Since breaking my foot and ankle 29 years ago, pain during and after hiking has been an unavoidable part of the hiking I enjoy. But prior to a big trip to hike the "O" circuit in Torres del Paine National Park, I took a chance on the unusual looking Hoka TenNine boots. 85 miles of steep, rocky, slippery, fast paced hiking later, I can say that each of nine days were the most pain free I've experienced in 29 years. The radical design works....and the radical design posed no problem negotiating steep sections over closely spaced tangled roots. At the end of the day I was in no hurry to get out of my boots. Stream crossings verified the waterproof Goretex. Traction on wet clay and rocks was excellent. Even the laces worked well, never coming untied! TenNines made for a great multiday hiking experience.

I have confirmed that you can indeed hike forever in these. 35 miles climbing Pikes Peak with at least 20 pounds of gear was wonderful with these. I have wide feet and these work great for me. Worth the extra weight for me.

I use these shoes for work. I'm a courier for fedex and I'm on my feet all day. I've put these shoes through cold rainy days and they kept my feet dry and warm. They have been durable over these past few months I've had them. They've been great for my knees and balance getting in and out of my truck all day. My only issue and it's not a big one is, the heel that sticks out catches the stairs when I go down them and the bottom along that back heel is starting to come off. I have to make sure when going down the stairs to focus on turning my feet to an angle to go down them.

I'm a police officer and bought these shoes for work. After wearing them for a couple of weeks I can clearly assess that it's a very comfortable shoe for the job. I highly recommend them.

I am fortunate to own several pairs these Hoka 10-9’s in different colors. I normally wear a men’s size 10. I always order a size 10.5 in the 10-9. These are the most comfortable and stable shoe I own. I only walk and hike in them. No more heel strike, ankle, foot and/or hip pain after walking/hiking. I am older and I have planned so I will never be without a pair. Driving and doing stairs in these has not been a problem.

I own Brooks Beast, Kuru Hiking Boots, Hoka Gaviota 4s, and Hoka Ten Nine Hike Gortex. My main issue is right foot pronation causing a lot of ankle and top of the foot pain. I'm an avid athlete, hike every day of the year about 5 miles a day, lift weights 5-6 days a week, have done a lot of long distance cycling (i.e Oregon to Virginia), am 5 foot 9 inches and weigh about 190 pounds. The Hokas -- either one beat the Beast and the Kuru boot, although these two are pretty good. Biggest issue with the TenNine is driving, the shoe is so big it isn't safe to drive with. Beautiful however on the trails. Virtually pain free and no pronation. The perfect shoe would be the Gaviota 4 in a hightop, with treads for outdoors, but the TenNine is close to perfection!

These are my 6th or 7th Hoka shoes. It is the only brand I’ve worn for the last 3 or 4 years. I always replace the factory insoles with a much more supportive one. These are not shoes that escape attention! They are kinda odd looking with the extended heel. Couple that with the size 13 I wear, and they look like gunboats. I will be ordering another pair as soon as they are available in my size! I am very pleased with the fit, comfort and style.

This comfortable water resistant trail shoe feels like it is the cross of a snowshoe and a plush slipper! It has great stability with a wide base and couldn't be more comfortable on a foot. It's worth its expensive price.

I bought these a few months ago and have been waiting to write a review until I put these to test on a 2 week trip to Iceland which I just got back from. I wanted something lightweight with great traction and maximum comfort. This shoe exceeded every expectation and then some. On my trip I wore these every day and hiked no less than 7-10 miles per day in what I would consider extreme conditions. Snow, ice, rain, hail - you name it, I hiked on it in these shoes and they were literal life savers. It is so comfortable that it's almost hard to describe, feels like the shoe is energizing you forward. I am just getting over a wicked battle with plantar fasciitis in my right foot and these shoes truly made my feet feel amazing after hiking up mountains in pretty wild conditions. Now, I've seen some reviews talking about the waterproofing. I work for a major outerwear company that sells tons of work boots and many consumers don't understand what a waterproof shoe actual means. It means that the shoe will hold off water up to a certain extent, but if you step in a foot of water over the laces, the shoe will obviously become wet. Since I was hiking in the rain and snow, I did take on a little water in the toe box but never so much to the point where I had swamp foot happening, just a little Moisture. The material on the inside of the boot is meant to dry easily and I had no problem taking a blow dryer for about 30 seconds to dry them out after hiking on a glacier. The tread is incredible and the large heel makes it easy for walking on inclines and uneven surfaces. This might be the most I've ever spent on a single pair of shoes, but after putting them to the test I am happy to say that these are worth every penny.

These boots are epic. Lightweight, flexible, comfortable right of the box, and the most cushion and shock absorption of any boot out on the market. I'm a UPS driver, so I know, ha. The only thing is there is a hot spot on one of the lace hook points that bothers me at times. I can skip it in the lace-up, using the other 2 and that seems to get rid of the discomfort. More padding on the inside of the boot under each of these hooks would alleviate this altogether. Hint, hint, design team. I should also mention the heel, lol. It looks funny, but in practical day to day use they are like other regular soles. Walking down steps is a little clumsy. Haven't taken them hiking yet to try out the heel feature, but will at some point. The mountains are about a 2 hr. drive. Asheville here I come. Also, I wear a size 9, but order one size up for more room in the toe box area:) Thanks for the comfort and dryness you have created.
