I've owned these shoes for two years now and something compelled me to write a review. I'll admit I am NOT a trail runner, however, living in the north east, I am frequently running on wet/icy/snowy pavement. I bought these shoes as my winter running shoes and I couldn't be any happier. The shoes are decently insulated, so I never have cold feet, and most importantly, they are extremely slip resistant. I can run through snow or step on ice and never lose my footing. Highly recommend these shoes to not only trail runners, but also winter runners that don't want to risk slipping.

Great Trail running shoe that also works fantastic on the road or bike path.

Lovelovelove them! They have become my favorite shoes for trail running! I had purchased another top brand and I was having pain in my left arch. These have the support & cushioning I was hoping for, and have taken the pain away. I will wear these ones out, and buy another pair!

Love these. Very light, fit great, and don't slip on wet crosswalk paint like my beloved Lone Peaks.

I bought this pair as a spare set because I love the ones I'm running in now so much. This has been the first shoe I found without all the extra super thick padding, stupid shaped heels, and all the engineering that did nothing but ruin my knee and Achilles. These thin soul shoes work great, have great traction, and all my aches and pains have gone away

Absolutely fantastic shoe. I can?t believe this thing has a toe protector. It?s so light for a trail shoe

I love these! Perfect fit and nice for trail running. I'm wide in the toe and narrow in the heel. They do wear out fast, though. The fabric is worn out in many places even though relatively speaking I don't have that many miles on them. They wear out maybe twice as fast as my Brooks Launch pair did.

My second pair of the Catamount shoe is in shipping -- the first pair is worn out after a year of good use. My left leg is shorter than my right by about 1/2 inch, and I picked these shoes for the thick soles of a uniform tough foam: I can cut through and remove foam from the right shoe and glue things back together and I'm able to walk and run without ruining my back. Ordering my second pair, I misread the size label in the tongue, lettering almost worn off, saw the UK size 9 but could no longer read that it was UK & ordered that size. Got 'em, too small, VERY EASY RETURN, & have the correct US size 10 in shipment. My mistake, but Brooks made it very easy to get that straightened out.

i love the catamounts - they're my second pair now. they're not the lightest shoes out there, but for trail shoes they're getting there. i run mostly pretty fast and flowy single or double track, not too many hills but tons of roots and small rocks.
i also have some experience hiking in the alps in these.
the rock plate is great - i don't notice the things i roll over. but the real gem is the foam. even on soft dirt it has so much pop and is so energetic and fun. not cheap, but worth every penny.
note - i'm a big guy (200 lbs) with a slowish cadence (~168-170 on trail) and i only get ~250 miles out of them.

Best trail runners I've tried yet! Super strong sole soaks up rocks and sharp edges. Good cushion and spring.

I really like the shoe but I have only used it only for 15 miles on concrete trails so far but I would definitely recommend it!

This shoe works for me. It's fast, it's stable, it's durable. I only wish it had a little more cushion for longer runs.

Love the shoe (amazing) but changed out the laces for diff color (vs bright yellow). Great as a road or trail shoe which is really hard to find. And looks really good for casual wear. You should have laces as an accessory to buy online (had to go elsewhere).

These are great shoes. I wouldn't use them for serious or intense trail running, but they're perfect for well maintained trails. They're also great for switching back and forth between dirt and pavement. I highly recommend.
