Pleased with the shows. Not used ASICS for years. True fit. Delivery was quite slow though.

Sturdy trail runner. Some extra cushioning may have been an advantage but overall a solid running shoe.

Good cushioning and true size. Secure and supportive for over pronation. Short laces tho - need to tie up tight for long distances.

It can be difficult getting a decent heel lock. Great ride otherwise

I bought these about 9 months ago and they have served their purpose well. Good grip on mud and loose rocks, but still fairly light. Have enough cushion to keep going for a long while and have done me well. After 250km (155 miles) they started to tear between the upper and the sole along the side. These tears have continued as the shoes have now reached a mileage of 270km (167 miles). I believe that these shoes wont last far beyond 320km (200 miles). The only other slight issue was that the shock protection on the sole is quite poor in my opinion as sharp stones and rocks are felt very easily. The only thing to note is that I do race these shoes in hill or fell running races, so this may be a reason that they haven't quite filled the Asics Expectation. Would still recommend as have been a great step up from Gel Venture 8s, but please be aware of the longevity. (Longevity has killed my last 3 pairs of Asics shoes!)

Gorgeous looking shoe, great grips but had to send back as too big!

Shoes run a little large would recommend taking half a size down - had to send back and re-order.

I love these trainers for my trail runs! I have only completed 5 or so runs with them so I can't comment on how long they last but they are super comfortable, breathable, light and have very good grip.
Only lost a star because I think the lacing system I have on my other pair of ASICS trainers is better. I can't remember the model but they tighten further towards the base of the feet - keeping the shoe that little bit more sturdy to the foot. If I'd never worn those I wouldn't notice though.

Good grip on muddy footpaths when going forward but lacks lateral grip when contouring the side of a hill. I found the cushioning when on the road surprisingly good for a trail shoe.

It was a bigger size than the previous running shoes of the same Asics size I have. I recommend half the size smaller, but if you want more toe space then ok.

I bought this shoes to make my first ultra trail. I received them two months ago and imediatly started to make my mountain runs with them.
Great confort.
Great stability.
Good response.
Great grip.
At two days ago have made my first 45k distance. The weather were awful. To much rain and mud. Even so the shoes are effective and trustworthy in the terrain. I've never lost confidence uphill or downhill. Very good really.
Just one problem, the upper mesh is not at the same quality from the rest shoe. In two months it started opening a hole in the outback of my big toe. What a shame... almost perfect!

After falling in love with my Asics Metarun's 3 months ago, their trail shoes were an obvious first port of call... and boy have did they not dissapoint! All I can say is these shoes provide a perfect balance between grip, support and agility. The perfect trio for a trail run...

The Trabuco 9 is much better than the Kayano 27 because the Kayano is too tight in the toe. They are made in different countries and this may explain the difference.

Be careful of width with these and the tongue / shoe body attachment point's are not well thought out nor executed. Pair I got I spent over 1 hr with a modelling knife shaving the stitching interface down to something acceptable that I can wear.
Functionality wise, does all that is asked of a trail shoe, surprised that this pair was not upto ASIC's standard quality

Excellent running shoe. Light, good grip, good cushioning and comfortable for a narrow and thin foot. Perhaps slightly bigger in size than normal for ASICS.

Built well for the purpose. Look good. Sadly they were too narrow across the toe box so I needed to return them.

A good trail shoe in many respects. The cons: short laces if every eyelet is used, getting equal tension across the the shoe is difficult with the lacing system, and there can be a lot of foot movement inside the shoe on steep, muddy downhills (though it was common for other manufacturers' shoes on the course.) The pros: much better drainage than the predecessor, stronger upper materials, excellent rock protection and grip, excellent uphill grip and stability, and, once the lacing sweet spot is found, good comfort. This review comes after multiple gravel and dirt trail runs, and 40 miles of continuous running during an event with mud, rain, creek crossings, steep and technical hills both up and down, and multiple sock changes. Not as supportive for the overpronator as the 8, but a shoe I can recommend.

Great traction. Order a half size smaller - I like Asics, but this was longer than other Asics I've owned, so I'm returning it.
