I have ran a few solid trail miles in these definitely prefer these over my Brooks Calderas. I ran the first half of my mountainous 50 in the Brooks and was so grateful I could switch to the Altra Timp 3 half way...felt much better and helped me avoid an oncoming blister on the inside of my arch.

I need more arch support and unfortunately these went back. otherwise comfortable. Run slightly large.

I was so disappointed with the narrow feel and necessity to size up with the timp 2. They've corrected this in the 3. Ran 9 miles right out of the box. Love the update

My feet are really wide. I was delighted to discover Altra Timp 2 and wore out two pairs. I tried 2.5 and they had a smaller toe box so I returned them. I had hoped Timp 3 would be like my 2’s, but they still aren’t as wide. I went to a local shoe store and learned that Altra Olympus 4 has a wider toe box, so I tried them and they are great. I’ve just ordered a second pair from Zappos. I hope Altra doesn’t change them any time soon.
I'd also recommend:
Cobb Hill are my go to shoes as their sizes are available in wide.

Although the fit was OK nothing else was. There is plenty of total room and plenty of cushioning those were the positives. The negatives are the rubber toe front causes the sneaker to press on your big toe. Not terrific for a lot of walking or exercising. The tongue of the sneaker hit the bottom of my shin that’s how large it is. So after walking around my house for five minutes I was just about to get a blister Or two so sadly they are going back.
I'd also recommend:

I was so looking forward to getting my new ultras and sadly they have to go back. The fit was as expected however with the rubber toe and an inner tongue that actually hit the front of my shin they were unbearable after wearing them for five minutes. As always there was plenty of tow room and cushioning was wonderful but just the overall style made the sneaker very comfortable.

I love the dark gray and pink color scheme, the natural foot shape, and cushion for rocky AZ trails, but the shoe is way too tight across the forefoot (I don't wear a wide shoe), but at the same time it's too wide at the heel and my heel slips even with it laced all the way back. I really wanted these to work but need to send them back.

I LOVE ALTRA's!!! Haven't Soren any other shoe for 1.5 years! These are very narrow on the top of foot- with laces & tongue of shoe. They are super comfortable & supportive but not a lot of room on top! Not sure if ordering up a size would help or not!?! If you have narrow feet would be perfect shoe!

I have one foot that over pronates and these shoes made it worse. I am sorry to have to return them because they feel very supportive outside that one issue.

Cushion feels great but the toe box is just too tight, especially around my bunion. The fabric pinches right on top of it too.

I wore them for a run and was really disappointed that the toe reinforcement area ended right at my baby toe and caused it to rub uncomfortably during my run. Threw out the box because I love love love my Torins and Escalantes and figured these would be the same :(

These shoes were nice! Good grip and the cushioning was supportive. The only thing was that it felt a tad bit small on the toe box. My second toe is a bit longer than my big toe that it would cramp my toes in. I also sized up half a size. I started to think it was their signature design of the shoe, but looking closer into more of the reviews, it might just be this shoe. I'm going to try out another pair before I try another brand.

As with Escalante, Altras are super wide. So wide that I have to lace them until the side panels overlap on the tongue. I like the cushioning, weight, and grip a lot, and several runner friends with wide feet really like these Timps. Just wish that the width wasn't always so excessive for my very average foot.

I trail run and backpack in these shoes. I bought them in June and have 160 miles in them. I bought these shoes because I was having pain in my left foot at the widest point. When I bought these, I found them painful to wear because the plastic outer piece kept them from stretching the way that the Escalantes can stretch. Because of my foot pain (and having been reading that people should size up in running shoes) I bought an 8.5 after years of using 8s generally. I find them gigantic. I thought I would get used to it, but no. I have a terrible time getting foot placements that I trust. I trip a lot (in them and normally...). The tread wasn't amazing to begin with and, I find the tread is wearing out already. I hope for running shoes to last at least 300 miles and typically find that trail shoes last even longer, but I'm already thinking about replacing these because I'm slipping around trying to run in them. The light blue color and fabric also just holds on to and shoes all of the dirt.

These are not your classic neutral Altras. This shoe causes overpronation. Look at the shoe on a flat shelf without a foot in it - tilts and drops to the inside. Meaning, the runners knee while wearing this shoe (due to the overpronation) is placed in valgus the entire time. For women, this valgus position is perfect conditions for ACL and meniscus injuries. If you love your knees - seriously reconsider this shoe and look at other Altras.

I replaced my previous version of Timps that I loved with these and had lots of issues. First, I have orthotics and usually wear an 8 for road shoes and 8.5 for trail in altras. I tried the 8.5 and was sliding around. I exchanged for the 8s and took them to the trail. Even with wearing injinji socks, I got blisters for the first time in years and one on my toe took a week to heal. What a painful nightmare. All of the versions that worked from Altra that worked for me (Torin Plush 4) have been altered dramatically and it makes me sad.

Shoe felt narrow and very uncomfortable, I wore these around the house for 30 minutes and could not wait to take them off. Miss the comfort and easy fit of Time 2.

The timp 3 causes pronation. I have custom orthotics from my orthopedic Dr and even with my orthotics the timp 3 is not comfortable to run long distance in, and they cause ankle soreness from the shoes turning in and causing pronation. I had a trail marathon to do and felt like I was getting a bad stress fracture in my left ankle every time I ran in the trmp 3. Two days before my marathon I went to fleet feet and they watched me run and said how bad the timp 3 turned in. I switched to a brooks pair and my ankle pain was instantly gone and I ran the trail marathon on the brooks with no pain at all during or after the race. These timps are awful and I would not recommend. A friend of mine ended up with severe hip issues from the timp 2 and 3 due to them causing pronation and she has worn timps for several years. Ugh!

I have a history of Morton's neuromas from wearing narrow shoes for years. I was so grateful to find Altra shoes years ago and have had every model of the Olympus. I thought I would I try something new but the TIMP 3 was just too tight across my metatarsals. So disappointed so will stick with the Olympus for now!

Felt fine while walking in a flat trail, but going uphill made my feet scream. I've NEVER had this much foot pain going uphill in any other shoe. Very disappointed. I also extended the laces to the top hole and it still doesn't feel like it closes enough around the ankle.

Okay I wanted to love these because my boyfriend swears by them. So I gave them a try and we went on 1 hike and ran down the mountain. This was only a 6 mile out and back and I couldn't believe how much the seems were coming apart like in multiple spots in the shoe. My boyfriends looked perfect still but mine are pretty much done for. The fit and feel I really liked but could only wear them once.... not good. Quality is not the best and I'm pretty bummed out about these
