I always wear a 7.5 in Altra. I have had several pair in different styles. This one was so wide I almost walked out of them

was excited to see wide toe box. however, they were snug on my bunions. Disappointed but will try the wide and size up. waiting for refund before ordering new size.

I am a long time lone peak fan although ever since the 4.0 I cannot get many miles out of them before they start breaking down. Unfortunately I will need to start looking for a new wide fit trail shoes.

Is this really a pair of Altras? They just don't have the roll that my other 3 pairs have. Cheaper feel to them as well.

This version has narrowed the toe box. If I wanted this, I'd buy a different brand of shoes. So disappointed with the changes. I ended up buying a wide version instead, which gave me the toe box space I was looking for, but was then a little too big everywhere else. I NEVER buy wide shoes and have pretty "average" size feet. The colors are great...just wish these fit like the 4s and 3s......

Based on the reviews, I thought this shoe would be really comfortable and supportive. I do appreciate the wide toe-box and actual foot shape, but I was disappointed to find minimal arch support and virtually no cushioning. Returned.

As an experienced trail runner, I was eager to give the Lone Peaks a try. I had heard nothing but wonderful things from friends and family, my grandmother hiked the Camino in hers, and during my section hike of the Appalachian Trail, I encountered many hikers who raved about their experience using the Lone Peaks. I had been using another brand for the past two years, running 30 plus mile days in the white mountains and backpacking in them, but was intrigued by the "slipper-like" comfort reputation that came along with the Lone Peaks. Last fall of 2020, I purchased a pair of Lone Peak 4 trail runners. Initially, I loved the product! I took them out for some casual trail runs around my town and fell in love with their comfort. The Lone Peaks are by far the most comfortable trail runner I have ever purchased, and this is why I gave the review 2 stars instead of 1. In September of 2020, I decided to go for a nice fall run in the whites on an 8-mile loop I had done many times before. I knew the route, and am a very experienced hiker and trail runner in the white mountains. Right off the bat, I noticed the shoes did not compare to my previous trial runners in grip. On wet rock, they seemed to slide around and not maintain friction. I did have an excellent run in them regardless for the first 7.75 miles of the run, making it through 3 4k footers in a little under 3 hours. The weather was beautiful and besides the lack of grip, I was cruising and in love with my shoes; however, at the 7.75-mile mark, things took a dark turn. I was barely .25 miles from the parking lot when my shoes started really losing their grip on the wet rocks and freshly fallen leaves. I kept running, trying to reach a PR since the parking lot was so close. I was almost at the parking lot when all of a sudden my foot slipped on a rock and I face-planted onto another rock in front of me. Instantly, I knew I had broken something. Adrenaline carried me back as I ran the remaining .1 mile to the parking lot, where I then collapsed and went into shock. I was taken to the emergency room, and from there spent a month going in and out of surgery as doctors reconstructed my face from my fall. I had run this route many times before in 3 out of 4 seasons of the year and had never had such horrible traction in my past experiences. I think the Lone Peak is a very comfortable shoe and great for those looking to run casual trails; however, the Lone Peaks are not cut out for alpine running or running in rocky terrain, as the grip does not maintain enough traction. I am not sure if the Lone Peak 5 may have made some adjustments to the grip on the shoes, but I am not too scared to try anything other than the shoes I have been using for the past few years.

The original sole was the only good thing about this shoe. I wore it for one day inside my apartment and it strained my left knee. Woke up the next day and tried to put them on again, but only made my knee problem worse. This shoe tends to take your knee out of alignment, as it leans inward. I have to return them.

I truly wanted to love this pair of shoes, but with the poor quality compared to price (in my opinion), the awkwardness of walking in the shoe because im not used to the wide toe box,, and the shoe not fitting properly, I will be returning.

The fabric is poor quality, and the insoles are poorly made. Not up to the usual standards that Altra has with my previous pairs.

Comfortable enough But the traction is horrible, I have almost fallen on my rear three times and have slid several times. They were sold to me as water resistant and my feet got shake walking through my yard, definitely cannot jog in the rain with these. The store I bought them from does not allow returns or exchanges after they have been worn outside which really sucks because I couldn't tell how slippery they were until I wore them outside. So I just wasted $$$ on another pair of indoor shoes

These shoes have zero support, I felt like I was running in slippers. I won’t wear them again.

I loved my Lone Peak 3.5s. LOVED THEM. I never imagined how different this shoe would be. The midfoot is too wide and my foot slides side to side in the shoe on uneven terrain, no matter how I lace or tighten the laces. This lead to the first blisters I've ever gotten with Altras. Even worse, there's no support and I'm constantly rolling my ankles all directions and developed a nasty case of tibial tendinitis. I could perhaps improve this by purchasing a quality pair of insoles but when my shoes already cost this much, I don't think I should NEED to buy an insole replacement. Please bring back the 3.5's! These are rubbish, barely worth using as run-around-town shoes.

This shoe is a snitch too long or short for me, and does not bend in the correct place for my foot. I loved the original. Returned this one in a 7 1/2 and 8. It seems to have a stiffer sole as well. Not a fan of the 5

I've been using Altra lone peaks for backpacking since the 2.0 version. These are flimsy, painful and lack support...can no longer rely on Altra to serve my hiking/backpacking needs. What a disappointment!!! Ugh...now I have to search elsewhere...and too, I'm stuck with these awful shoes. Could barely walk the last 1.5 mi of my last 13 mi backpack. Horrible product!

I purchased these shoes for the great reviews and them being recommended by many. Within 1 week of my backpacking trip I was in so much pain. It was like walking on glass. No support or cushion gave me plantar fasciitis AND tendinitis that I'm still struggling with after 4 and a half months after.

These shoes feel sloppy and like they would be fine for casual walking on trails. On technical trails however, they feel sloppy and I can feel every rock. I have run in a lot of shoes and have never had ankle pain until I started wearing these shoes. I was excited to try Altra shoes but unfortunately these steered me away.

To those of us lamenting that Altra is narrowing the shoes we love, like the Timp, Altra customer support recommends either getting a half size larger or getting one of the new wide sizes. First problem is that length doesn't solve width. The other is that I don't have a wide foot. I have a foot-shaped foot, just like the original styles. I don't have wide ankles or insteps. The wide Lone Peak was way too big all around. If people want narrower sizes, make some narrower sizes. Don't take away the shoes we originally came for.

I am a big fan of Altra. Love the zero drop and the fit of the Timp 2 and the Escalantes. I wanted to try this shoe since it's a signature model that I have heard good things about. I had to get a half size smaller than I usually wear in Altra. However I could not keep this shoe. The volume of it is just WAY too large. On technical trail the shoe kept folding itself around my foot. Felt terrible, gave me blisters. I have a pretty standard volume foot with high/normal arches. It was not possible to continue wearing. With Altras you just have to try to find the right fit and they are great. Ive been super happy with their durability, etc. Good luck!
