Needed to do treadmill rehab to keep the pain down on a R hip that will need a total replacement in a few years. I found excellent side-to-side heel stability during indoor power walking with the TIMP 3 but needed to add more arch support and this required 0.5 size increase. I know there always seems to be reported of feature & fit changes between new versions, and I have difficult to fit feet, so I bought two more pair of these shoes to hold in reserve.

I walk a lot , wear them all day, my feet don't hurt anymore

I have been running ultras and trail for about 8 years, and wearing men's shoes. Sporting a women's size 12, it was so much easier to find men's shoes. This year I was having major foot issues and pain that just wouldn't resolve. My coach, also a DPT, suggested that maybe I should consider trying a women's shoe, and Altras would be a great place to start. To make a frustratingly painful season's story short..I love everything about my Altras. I have already worn them to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back up, and on numerous other trails of varying terrain and technicality. My feet don't hurt and I am able to navigate the trails with an effortless smile on my face. Thank-you Altra for making a women's shoe that recognizes that women are not small men. I never before realized how shoes can fit well and be comfortable.

I recently had knee surgery and the cushion in the Timp 3 is perfect to protect my knee and feel stable on the trail. I've always been a fan of the Superior, but these made me happy I tried them!

These are ABSOLUTELY the BEST trail shoes I have ever worn! The fit is amazing and they are SOOOOO comfortable. I even wore them for a road race... Definitely recommended!!!

I run Trails in my Altra Timp 3. I purchased them 8 days before my QSER 50k so I'd have fresh shoes for the course. It took a few easy runs to get a feel for them. Race day they were phenomenal from the Start to the Finish especially on the final3 downhill miles.

This is my third pair of Altra shoes and I love them! They fit well and have enough cushioning to make my feet feel great, even on the treadmill. I looked at different shoes on the Altra website and read all the reviews, and that helped me settle on the Timp 3. I'm glad I went with them.

I bought a pair of these after a particularly bad experience thru-hiking with heavy boots. Wore them for the first time today and not a single hot spot or blister. Love the wide toe box.

Altra impresses with the Timp 3. Much better for me to have the extra cushioning compared to the Lone Peak 5. Highly recommend and will by the Timp from now on.

I just won a free pair of Altras at my last ultra. Having given up on the Lone Peaks after they went to a thinner rock plate, I decided to give the Timps a try. They are beyond fantastic. I don't think I've found a better fit in a shoe - I have a high volume foot and a bizarre anterior tibialis tendon issue that's exacerbated by lacing my shoes. I'm not sure if it's the lacing system, or the glove like fit of the Timp, but they are super secure and have yet to feel my foot slide around in them - even laced loosely. I've now tried them on everything from dirt roads to super technical trail. Only complaint is that they skid off rocks when wet, so you just need to pay attention to that. I'd also like to see some of the color options the new Lone Peaks have - but that's just a suggestion. Highly recommend. Really excited to find a new go-to shoe.

These are great. I fast walk 8-10 miles a day . I rotate between the Torin , Timp 3, and Lone Peaks. No more bruised toes ! I always buy half size bigger in running shoes. With these I also wear thicker hiking socks rather than thin. I also feel great in them when I run because my toes are spread out .

Great design with a very comfortable toe box. I have 4 Altra shoes. Use them interchangeably for regular 5 mile runs on cross country trails.

Ultra runs and related training

I use these shoes for walking on sidewalks and dirt trails. I also have a pair of Olympus 3, Lone Peak 5 (wide)and 2 pair of Torin 2.5. I love the Lone Peak, but, surprisingly, don't especially need the extra width, and do need extra cushioning, so the Timp 5 meets my needs better than the Lone Peak. Plenty of room in the toe box, and the extra cushioning helps on rocky surfaces and does not detract from the stability of the shoe.

I am not a runner - just someone who owns a boarding kennel and am on my feet all day. My toes were getting crunched in my sneakers and I started forming calluses between my toes I bought these on my husbands recommendation - I can wear either thin or medium weight socks here in the TX heat and the shoes stay in place on my foot. I love the wide toe box and can wiggle my toes in them yet the sneaker does not slip or feel sloppy on my foot

My husband likes Altra and has several pairs. I wore Brooks but did not like the last pair I bought. It felt too tight. I wanted to run more on top of doing crossfit. We own a crossfit box in AZ. and very active. Fast forward- Hiked Bright Angel trail - Rim to Colorado River in 1 day - 17miles 11hours AZ heat this past weekend with my now favorite shoes of all time ! The Timp 3. My feet did not hurt at all. They felt cushioned the whole time. The toes box area was just right and not too open or narrow. Shoes held up great, nothing coming apart after what I put it through. I had bought this 3 months ago. I started running more 6-8miles a week leading up to the Grand Canyon hike this past weekend. I cannot stress enough the importance of having a good pair of trail shoes while doing any kind of difficult hike. I definitely recommend this shoes. Told my friend and had her try the Timp 3 and she bought one. She has the blue pair. I like my color grey. I just washed it and looks like a new pair again. Doing spartan this weekend and will be wearing my Timp 3. My feet are happy. Go try on a pair yourself !

I love these shoes, they fit my wide feet great and are super comfortable to run in. I spend most of my time running trails and they have the right support and traction for that.

Put these on for the first time thinking I'd better limit myself to a 5 mile hike. Should not have worried....excellent fit, toe box is perfect, heel tight, lacing options great, love the feel!
