This is the second pair of Merrell hiking shoes I have bought. Both of them are very comfortable. When I buy the hiking shoes, I first wear them as casual shoes (around the city, malls, grocery store, etc). After two or three years, I start wearing them for day hikes. The first pair was a perfect fit; I give 5 stars. I bought them at a shoe store, which enabled me to try them on before purchase. I can walk in the shoes for hours and my feet would not get tired - even when hiking. The only reason I gave 4 stars in my review was because I bought the second pair on-line. Though they are very comfortable, I have to wear a thick pair of socks for the shoes to fit snuggly. I have not used the second pair for hiking yet, but I am sure that they would be great. I am sure that my third pair, whenever I buy them, will most probably be a Merrell brand.

Comfortable, well fitting - as previous members of the Moab family I've worn - but a bit less stability than I expected. Overall, a good trail shoe!

Excellent comfort. A little more top end and lateral support would make this sneaker perfect.

Fits great. Comfortable too. Just one thing moderate use causes the toe seam to separate. Overall good quality. It may to be the way I hike in the Merrells
I'd also recommend:

Lightweight and weather resistant. Love this shoe. Kinda wish downhill toe support was a bit better.

Just received. Be sure to order a half size smaller. And heel does lift out a little. Otherwise, super comfortable and look sharp

It's a great pair of running shoes , but can be improved on cushion. Specially for a person that's running all the time.

Great shoe but the arch hit my foot in the wrong place.

These are great except for one very critical component - the strap at the back that's supposed to help you get the shoe on is mounted too low, and the top of the shoe always folds down into the shoe! Very poor design and very frustrating! Merrell, please fix this nonsensical design choice!

I love theses shoes but resent them too. I have owned 2 pairs. Comfortable, lightweight, with great traction from New Hampshire white mnts to Hawaiian craters. After 100 miles, I upgraded (or so I thought) to the waterproof version. While it was waterproof with all the same great traits the shoes uppers have proven to be not very durable with rips and tears in multiple locations. This is so not up to Merrill standards!

After close to a month of daily usage, I'm not sure about the fit of these ... The sole is super soft and I find that they lack support and my feet keeps moving inside despite the shoes being the right size. I'm worries that the heel will wear out quickly.

I've been wearing them for a few months so far. They are comfortable, but I find they run wide, but true to size. Since they run wide, I had to add a cushioned liner, but that raises my foot too high, so my heel slides around in the heel pocket alot. This is the only pair of over 10 Merrells I have that I just can't get perfectly comfortable.

These were lighter weight than other trail shores I've had and unfortunately it will take some time to know if they offer enough support.

Had a few Merrell shoes before , this one looks elegant however the Material is not very strong and the sole is Foamy , not like the usual strong sole. I do not feel this shoes will.last lomg as the others . This is not a hiking shoes at all , I will use it for walking only.

I bought these to hike part of the Appalachian Trail. After hiking parts of Maine and Georgia in them, I have some thoughts... The Good: they are very comfortable right out of the box. They feel great on trail. They have a cushy ride that resulted in zero blisters over 80 miles of hiking. They are lightweight and stable. The bad: they would never hold up long term on the Appalachian Trail, they just aren't durable enough. Full disclosure, I've had two pairs of these now - one pair I took out for a modest 9.5 miles on the AT in Maine. Afterwhich the sole began peeling away from the mid-layer foam (see pictures). After a warranty replacement and a brand new pair, I took them out for 40 miles on the trail in Georgia. During which, the sole began breaking and peeling away from the mid-layer foam again (see pictures). I understand the trail can be brutal, but this kind of damage is simply too much to recommend these for any serious hiker. With the kind of reliable mileage these shoes are getting, you would need at least 21 pairs to get you through the AT. My recommendation: If you're walking a relatively flat dirt surface, these will do just fine. If you're wanting to have some real adventure in these, best to look elsewhere.

Picked same Merrell shoe size as my previous pair, however these are slightly smaller. Cannot wear shoes as hoped.

I purchased these shoes as an alternative to trail runners. Much of the hiking that I do these days are short 2-6 mile dirt and rock trails with my 5 year old son ( who loves his trail chasers.) I no longer need to carry a pack of any type and wanted something more light weight than the regular moab boots I also have. The rockplate was something I really needed as my feet were getting beatup from landing on sharp rocks. Though comfortable and light weight, I find several flaws with the moab speed. The Vibram eco soles are mostly adequate on dry but moisture renders the grip useless. We live in Utah and hike about 3 times a week and many trails have granite rock with water crossings. However, the absolute worst thing about the speed is that lack of lockdown that can be achieved. The forefoot slips badly on steep terrain. I cannot size down or my toes will touch the end. I have what is considered a slighty wide foot and still have a huge problem. There are no filaments to keep the toebox from shifting or any that allow for tightening of the laces. The mesh and tpu needs a material re-design. Almost every other brand have some type of flexible woven material that offers more stability, especially on their light weight shoes. They are attractive and ok for walking on simple trails, wander into anything even slightly technical or requiring scrambling, please pass.

Good shoes in general The only thing really upset me is the orange color at the pictures looks so vivid but in live to fade and peel really disappointing

I usually wear Moabs but this new style seems to be much narrower than before. I love the colours, the quality seems to be true to Merrell shoes, but they are unfortunately too tight for me (size 15). I would like to see Merrell start making a wide option.

Received these shoes but unfortunately, the toe bed area is way too wide, and the shoe itself is just too long.. Normally wear 8.5 but this MOAB Speed model the sizing seemed off. Tried to exchange for another Model of MOAB (FLIGHT) which I already own, but was unsuccessful. Just try the size before you buy. Have to return.

I was really happy with the fit and support of these shoes out of the box. After wearing them 3 months, they have no more support (sole or upper) and feel like I'm wearing slippers. Didn't last long enough for me to warrant the expense.
