Had to send these back the first time. Never had sizing problems with shoes at Zappos before I got these. They definitely (in my case) ran almost a full size smaller. That being said, I finally got the size that fit and they are snug but comfortable.s

Toebox feels a little more cramped than previous iterations of the challengers. I have a rather narrow foot too. This is my first time getting the goretex version of the challenger so maybe that is the reason. Same great grip and cushion you'd expect with hoka trail shoes, I just wish my toes had a little more space to spread out. They do keep your feet dry as advertised.

these hokas are waterproofed with GoreTex, giving them a much stiffer and firmer feel than the non waterproof versions. They are very comfortable, although not as flexible and not quite as easy to fit. You do get used to them after a few wearings. It is nice to know that you can wear these shoes in wet weather and through an occasional puddle without getting soaked. but, they seem much more of a walking shoe than a runner.

These shoes fit well. I guess I am lucky because I have purchased many pairs of shoes online and only a few were ill fitting. These are my first pair of Hokas, I have been using New Balance for many years. I know Hokas are the premium comfort shoes. Was very happy to find a discount on these, usually Gore Tex shoes carry a high price. Have bought shoes from Zappos before, their service is always good

This is a great shoe, however, Hoka has changed their shoe designs that make them all narrower than they used to be. I have owned over a dozen pairs of Hokas, and I was never a "wide" in their sizing. Now I have to order the wide size, and they are still a bit narrow in the toe box.

I got a pair of GTX Challenger 5's in early 2020 and wore them constantly, all over the world from New Zealand to Yosemite on trails, regular daily walks, and every day use. I actually still have them but retired them to just "around the neighborhood" use. I recently got a pair of 6's and they are in the same realm of reliability, however they are slightly more narrow in the toe box (I have super narrow bony feet) and are even a little less roomy for my tastes. I still love the bounce and cushion and of course the goretex works perfectly on rainy walks. The meta rocker feel more pronounced, which isn't all that important to me as I am not a runner, just a person always on their feet and finding myself on varying forms of terrain. Overall it's a great shoe for all around use on trails and pavement. I am a ten but always size up 1/2 with the GTX version and it feels better.

I decided to try out Hokas after coming from zero drop shoes with lower stack. Overall have loved them so far, but they definitely run a bit small. Exchanging for a 12.5 (usually wear a 12 or 30cm). Getting used to bigger heel/toe drop and smaller toe box- hopefully bigger size will help with my pinky toes not getting crushed against the sides. I do like the added stability the smaller box gives on technical terrain, however I think this would be the PERFECT all around shoe if it had a bigger toe box, and a smaller heel-toe, 0-2mm. Overall happy though. Best GTX shoe I've found in this price range without compromising quality. Seems like it'll hold up for quite sometime, but again would love a lower heel-toe and slightly bigger toe box.

I was hoping that the Gore lining wouldn't hold too much heat and it's just fine.

I work for a moving company and these shoes have served me well so far. They're comfortable as can be, they help my knees and shin splints but I have only had them for 3 months and the tread is about worn out. I know they are for trail running but I didn't expect them to be torn up so easily. I expect them to last another couple of months bit for the price, I expected more.

I picked up a pair of Challenger ATR 6s to fill a critical gap in my rotation: a winter shoe I can run in when the snow falls and the streets get slick. They arrived 4 days ago and I've logged about 20 miles in them. About half of those were on trails and the other half on the roads. The upper is built like a tank - very protective and durable. The tongue is thickly padded and helps the lockdown stay comfortable. While this Challenger features a high stack of CMEVA foam, the ride feels firm and stiff on the roads. It's really not a very pleasant road shoe for me. But the shoe really feels much more natural on single-stack dirt paths and other off-road terrain. Though it's marketed as an all-terrain commuter, I find that it's actually a pretty good trail shoe. Moving forward, I'm going to use it on my weekly trail training runs and save my Speedgoat 5s for race days and more technical trails.

My first hoka and I'm glad i got this one. While I'm sure it's not as light as other trail runners this shoe is extremely sturdy and comfortable during just about every activity.

These shoes are fantastic! I do tons of walking at work and I love these shoes. It's like walking on a cloud. I just wish they had a simple all black color like the 1st pair I got, or black and grey.

Very aesthetically pleasing, and lots of arch support, but unfortunately ran narrower than my other Hokas probably because of the goretex around the toe box.

Just got these and have only done two runs of 10k each, but overall fairly happy with these. Coming off some Hoka Clifton 7's for the summer, which ran much more narrow than these. I will also say that the Challenger ATR 6's are somewhat narrower than the Challenger ATR 5's I wore through last winter. That being said, performance wise if these hold up like the ATR 5's I should expect nice dry feet running through whatever snow and slush this Michigan winter is going to throw at me. I'm an all-weather runner and the last pair of ATR 5's did not disappoint.

The shoes fit as expected, but this is the first pair I have purchased. They feel better than expected and have performed on the trail very well. I look forward to my next pair.

I enjoy the comfort of Hoka One One shoes. They are the best and most comfortable shoe for me. I have plantar fasciitis so they really help with that condition in my feet. The insole sticker is my only real issue with Hoka One One brand shoes. All of the stickers fall off when worn for a few hours and it seems pointless to put those stickers in the shoe. Other than that particular issues impacting all 4 pairs of Hoka One One shoes I have purchased, I am a really happy with the brand in general and the new designs that are lightweight and made from Gore-Tex. These are a lifesaver for my job of coaching competitive swimmers. Nice job Hoka One One!

I normally wear a women’s 9d. I had to get these in men’s 7.5ee to fit. Don’t know why they are so much narrower than my cliftons. Think they will be great on my muddy Pacific Northwest hikes.

As an all terrain shoe, capable of handling both trail and road running, this shoe hits the mark. Of course there are better pure trail runners, and better pure road running shoes available, but this shoe does both well, if not perfectly. For me, it fits the bill. The trails I run are not too technical, so the lower profile tread works fine for me on trail and allows me to also run gravel roads and short paved sections when necessary. The cushioning is nice without being overkill. If I could give half points it would be a 4.5 for me. Since that's not possible, I rounded down, since all shoes can be improved. In this case I would like a slightly wider toe box, but that won't affect a lot of people as I like/need a wider toe box than most. I've not had opportunity to test the Gore-Tex yet, but I think it's safe to assume it will work as advertised (it always does). All in all, I'm very satisfied with the Hoka Challenger ATR 6 Gore-Tex.

Great shoe, purchased for some winter trail running. Has performed excellently solo and paired with some korker running crampons. Issues: Slight bend of fabric inside lft shoe that irritates if I'm just wearing them around but on runs it somehow seems to not be an issue.

I recently purchased my first Hoka for running, love them. I decided to purchase a waterproof pair for active outside activities, as I live in a temperate rain forest and our Fall is usually 30-40 degrees and very wet. So far so good, they do rub a bit below ankles, my only complaint. Have held up well on outside runs, muddy hikes, shoveling the driveway, even with spikes on hiking on snow and ice. Not too hot, but I'm wearing them in a cold climate too.
