I typically wear Brooks, but my toes has been experiencing some numbness during workouts, the large toe box of the Topo was appealing. That is indeed a great feature, and aesthetically took some getting used to, as it felt like I wear was wearing duck feet at first. However, this is not a great shoe for cushioning. It feels like I’m smacking the road with every step. I kept the shoes for the elliptical, but will go back to Brooks for the cushion on impact exercises.

I like to wear a trail shoe for runs with more technical terrain (Mtn Racer 2) and a road shoe for smoother terrain, dirt roads, etc. I want a shoe with a wider toe box than my current Mizuno's but still had some drop. These shoes were amazing on pavement. But on short bits of technical terrain in between the smoother trails, my foot moved around way too much in them. Bummer. But again, these are awesome for pavement! Just not for hybrid runs. If I ran exclusively on roads, I would definitely keep them.

I usually try to get a 5mile hike most mornings in the foothills and pastures. My heel doesn't slip at all. I like the light stability while still being able to feel the ground underfoot. No break-in. Very nice shoe. This shoe is a road shoe but I would take it on a trail in the mountains. It holds up very well. Highly recommend.

Fit was a half size too big, at least. Shoe is so stretchy that it does not give enough support for my sore feet

Although I wanted a wider toe box, there are way too sloppy. Not a good brand for me so returned them.

I am a nurse and wear these to work. I'm on my feet 12+ hours a day and my feet are still comfy at the end of the day. I usually have to order wide in other brands but the toe box on these is great.

This shoe was so comfortable and fit my foot the best of any shoe I've tried.....but....I have problems with pronation and this shoe didn't have enough support to prevent my foot from rotating.
Unfortunately, I have to return it and will continue my search to find something similar but with more stability.

Love the overall fit. Unfortunately they are too stiff feeling under my metatarsal heads and irritate my hallux rigidus.

Really wanted my feet to love these. Sizing is off for me, the 9 my toes clip the inside top of shoe as I walk and 9.5 was too big. Natural toe box a huge plus, periwinkle color is very nice.Terrific shoe, just not right for me.
I'd also recommend:

Did a 12 mile hike with these. Nice to have the vibram soles which did a great job gripping. My feet felt a little more stuffed in the toes than the wider road/running topos. And I was surprised how much fine dirt from the trail made it into my shoes and permeated my socks. Wasn't expecting that.

I have 3 pairs of the original Ultraventure, and they are hands-down the best running shoes I have had in 40 years. My first pair has been retired with well over 500 miles on them. The two additional pairs have 200 & 320 miles and still look and feel almost new. I purchased a pair of Ultraventure 2 and am a little disappointed. They have less than 100 miles and the inside of the heel is already starting to rub a hole. Two friends with the same shoe (and also fans of the prior model) are seeing the same thing. Also, the toe on the new model does not have as much protection for the toes as the original, which had little rubber/plastic strips that were just enough to offer a bit more protection when catching toes on rocks or roots. The cushioning is good.

Honestly, I don't wear shoes most of the year because I live in Florida so I spend most of my time in sandals. However, I have problem feet and need a good pair of athletic shoes when we go on vacation and such and would be in need of a good, supportive shoe. My favorite athletic brand up until now starts with a "H" but they've made some changes to their most cushioned styles that don't agree with my feet anymore. I read about TOPO Athletic on a blog for people with "problem" feet. Recently, I have also been diagnosed with arthritis in my big toe so it's important for me to wear shoes with plenty of wiggle-room for my toes. So far, I really like this pair of shoes but I probably haven't had a chance to wear them long enough at this point to make a really informed recommendation.

After multiple foot surgeries and gait problems these are the best athletic shoes I have found and can rarely wear any other shoes- which is why I would love it if they made some more neutral colors to go with more outfits- please make some skin tone varieties and muted earth tones so I can pair these with ALL my outfits and not just running/athletic wear

I love the wide toe box that allows my feet to expand during long trail runs. Overall they feel great. The one problem I'm having is that they seem to expand within a few miles of running - they had loosened so much, I had to tighten them twice during a 14 mile run.

One pair for my indoor workout shoes at the gym, the second pair for outdoor walking. The most comfortable athletic shoes I've owned. Roomy are upfront for toes and good support all over!

I wore the shoes in the house for a day and they were fine. A few days later I put them on and my toes hurt. I'm not sure if they are to short for me but I'm sending them back.

This shoe runs a full size too small. I had to return and reorder. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that I wish it hugged my foot like the ST-3. I wanted a little more cushion, so I tried these, which feel a little bulky in comparison, but overall a great shoe. My ideal shoe would be the ST-3 with more cushion.

Love the wide toe box! I always wore Saucony but they have become too narrow in the toes for me. Please don't change them!

Overall, I recommend them for everyday use. Feels a little heavy in the heel, but otherwise light, with good cushion.

These shoes were comfortable, but I was put off by the stability post ("arch support" in Zappos language). I use running shoes exclusively for running (25-35 mpw runner) and have had good success with neutral shoes (despite being diagnosed as an overpronator). The professional reviews I read beforehand suggested that the stability post was barely noticeable but it was very apparent to me. The wider toebox is great. I ended up getting the Topo Zephyr instead, which is a true neutral.

I didn't even make it a mile before I had to turn around because it was rubbing. Now I do have an extra bone in the arch of my foot (an extra tarsal navicular) and that's what was rubbing. So most people will probably not have this issue. But I don't normally have a problem with running shoes rubbing here so I dinged it a star. I even pulled the laces out to use a different hole at the top, but in another mile, I could feel the rub again. I got a men's in the same shoe and no rubbing!! Now I'll be able to get a sense of what the shoe does, instead of wondering if I'll get home before a blister forms....

I love the general fit of the shoe, but I wish it had been available in a 10 1/2! I had to buy an 11 and have to make sure that I wear thicker socks.

I haven't done too many runs in these shoes yet, but what I have done has been awesome! I was so tired of my toes always getting squeezed together by other shoe brands; other brands seem to neglect the fact that people have a pinky toe, and I'd always finish runs with a pinky toe that's gone numb. These are my first pair of Topos and tbh I'm pretty impressed so far. I like how these shoes have the wide toe box, but still cup my heel and hugs the midfoot, so it still feels secure (I can't stand when my feet slide around in shoes). I also have relatively flat feet and these shoes have just enough support that it's not a neutral shoe yet still flexible, and unlike other support shoes I don't feel like I'm smacking the ground with concrete blocks attached to my feet. (Much less important than the shoe's actual mechanics, I also really like the crazy color combo it's wild but not too bright or attention grabbing, just enough for people to ask "hey what kind of shoes are those?") I have tried COUNTLESS other brands and nothing was making me happy or checking all the boxes of what I wanted in a running shoe. I have weird feet and I think Topo practically caters to that. So if you're fed up with traditional running shoes and don't know what to try next, Topo may be right for you!
