Several years ago , I purchased 3 pairs over time of this shoe & the support wonderful in fact it actually cured my Mortons neuroma. They had wonderful support in the metatarsal pad but not this pair. The material is not as nice as the previous 3 pairs & I feel not made as well. I am so disappointed. There is some arch support that they kept. I walked several miles in these shoes & I am not happy w them @ all. I think the quality has diminished greatly. Will not b purchasing this style anymore. Very disappointed

Yes Altra! You finally got it right! I have been running for over 30 years and when I discovered Altra about 18 years ago I became a huge fan. However over the years the styles changed but not in a good way, so I have for probably last 5 years bought used Altras wherever I could find old models online. I always would retry newer models but was always disappointed. I run long distance trail, occasionally road, but mostly trail. So I'm so excited for the new alone Peak 5 as they feel like the earlier days when I first fell in love with Altra (still waiting for the One to return). I'm a 8.5 but always order up half size. I bought the regular women in size 9 and they fit great. Roomy toe box, width is comfortably wide especially since I'll be trying for another 50k. I didn't have to break them in at all and didn't have to debate much as to whether or not they fit. They are PERFECT! I just bought another back up pair!

In the Lone Peak 4 & 4.5, and the Torin Plush, the 7.5 fits my foot like a glove. The last 2 LPs had the perfect wide toe box and comfortable heal, although when running I always use the runner's knot to keep my toes from sliding forward (not an issue when walking). This version I found the 7.5 M to be way too long and a tiny bit too narrow. The 7 W so far seems to be the closest in fit to my old shoes but only time will tell.

It took me 4 tries to get it right. I'm a 7 1/2 in regular shoes, usually buy 8 in tennis shoes. I have a wide foot so I originally bought an 8 wide. But the shoe already has a good amount of space so I didn't need a wide. After several tries (8 wide, 8 regular, 7 1/2 regular) I ended up sticking with 7 regular and these feel amazing! I was almost ready to give up but so glad I didn't, would definitely recommend the shoe just would suggest to size down by 1/2 a size.

I ordered this needing a new trail walking shoe, but are using them instead as my everything shoe including as a house shoe. I am very picky about comfortable shoes and I order and return many, many shoes (sorry Zappo) so when I say this shoe is amazing I mean it! They are so comfortable. I trained the laces for a no tie lace .

I am beyond thankful for these shoes. As someone with a Morton's neuroma, my hikes, walks and runs would hit the 3-5 mile mark in "other high-end comfort/performance shoes" and the pain would go from a tinge to burning to let's just call it a day. With these shoes I have NO issue going 10+ miles almost entirely pain free. I am truly grateful for these shoes as they allow me to exercise outdoors on my terms and not be limited by foot pain. I went up a whole size and do use custom orthotics with metatarsal pads. I also have the Escalante's and while they also are amazingly comfortable, they are really road shoes and since I am usually on gravel or dirt, found myself on my tush a couple times going down hills. Got the Lone Peaks and problem solved. If you tend to be on trails and not streets/sidewalks, get a trail shoe for sure. Looking forward to trying some of the other styles and hiking boots in the futureAltra absolutely has another devotee!

I bought these looking for a better trail runner for long runs and a hiking shoe for overnight backcountry trips. As a trail runner: This shoe seems to fit the bill, but I prefer more cushion for longer runs. There is plenty of toe box room to accommodate my fairly wide forefoot in the regular size, wide not needed. The return is springy resulting in a pretty fast ride. Compared to my Torin 4's, which I do use on trails with some rockiness to them even though they are "road" shoes, they definitely aren't as comfortable overall. My torins seem to retain a bit of cushion for the entire run compared to the lone peaks. Width wise, they look very similar, however the lone peaks have a laminated portion that goes along the whole bottom of the shoe and the torins only have that until the point where the shoe bends. It is at this spot on the torins that I get a hot spot around mile 4 because the end of the lamination creates a tougher spot for the foot. I've battled this by taping my foot at that spot, but it's still a plus for the Lone peaks. The torins are also more fitted around the heel and midfoot, which is good for staying put during a run. As a hiker: I went to the Lone peaks from Merrell Moab hiking boots for the toe room. Hiking boots are just too bulky and squish my toes; I find them painful and annoying after several days on the trail. I carry a pack about 30-35 lbs and found the Lone peaks to be MUCH better for my toes and overall leg fatigue. Also, zero blisters! However, they are definitely not durable, which is typical for an Altra shoe, and I find I need more cushion under my forefoot come day 2.5-3. They have helped with descents because I am able to fully spread my foot and stabilize better than with boots. After 23 miles of hiking the AT in TN, they have some gouges in the foam, some of the rough outer coating has been rubbed off, and I can see the lamination starting to come out where the forefoot bends. I have a lingering pain under my big toes, which with hiking boots would go away after an hour or so being off my feet. Perhaps it's just my feet needing a bit more cushion compared to other people. Fit: My foot technically measures as a size 8 by various charts. My Torin 4s are an 8.5 and I wear an 8.5 in virtually every other brand of shoes (Brooks, asics, reebok, crocs, Merrell to name a few). The 8.5 in these was way too long. I downsized to an 8 regular and the length is perfect. The width is perfect after a mile or two of use.

