Picked these up from a local running store about 2 weeks ago and I love them! I live in the Seattle area where the two seasons are summer and rain, so the grass is always wet and trails muddy. Despite the hate online for waterproof shoes and boots, I'm over my feet being wet the second I start my walk or hike, so the GoreTex lining is welcome and works great. They're incredibly comfortable and have excellent traction. Took them out for a spin today at the Cable Line trail just east of Seattle, which is a straight shoot up the mountain. It was very, very muddy, but I never lost traction, even running downhill. Was really impressed with how they handled mud and wet rock. Got a few longer trail runs in and they felt great; cushioning is welcome, they feel responsive, the upper feels good, and the traction is great. Walking around town, they feel just right. Because of the GoreTex lining, washing them after time on the trail is a breeze. They work great as hiking shoes, trail runners, or just a casual shoe to run errands.
The only downside is the toe box runs unusually narrow. I had to go a full size up just to get enough width in the toe box, but now there's just a little too much length in the toe box so my feet slide quite a bit when doing steep downhills. It's a tradeoff I'm willing to make given how comfortable they are otherwise, the excellent grip, and the GoreTex lining. For runs and hikes with steep descents, I'll probably reach for a different shoe, but for every other situation, these are my go to!

After a 10 hr day my feet hurt really bad, I thought this sneakers would help me but it isn't the case, I bought 2 pairs and both are the same, also they are EXTREMELY LOUD!!! when walking, it's really annoying and when I get ready in the morning I can't wear them until I'm ready to be out the door so I don't wake my wife. Very disappointed after I spent almost $400

Bought the Hoka Challenger 6 GTX 14D only because reviews mentioned a wide toe box. Hoka does not make this model in a 14 wide/2E. Hoka should make a new Challenger 7 GTX in a 14 wide/2E and make the Challenger ATR 7 in a GTX version in 14 wide/2E. I wear the Gaviota 3 and 4 in 14 wide, and the Gaviota ought to be available in a waterproof or GTX version, too. On cool or cold rainy days, runners need stability or motion control as well as waterproof shoes. By the way, so do folks running through 2 - 3 inches of snow or slush.

I wanted to love this shoe (and the previous pair of Hoka Clifton's I bought) but the arch support is painful on my feet. I know they make a great product and wish the shoes worked for me. It's not you, it's me, Hoka.

I got these shoes for my husband who usually wears a 13 or 14 and the 14 was way too tight and cramped in the toebox. Zappos didn't have a size 15 so I ended up ordering these right from HOKA. He likes the shoe, but HOKA should get the sizing right.

I am a therapist which keeps me active and on my feet all day. I usually use Brooks Ghost but I switched last year to HOKA Clifton 8 due to support and help with limiting my over supination (rolling ankle outward) and was very happy. Unfortunately, I bought the Challenger because they offered all black shoe. After 2 weeks each day my lateral side of foot is killing me after wearing. I was hoping just break in period but has not improved. Highly recommend not buying if you have similiar foot

I really liked the idea of Hoka using Gore-Tex brand for waterproof shoes. Unfortunately they don't offer any shoe with Gore-Tex in a wider sizes which I need. The regular sizes in Gore-Tex just don't fit me.

I wear them everyday. They are comfortable, but not as comfortable as the 5's. I wore them for 3 weeks, and the rubber toe is peeling off. I've had pretty good luck with Hokas, but maybe I will try a different model

Really well made shoes but my feet tend to be a little wide and these shoes run a little narrow, so they are a little tight on my feet.

These shoes are not worth the high price. I am happier with the fit, comfort, and price of New Balance shoes.

I bought a pair of Challenger ATR's a bout a year ago in men's size 8.5. After swapping out the insole, those shes were, without a doubt, the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn for hiking, backpacking and working all day on a concrete floor. Fast forward a year later. I ordered the exact same shoe and size and they are MUCH more narrow and about 1/2 size shorter. Both pair are Challenger ATR 6, but are sized very differently. I returned for a size 9, which fit better lengthwise, but are still markedly more narrow than the pair I bought a year ago. So be warned...Hoka sizing/QC has changed. Too bad. They really were the best shoes I've ever owned.

I have been wearing Hoka’s for years and never had blisters like this. Tore up after only a four mile run. I really wanted to like these since the previous version was great.

After all the reviews I watched or read the soles of these running sneakers are harder and more ridged than I thought they would be.

Waterproof shoes are not as flexible as regular Hokas, so order 1 size larger.

I bought these for my husband to wear when he coached baseball; he said that at first they were comfortable, but they wore out very quickly.

I usually stick to bondi, this time I decided to get these due to the gore tex, my shoes get wet easily at work. I noticed after a month of use my feet were very sore the next morning. After the next month my plantar fasciitis started to hurt again, I switched back to bondi and after two weeks of wearing my Mizuno and bonds pairs the pain went away. Seems like if I try to use these for a few days they start to bother me.

These shoes are not as comfortable as others I wear. The arch support cuts into my foot making it uncomfortable to wear for any length of time.

It's a decent shoe. A little narrow in the toe for me.
My biggest complaint is the emails following the purchase. I just purchased a pair of sneakers and the next day I'm receiving ads for shoes. I haven't even received the shoes yet.
Decent shoes but bad email marketing tactics.

Would not recommend this shoe for running, lite walking about five to six miles ok after breaking in. Never had a pair of walking/running shoes that gave me blisters around your toes, these do. Would not buy again. They do feel very soft to walk in but my feet had to get used to them.

Perhaps they are too narrow. Not sure. Everyone told me how comfortable Hokas are, but I am not having that same experience. They do not feel cushiony.

I sized up and purchased mens but they are still too narrow. Unfortunately I had an ankle injury right after purchasing and just had the chance to try them out, but it's beyond the return window.
