These shoes are so comfortable and felt great right out of the box...no breaking in period needed. The wide toe box helps avoid pain in the toe that was once broken.

I like the new "wide" width. Color selection in this width was limited to only one color, which I don't like all that much. The shoes fit. This is my fourth pair of Altra's, and the most comfortable yet. I like the medium stack height and cushioning on Lone Peak (better than the Olympus), because it makes me feel more grounded, and helps with balance. The toe box is the reason I buy Altra's, and it is just right in this model, plenty of room.

I got a wide and it's just a tiny bit roomier than it needs to be but still fits. Great traction and water resistance. I walk with them rather than run so I can't speak to the running performance, but I like them for walking.

This is my 3rd pair of Altras; they were comfortable from Day One, no break in time needed. These shoes accommodate my bunions easily in the wide toe box and are my go-to shoes for walking or anytime I will be on my feet for long periods of time. I highly recommend them!

I have had Altra sneakers in the past, loved them and needed to replace my worn out pair. These are perfect and I am so glad they are actually wide enough in the toe without being like boats in the heel! For people like me with "duck feet" they are wonderful. I have high arches so these don't have quite enough support for them, but so far that has not been a problem.

These trail runners are fantastic. I've been in Merrell's barefoot runners for a couple years and after I tore my meniscus.. I needed something softer. I ordered these and a $170 pair of Hokas. I wore the Hokas once.. then my lone peaks came and I promptly sent the Hokas back. These shoes are awesome. I've already taken them out in the California mountains and in the ice and snow of Telluride, Colorado. Outstanding performance. My knee even feels better. Great great shoe.

My wide feet are so very comfortable in these shoes! To be fair, they've felt okay in previous iterations of the Lone Peak as well, but these are so much better! I have worn these daily for the last few weeks for my morning walk and have no complaints. Thank you Altra for finally making this available in a wide width.

I love these shoes! I’m using them for moderate difficulty trail hiking and they are much lighter and more comfortable then hiking boots. My feet feel free, not confined but still protected. Comfortable right out of the box, I can go for miles and miles and no blisters or foot pain at all! A miracle!! Especially since I have a bunion. The wide toe area is great, great traction, cushion and I like the 0 drop.

I have worn this shoe while hiking, walking and working. (I am a Licensed Massage Therapist) They are phenomenal! the wide toe box is most helpful for balance while hiking. My husband has had 4 pair of Altras and loves them.

Bought for my bestie before she tackles PCT. She has worn them on a few short day hikes and another day in the snow. She is very happy " feels like I can hike all day" also reports they dried within 2 hrs after being in snow

I've been on a quest to find a lightweight, breathable hiking shoe and finally got it. I need wide shoes, but I don't have big feet. I wear a 38 Birkenstock sandal and the shoes I finally got that fit are a women's 8.5 wide. I tried the Lone Peak 4.5 in men's sizes and just couldn't get the fit. The instep was too tight even though the toe box was wide enough. After several send-backs, the Lone Peak 5.0s were released and I was able to try a women's wide. Perfect! They fixed the instep problem, too. I did find that the 7.5 men's regular width (again in the Lone Peak 5.0) fits nearly the same as the women's 8.5 wide. I was tempted to try the 8 wide, but I'll stick with the 8.5 given my feet will swell on longer hikes and when the weather is warmer. The zero drop wasn't too hard to get used to. The first hike was a little rough on my left ankle, but I gave it a break for a day and the second hike was no problem. Thanks so much for Zappos to allow free shipping and returns to get to the right fit!!

This shoe is awesome- I have Morton's Neuromas and the wide toe box is a lifesaver for me. The only reason this show has 4 stars instead of 5 for me is that it could use a little more cushion/ padding.

I wear btwn a 7.5 and 8. Typically I get 8 or 8.5 in most running shoes. These felt way to big. the toe box was way to wide for me. I get the idea, but for me, it was like an inch of space to the side that I just dont need. Im trying the paradigm 5 as they have a slightly more narrow toe box. comfy sole for sure.

The only negative is the shoelaces are coming out of the tips after only a couple of weeks of wear.

This is my second pair and love the feel and fit. Great support. I hike and walk a lot of miles and they just wear out too fast!!! Wear through on the top and sides and loses the cushion feeling and then my low back hurts so I have to order a new pair.