i found these shoes to run a smidge small but thankfully this is one of the only brands i see that makes a women's 11.5! i am usually an 11 but sized up to the 11.5 and they fit perfectly. they're super comfy and the wider toe box allows my longer toes to not be crammed in. Also, the bottom has fantastic grip. Highly reccomend these shoes!

Altras run small so order at least 1 size up than your normal shoe size. If you have narrow feet, defibrillator order medium, it will still feel wide.

I measure at a 6, always have to buy a 7 to get the width right. Was finally able to order a correct size bigger (6.5 wide) for running shoes like every store suggests. Finally don't feel like I'm wearing clown shoes for my feet. Thank you Altra! Keep making the wides! Looks like there is a market and can't wait to try other styles in wide this fall! Aside from the wide width - these are responsive, grippy, and no need for breaking in. Great for all the gravel roads around my house.

Ok Altra, please don't change anything about the Lone Peak 5's!!! I absolutely love these shoes, I received mine yesterday and the moment I put them on, I knew they were perfect. It's everything I've been wanting out of a trail shoe. They are so comfortable and I love how it feels more cushioned than the 4.5 version. I will be buying more pairs. I hope the hiking ones are cushioned like these. I love how the box toe is so perfect for our natural shaped foot. I have a wide foot and these are so perfectly shaped I don't need to look for wides. Is there any possibility you can make work shoes with steel, composite or aluminum toe in this style that are oil slip resistant on the bottom and water proof and still cushioned. I would so sport them at work. Anyway, amazing job on this shoe and the Lone Peak family.

Like walking on marshmallows! I have Plantar Factitious and a collapsed arch. My feet hurt most of the time but these shoes are a dream to wear. I inserted my orthotic and they fit perfectly and no pain.

I have had three neuroma surgeries on my right foot and another neuroma is growing. My doctor recommended these shoes and I took a chance. I was pleasantly surprised as they were just what my foot needs and I can exercise again without pain. I have an extremely wide foot and these are the only sneakers I have found that have room in the width. Very pleased!

Non-runner here, just trying to find a toe box that'll help my Morton's Neuroma. And these Altria's definitely help. I stand and walk around my classroom all day, and I don't have pain. Huge thanks to the designers of this shoe.

I only recently learned about Altra shoes, so this is my first pair. I run with my dog most every morning on a soccer field near my house, and I was having such a problem with my shoes getting soaked because of the wet grass. Finally a solution!! My feet stay completely dry now, and these shoes are some of the most comfortable I have ever worn! Love, love, LOVE the fit!!

Altras run small so I always buy a half size up and they fit perfectly. I've had a cheilectomy on the big toe joint and have Morton's neuromas. Zero drop shoes are not recommended for my feet, but guess what? They feel better than anything else and stress the toe joints the least. I mostly buy Altras these days.

These shoes fit from the first time and hike. No breaking in needed. With a new zero gravity thing, it feels like you’re barefoot in a shoe. Wide in the front enough for my toes to plant out while hiking. Truly comfortable and excellent tread for hiking on trails.

Best hiking shoes I ever tried. I am middle aged, every brand of shoe and boot I have worn my whole life has been catching up to me, I have a bunion starting and was getting pain for these last couple years. I bought these Lone Peak hiking shoes after switching to Torins for walking on the streets and every day wear and they were just as good as I had hoped, I am now hiking pain free too. The larger toe box/foot shape and zero drop are amazing!

After trying other altra's not in wide specific, I'm so glad they decided to try a wide sizing on these and hope they do for many others! Though the regular pairs are supposed to be wide built already, they still didn't quite fit those with actual wide feet. When i saw altra made a wide size finally, I jumped on a pair and I'm SO GLAD I DID. I have a foot injury (sesamoiditis) that i've had for over 2 years now and have not been able to hike or run without pain. With the Lone Peak 5 in wide, I was able to go on multiple hikes this weekend with 0 pain during or after for the first time in years. I have other altra's in regular that I still can't do that in. Please keep making the wides and try it on a road shoe too!! I'll be recommending these to anyone with sesamoiditis.

I have very narrow heels, a wide toe box and a very flat foot. I've been burdened by multiple ankle surgeries, so finding a comfortable running shoe is almost impossible. These fit perfectly, my stride is more natural and I can run longer faster and more comfortably than ever
