order more of these, LLBean!!! Pleeeeeeeease!!!!!

I have never had hiking shoes or boots. Was looking for something to walk on local trails in ice and wanted to keep my feet warm and dry. I bought these online without trying on after much research and searching several other sites. They fit me perfect right out of the box. Put them on and have worn them several times now with no pain, blisters, or adjusting! I bought the same size as my running and walking shoes (different brands) and they fit perfect. My feet are not particularly wide or narrow-just average and these fit great-like a glove. The first time I walked 4 miles and the second time 7 miles and they were extremely comfortable. I did purchase these because of the goretex and so far seems to be good choice! They are extremely light weight but seem sturdy. I highly recomend them.

I'll start by saying that I am a big fan of Salomon Speedcross running shoes and have gone through dozens of them over the past few years. (I run a LOT:-) I particularly like the Gore-Tex version. Not only does the Gore-Tex keep my feet dry in wet weather, they also seem to last longer than the other shoes. When I saw these new hikers, I hesitated at first but ultimately decided to give them a try. Straight out of the box they were super comfortable. They feel like running shoes to me, but come up a tiny bit higher under the ankle bone. I love them so much that I am ordering a second pair in case LLBean stops carrying them. Fantastic shoes!
In case this helps anyone else, I have extremely high arches and extremely high insteps. I still need to add an arch support, but there's plenty of room to do so, and the instep area is cushy and comfortable. No pinching or discomfort!

I couldn't be happier. I was instantly blown away about how lightweight they were, but how they still felt super stable. They are a dream hiking shoe! Muddy, icy, rocky Pennsylvanian terrain didn't phase them. Their grip and traction held up perfectly on every trail I put them on. Highly recommend!!!

True-to-size, lightweight, and required no break-in period, whatsoever. From desert floor to alpine summits, this shoe offers amazing support but is still very flexible and comfortable. Downhill traction is unsurpassed. I also love the Quicklace system, so convenient!

Had these for a few weeks now. I've had ankle issues for years so I've always needed boots with ankle support. These are the first pair of low cut shoes that I've been able to hike in with no issues at all! A must get!!

Absolutely love these shoes for hiking and backpacking. They are comfortable like a trail runner, but the stiff sole and toe box make them a great shoe for technical trails and backpacking.

I've taken these on the trails nearby my house in Richmond, VA which includes plenty of wet rocks and stream crossings. The traction has held fantastic on the slippery rocks and the webbing has kept my foot secure. I particularly love the wider toe box that gives my toes more space to spread out and balance laterally. I prefer low ankle support and this has just the right height for my liking. Strongly recommend these.

A nice shoe. Very grippy bottoms, sturdy, good styling. and a great price. I'm returning them as one shoe rubs my high arch. It's not the shoes, it's me.
I loved my previous Salomons and they lasted for years.

Excellent fit and style but tongue on the right shoe kept slipping inside the shoe. I returned and they didn’t have my size anymore.

I love this shoe for the tread and the gortex. It's the little details like a place to tuck the pull string once tighten I love. Keep up the great work.

They were too large but Zappos doesn't carry 6.5 which is what I wanted. (Salomon makes a 6.5, but Zappos does not offer.).
