Very comfortable hiking shoe. No break in period required. If you need ample room in the toe box, this shoe is for you.

I'm so disappointed that they were not wide enough. Was hoping these would work for some upcoming hikes I had planned but ended up wearing my lone peaks, which worked fine. Would love to see wide widths offered in all styles.

I got these before the winter snowy season so I could walk my dog when it was snowy and on the muddy trails at my local park, and they are great for that. I committed to a 12 mile challenging hike with friends yesterday and these proved to be really great for getting me through a hike that neared 17 miles (!) , about 11 miles farther than I have ever hiked! The wide toe box allowed my toes to spread out as I walked as needed, and the ankle support was great for the uneven, rocky, rooty terrain. I did get a slight hot spot on my left arch about 1/2 way through, but a tape wrap on my foot took care of that and I had no other problems related to my shoes!

This is my third pair of Altra Lone Peak Hikers. I like the more supportive feel of the boots and the slightly narrower fit. I always use gaiters and it's disappointing that Altra did away with the hook and trap for gaiters. Please bring them back!

I love the way these shoes fit, but THESE ARE NOT BLACK. They are blue. If I known that before I bought them, I would have gotten a different colour.

I don't want to say this feels too wide, because i was able to use it, but i need to really cinch them close together to feel secure. They are, of course, wide at the pinky toes side, but that is the design.

I love this shoe!!!! It's so comfortable and seems to be holding up well. I have 2 pairs of altas (I also bought pair for husband). I feel this brand is spot on with comfort and durability! I will need to do some longer and more difficult treks in them but so far so good!

These shoes are life changing. This is the 1st time in my life I finished a couple 3+ mile hikes and didn't return to my car with throbbing feet. 4/5 stars bc not waterproof. Make more styles please!

My feet are on the wide side and having that natural toebox means that they can spread out and push off and prevents cracking pain that sometimes happens over long distances. It also means that you can accommodate orthopedic inserts. So 5+ comfort. Out of the box. And I find I can't go back to other shoes. So much so that I am now on my fifth pair. I also selected the Altra for the treads which help prevent slippage in mud and rock surfaces, but they are not very durable or very deep. I hope they use materials in the future that prevent the treads from wearing down within 6 months. I also would prefer a longer tongue to keep dirt and leaves out of my shoe and perhaps a little more support in the mid foot. And really, I haven't been a great fan of some of the patterns, baby blue or tan on a trail is just doomed to fail.

If you already know how Altra fit you, specifically, you're likely to agree that these are true-to-size. I bought these in June 2021 and have already given them probably 100 miles. This includes a 13er and two 14ers in some of the rockiest and steepest terrain in the Rockies. The only reason I didn't give four stars is because I wish the outer toe had reinforcing material. The toe on my left shoe is already punctured a little due to scrambling. I gently clean/rinse the shoe material after it gets muddy and dries and (I believe) this helps to keep them in good shape. Amazing comfort all day and amazing stability, especially on steep descent.

First time purchasing from you and I like both pairs. One for running and one for walking/weight training. I hope they continue to fit well as they wear. Thank you for offering a shoe to fit a ladies foot.

It feels like these shoes were made with exactly my type of feet in mind, and I am stoked I took a chance at purchasing them. I put in a LOT of miles working in the Mojave Desert, and so far these are the comfiest pair to do the job in. The only thing that worries me somewhat is that the material does not seem as sturdy for more rugged terrain, but only time will tell really.

I needed a pair of light weight hiking boots that would dry over night. These are great. I have 3 other types of Altra shoes, and these are definitely the widest and probably a little longer. I have narrow feet and need heavier socks with them, but I tend to wear heavier socks when I hike anyway, so it's no problem. They give more, are less stiff than most hiking boots. I hike in the Smokies a lot, and the terrain can be rough with loose rock. I can feel the trail with these. The 0 drop and wide toe box are much more comfortable than other trail shoes and hiking boots I have worn.

I went on a hike wearing these boots yesterday. They were supportive, and light weight. I didn't feel the sharp rocks under my feet.

The boots were more of a dark gray than a black. I was hoping the material would have been more durable and less padding. All and all not a bad boot, but a little over priced.

Very flimsy and lightweight. Hard to put on with no support at the back of the heal. Felt good in the beginning but needs more cushion. I would not recommend for people with arthritic feet b/c it doesn't have enough cushion. They won't last long with all the hiking in Colorado that I do.

Have worn the Lone Peak mid top mesh 4.0 & 4.5 for 4 years, Broke my ankle 4 years ago & needed a dependable high top hiker. I loved all 4 pairs i owned. Even use them for everyday walking around my pond. Was disappointed to find out that this shoe has replaced my shoe. The old Lone Peak fit like a glove & was very lightweight, which i loved. And whose idea was it to discontinue the black. i get dirty when i hike & the black was great for that. Whoever made the new designs is not an avid hiker in my opinion. probably trying another brand.

I bought a pair of these in September of this year and the boots are extremely comfortable and everything you would expect from Altra. The bad news is the plastic part of the shoelace (the aglet), came off last week and Altra customer support said they don't have just laces and can't tell me where I can get replacement Altra laces for my boots. So it looks like I have to make a trip to my local hiking store for generic boot laces and even though they cost under $5.00, I'm a little shocked that Altra didn't offer to replace them since they are less than 2 months old.

I really did months of research to buy the best hiking boot. I landed on this one and it feels very wide, like clown shoes. I don't know if I got a half size too big. You can't tighten the shoe by the toes so it feels floppy.

I got lone peaks first and loved them but needed more support so I got these. I wish they had gaitor traps like lone peaks. Also the toe fell apart after 400 rocky New England miles. Tougher toe material and gaitor traps would make these a guaranteed buy for my next shoe!

Extremely comfortable shoe-- good cushion and nice wide toe box. Unfortunately, the treads wore out after very little use. Please make with vibram treads. (Olympus 5 has bad reviews re ankle comfort)

I have purchased many pairs of Altra shoes. They are comfortable and well constructed. Not so with this new hiker. The material has ripped at the seam after the first few time I wore them. Less than a hundred miles of hiking. It appears to be a default in the construction of this shoe. This is not acceptable for an almost $200. shoe. A disappointed customer.

I had hoped this shoe would be the fix for foot pain. There is little structure to the shoe so it feels almost like not wearing a shoe at all. I purchased these shoes to address Morton's neuroma. While the width of the toe box and cushion feels good, I realize I need more lateral and heel support than this shoe provides.
