I haven't done too many runs in these shoes yet, but what I have done has been awesome! I was so tired of my toes always getting squeezed together by other shoe brands; other brands seem to neglect the fact that people have a pinky toe, and I'd always finish runs with a pinky toe that's gone numb. These are my first pair of Topos and tbh I'm pretty impressed so far. I like how these shoes have the wide toe box, but still cup my heel and hugs the midfoot, so it still feels secure (I can't stand when my feet slide around in shoes). I also have relatively flat feet and these shoes have just enough support that it's not a neutral shoe yet still flexible, and unlike other support shoes I don't feel like I'm smacking the ground with concrete blocks attached to my feet. (Much less important than the shoe's actual mechanics, I also really like the crazy color combo - it's wild but not too bright or attention grabbing, just enough for people to ask "hey what kind of shoes are those?") I have tried COUNTLESS other brands and nothing was making me happy or checking all the boxes of what I wanted in a running shoe. I have weird feet and I think Topo practically caters to that. So if you're fed up with traditional running shoes and don't know what to try next, Topo may be right for you!

Great fit, great feel, and was pleasantly surprised with how lightweight they are given that they are marketed as a cushioned stability shoe. My only reason for deducting from 5 stars is the fact that this email was addressed to "Becky" and my name is Kate ;)

I love the fit of these and was excited to find a wide toe box with a 5mm drop option (can't seem to be able to do the 0). Unfortunately, I'm starting to get knee pain after three months of running and short of 200 miles that I normally get from my shoes when I hit 300-350. I noticed there is more wear on these at 200 than I would expect, with some of the foam looking pretty compressed.

I had to return because I need a more secure upper. I have flexible feet that need some guidance in the upper of the shoe. These were too soft. Otherwise, I loved them

The shoe runs short. My ortho doctor had recommended the shoe as a wide toe box for my bunion. However, the toe box was no wider than my Hoka speedboat 4 shoe and was half a size too shorter than my Hoka. I did like how it fit my narrow heel. The shoe definitely has light cushioning. I use an orthopedic insert. I returned the shoe.

I loved the wide toe box, and it felt great. Unfortunately the rest of the shoe was too narrow and that caused the arch support to fall in the wrong place for my wide foot. I wish there were a wide option for people to who truly need a wide shoe (not just a wide toe box)!

I actually own this exact shoe that I bought at a local store and LOVE them, unfortunately, they only had the one pair so I came to Zappos to purchase a second pair to have as a backup. I'm not sure if these were worn by someone for a long period of time around their house but these are stitched out and are a horrible fit. Fortunately it's free shipping both ways.
I'd also recommend:

I’ve realized lately that I need a shoe with more toe box room, so I did a ton of research and arrived at these. They are comfortable and given their slightly orthopedic function they are relatively stylish. But today was the first time I wore them out of my house and I just noticed that some of the rubber on the sole is coming loose already. This makes me really sad. If anyone at Zappos can help me with this, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

These look smaller on your feet which is good but they also feel smaller and tight. They do have good toe box room. The laces are a bit odd being rather short.

Toe box was ample but the mid foot was too snug on me. I have wide feet and a bunion though so YMMV. Purchased street shoe size but would do a half size up because I like wearing socks with sneakers.

This shoe felt great, very well cushioned, and I loved the fit being roomy in the toe box while still providing a snug fit in the heel (first time I've ever encountered that). However, I need to use my custom orthotic to get the right arch support, and I couldn't. The reason is that the heel of the shoe is so low profile that when I add a custom orthotic (which has a thick, contoured heel cup), my heel is too high for the shoe. I know everybody seems to be crazy about low profile socks, so maybe that was a factor in designing a low profile heel, or perhaps it has to do with the low drop thing, but I was scratching my head as to why the company would design a shoe in which they advertise that the insole could be removed to accommodate custom orthotics and not consider that doing so would lift the foot half way out of the heel of the shoe. I'm truly disappointed that these shoes didn't work out, because except for the heel issue the shoes are fantastic.

I wanted to live these shoes, the seemed like the perfect pair for my wide front foot and narrow heel, and they were great for the first month or so of wear. But, now, I can't even wear them for half a day with out getting terrible pains in my knees and feet. Thinking this pain was from something else, I continued wearing these shoes until I noticed the front part of my foot slides around ALOT as I'm walking (heels stay put). Theres just too much side to side movement and a "tall" footbed, the ball of my foot and toes are just out there with no support. I even tried adjusting the laces, no help. I went back to my old shoes, and the pain is gone. I'm a steady size 6 lengthwise, a perfect thumbs width from the end, but these are just too wide in the front, so sad :(

I typically wear a 7.5 which is what I initially ordered in this shoe. It was definitely too small and exchanged for an 8 in red. The 8 still seemed a hair short but has not caused any problems over 400mi. I like the secure fit through the mid foot which gives me more confidence in technical terrain and on the down hill. I just ordered another pair in size 8, this time in green just so I could keep track of which shoes had more miles on them. Fit is completely different, the shoe is longer and wider, higher volume. Double checked the labeling in both shoes to be sure they are the same model and size. Cosmetics/materials are the same. What's up with that? Super frustrated. This would be my "go to" shoe and would probably recommend the shoe if I knew what size to get. Afraid to order another pair.

i loved this shoe. loved the looks of it (blue/lime), loved the way my toes had lots of room, loved the fit. until i realized the pain i was feeling was due to the arch support. for some reason, it was a long bump which extended back to my heel more than it should have and was causing pain in my arch area. it extended at least an inch behind my arch and was extremely uncomfortable. no one else has reported this so either my foot is weird or this shoe was an anomaly. it's a great shoe so give it a try before you decide it's not for you.

The shoes are too narrow in the toe box. I wish you would be more consistent in the toe box shape and size amongst your shoes.

The width is perfect! My only issue is the outside ankle part of the shoe runs on the bottom of my ankles. Not a good fit there and causes problems. Can you design them with a lower ankle like the first pair I bought a couple of years ago. I'm back wearing them.

I run and walk in my Topos. I would like a little extra cushioning in the heel as my heels are sometimes sore after. Love the roominess in the toes and my arch feels supported.

I like the wide toe box and narrow heel but the shallow toebox causes pressure on my toes. In my most recent 50 K I injured three toenails with the shoes. I wish the toebox was a bit deeper up at the toes.

I hike 2 to 3 miles a day and the shoe on the wider foot is taking a long time to break in. The problem is the facing of the lace area, it is very stiff and irritating. 60 miles in and it is still annoying. They are otherwise comfortable and provide secure footing. I have debated returning them, but will probably keep them. I would probably not buy again. I would recommend them for average or moderately wide feet.

I loved the upper shoe. The thick bottom sole was nice but felt hard, no cushion/give to it. Also, treads are very thin, I would wear those out in a month. Will keep looking. Miss Hoka Clifton 6!!!

I usually wear Altras but the changes to the style I have worn for years didn’t make me happy, so I thought I’d try the Topo Athletic, which had high recommendations. I’ve had toe surgery and need a cushy sole, but after walking my typical 5 miles, both my feet were tired and sore across the middle. The laces were too short for these shoes, as an extra negative. The toe box was great as far as being wide enough to allow for room around the front of my feet. Overall, these may work better for people without foot problems, but I had to send them back and try for another Altra style that may work better.