I loved the 3.5 version, liked the 4.0 (a little too wide but manageable) but had trouble with the 4.5 version of this shoe. It rubbed my achilles and gave my tendonitis. The back of the 4.5's seems to slope inward and I thought that was what was causing my troubles. I quit wearing them and it eventually healed up. When the 5.0's came out I was excited to give them a try. The back didn't look quite as sloped. However, after only about a mile I was in pain. My achilles swelled up and was raw and red. I really hope this is remedied in the next version. I like everything else about this shoe.

I got these in March, so I probably didn't start wearing them till the good weather started. I like them, but they are falling apart at the heal on both shoes. Do I have to contact the company directly? I needed a wider shoe for bunion and these worked out perfectly. But at this rate, they are not going to last long. Disappointing for the price of the shoe. I walk about 5-6 miles a day. I am 5'6 and about 150, so overstress on the shoe. What should I do?

I've been wearing Altra Lone Peaks for a few years now. I swear by them. They have solved my foot probz. But these REALLY disappointed me in moist conditions. They had ZERO grip on a rock scramble I've done a dozen times in other Lone Peak incarnations. I actually had to take one off to get some traction. I'm very disappointed. Dare I suggest teaming up with Vibram for the outsole? My hiking partner had no issues in his Merrils.

Even though other customers had thought that this shoe was "True to Size" for some reason Zappos didn't agree and suggested I order a half size larger. So now they are too big. I should have trusted the other customers' reviews. Darn!!

I have a few pairs of Altra Superiors, and I love them. I sometimes wish I had a little more traction and a little more protection for the bottom of my foot. Thats how I ended up with Lone Peaks. My main issue is - Lone Peaks are the first sneakers I've ever owned that are so wide my foot slides around inside. Its surprising because I have wide feet and because the Superiors fit me so well. But my feet move around so much inside the Lone Peaks that I get blisters. Its not just this year's model. The 'regular' size Lone Peaks are significantly wider in the forefoot than the 'regular' size Superiors are. (At least this is true for the 6 / 6.5 / 7 size range ) And the Lone Peaks are a little bit shorter. So you might have to go up a half size from Superiors to Lone Peaks. The other issue is - I expected the Lone Peak would have better traction. They don't. They're surprisingly bad on large rocks or slanted pavement. They're fine on flat sidewalks, gravel, and dirt. But step on a foot-sized rock or boulder - or even step on a curb wrong - and the Lone Peak slides down and off. Its a real surprise the first few times it happens. Somehow I thought these would be grippier than the Superiors, but they're not.

This is my 4th pair of Lone Peaks. Obviously I like the fit and even though there's always a new version, it's been okay because the shoe is comfortable. This time I'm deliberating whether or not to return this pair of 5.0. The plum color I now received looks the same as the port wine I have from my last order. I was really disappointed when I saw the color. The fit of the new version is different my big toe almost touched the front of the shoe, the way the shoestrings are now unanchored in the middle feels less supportive of the foot arch. The toe bed on the regular size seems less wide now that regular and wide versions are offered. Why does Altra keep changing the shoe? I honestly loved my first pair most. I think it was the 3.5 and they also had a better cushion than the 4.0, 4.5, and 5.0. Another reviewer is right about the heel strike. Each new pair but the 3.5 has given me blisters on my heel at first until a small hole is worn into the shoe at the defective heel spot. The shoe also continues to rise in price as the quality decreases. I'm so disappointed.

Okay, this is probably my 15th?! Pair of lone peaks. These feel too wide, my feet slide on downhills. The heel cup has an awkward fit. They don't have the cushion the 3.5 lone peaks had, although the rock protection is good. I'm so disappointed. Each lone peak update I like less and less.

I have used Lone Peaks since 3.0. I have had no problem taking them straight out of the box and running 20 miles in them- until now. I purchased a pair of 4.5's (probably my 12th pair in total). Blisters on my heels from an hour of hiking! The heel is definitely more narrow now. I had a big adventure run planned and ended up cutting out the heel of my shoes just to finish. Totally ruined my day. :( I bought a pair of 5.0's hoping that the 4.5 was a glitch. Nope. Rubbing before I even walked out the door. Promptly returned them. PLEASE ALTRA- CHANGE THEM BACK! Did you change the men's heel, I wonder? Maybe I will try them. These shoes have been the magic touch at keeping Plantars Fascitis away, and now I have a shoe emergency! I have 100 mile race in less than 30 days, and I have no idea what I am going to do.
