I decided to test this boot in ice, snow and muddy conditions. After 3 hrs of hiking my feet remained dry and warm. Very light and comfortable with nice ankle support.

I hike 6-10+ miles every morning across 2 streams, up and down hills, rocks, roots and often mud. These hands down are the best hiking boots I ever had. There was really no break-in period. They were comfortable from the first moment I put them on. The elongated heel provides great stability and grip, and with the best padding I've ever experienced from a hiking boot, I can easily transition to running almost like a sneaker. I got a second pair to allow an extra day for the boots to dry since I regularly walk through water. That said, the waterproofing of the boot is also exceptional. In sum, this is the best designed and built hiking boot I've ever owned.

I preordered these and they are amazing I'm on my feet working all day outside and these are honestly like pillows on my feet. Highly recommend them I'm going to buy another pair just to have and one more pair for my dad for Christmas.

Hiking trails, including steep and rocky and sometimes snow covered. Also some bushwhacking through rough terrain. We go 5 - 7 miles a day. Felt a bit strange the first day, but didn't really notice them very often after that. Excellent traction in all conditions encountered. So far so so good.

These weigh virtually the same as the Tor Ultra Hi's they're replacing, so even though they're bulky, they are relatively light. The traction with the mega grip sole is superb! The Hubble heel was not nearly as obtrusive as I imagined it would be. However going down indoor stairs is dangerous. You'll still need thick socks if you wanna stay warm in snow, but that's expected. I would highly recommend these.

I have a weird bone spur on heel of right foot and it breaks my heart that this boot will not work out for me since I own approximately 30 pairs of HOKA shoes to date. I had to return these boots for refund. It is absolutely a dynamite design. Would recommend it for hikers.

I was weary of this shoe due to the wild design but wanted maximum cushion for my daily hikes. I need extra cushion due to my compromised knees and back. I have learned to put the heel first more to optimize the design and cushion and then role your step pushing off with the calf muscle. The tread does very well and I tried it on wet leaves, rocks, through deep puddles, and wood bridges. I walked in the rain and the gore Tex works great. Seems like a strange design but a great shoe.

I normally wear a 10.5 but order 11.5's and we're still way too tight. Run at least a full size too small maybe even a size and a half.

I have 4 pairs of Hoka's & this one is my least favorite. I wish I had bought another hi top hike pair. They are not worth what I paid.

Compared to my first pair of Tennine GTX-es, the sole is a bit narrower at the rear, and the foam feels a bit harder. That means that the roll-off from the heel going downhill is still very good, but that the ball of the foot receives more pressure. On my first hike at Horseshoe Meadows I actually had painful balls of the foot. After adding a pair of socks it was fine, no blisters going up to Whitney's trail crest and coming back down in 1 day. I presume the new model will last longer than the old one. Actually, the narrower sole was badly needed to make my microspikes fit. Of course, I still had to modify the spikes rubber and add longer straps because Hoka's are not made for microspikes. I hope Hoka will bring out microspikes that fit the Tennines and Kahas size 14 some day.

Super soft and durable. The under armor boots don't come close at all. No other boots comes close. The sole is awesome, I don't feel the jagged rocks at all. Feels like walking on pillows. The only improvements would be to increase padding on the tongue because if laced too tight the strings hurt on the top of the foot. Increase padding for more ankle protection. Better lacing system, the hook laces are cumbersome especially at night.
Recap:
More padding on tongue and ankle
Better lacing system
Otherwise perfect

I was a month away from hiking the Camino Santiago, in Spain, and I developed severe plantar fasciitis. These babies were my only hope. I started walking in the States and got them broken in prior to leaving. I was able to walk the whole route and enjoy it!! Thank you Hoka Development Team these boots are genius!!

I have worn Hoka's for many, many years, so I am quite familiar with the brand and wear. This model is by Far the most comfortable of any Hoka I have worn. I am about one month in wearing them and my wife also purchased the girl version of this same model and she feels the same way. We are senior in age and hike miles per week. It is my opinion that one of the reasons for the walking on cloud feel is due to the wider & long heel, which is the first place your hoof touches down when you're walking. With this enhanced platform, it helps cushion the weight of the step. The added heel size in no way limits any activity you will do.
Negatives: Ha, "NONE"! I tell people there are two areas you never want to financially scrimp in and that is your shoes and mattress (your Health goes without saying). After all, you spend most of your life in one of these two areas... Respect your feet, go get a pair...! :)
