The fit and finish are what one expects from The North Face. I would like a back pocket or side zip pocket for phone/wallet.

True to waist size. Good 7" inseam length. Great pockets! A little baggy.

I use these shorts for hiking and boating. Very good short. I have the belted which is nice for holding them up when you have your cellphone in your pocket and going long distances.

Pants are just what I expected good material and construction , buckles on belts do not hold as in previous shorts I had purchased a couple of years ago.

The only reason I bought these is the belted class v shorts used to have a brief (last year). Now they are just another pair of shorts. I won't be buying them again.

I purchased 2 pairs of these shorts for my husband as Father's Day gifts. This was a first time trying these shorts and he is long waisted with shorter, more muscular legs and thighs. So tried the regular length in the green and then short length in the grey. Both pairs are roomy enough for larger thighs. Unfortunately, the short length is way too short. They looked more like sprinter's running shorts to me and I have a hard time seeing any man actually being comfortable wearing that short a length out in public?? The regular length of the green would've been perfect had it not been for the *huge* patches adorning the pockets on both sides of the short?! I didn't even notice them in the pictures when shopping these on TNF app. In person, however, they're very obvious and take away from the style and look of the short. They look silly. It feels like over branding which is a shame bc otherwise, I would've kept these bc the color is great. But I know my husband would never go for shorts with these big colorful Girl Scout looking patches on the pockets. So they're going back.

there is no fly, which may be OK. built in belt, both good and bad. I think it is a fancy bathing suit.

I agree with other posters about their disappointment over this product. I have bought North Face Class V Belted Shorts for years and never has the product been this bad. First there is no shelf liner, the whole reason I buy this product. Second the fabric is cheap and heavy, hardly the lighter, airier fabric the company once used. Third it appears North Face has reverted to the short shorts edict of 1970. I never thought I would say this but it is no clear to me that the similar product Columbia produces is superior to the North Face short.

They sit in a draw. Without a mesh liner they are useless to me.

These are a huge disappointment... First, there is no "mesh brief liner" as mentioned in the 'Features'...the pockets are mesh, but if you're expecting them to have a swim trunk type liner, nope. Second, Mineral Grey is straight up taupe, there's zero grey in that color, no matter what light source I put them under, they were brown. Lastly, the fit...I've got some meat on me, so I figured they wouldn't look as skort-ish on me as they do in some of the pictures, but I was wrong...may be the micro cargo pockets on them that give that shape, but I wasn't expecting to look like Dr. Ellie Sattler when I put them on (and I love her). Returned them...
