I purchased the new style of wide mouth straw lid and it's awful. It used to have a rubber top but now has a hard plastic surface which hurts my teeth and makes it difficult to drink. The other issue is that it leaks and it leaked over my iPad.

Disappointed as I purchased this pricey 40 oz water bottle about three months ago and already have to replace the straw lid. Its made of a rubber material that wears over time and I actually have holes in it. The company needs to make this straw spout long lasting.

Obviously with any straw cap, you're going to have some spillage with open holes (carbonated drinks and pressure differences when flying) but this cap has spilt a ridiculous amount. I wanted to hold back from a review just because I knew I wasn't the only one, but this cap has irritated me past the limit. There's even an whistling sound that comes from drinking, but it's inconsistent and I'm unsure how it's created (just another thing that I'm unhappy about). I'm away from home currently, but as soon as I return definitely switching back to the original cap or a different bottle altogether.

I bought the lid about 3 months ago and was very satisfied until recently. I've never dropped it or done any harm but lately the straw has been making a very loud, obnoxious noise whenever sipping out of it. It's loud enough for my teacher and friends to have gotten annoyed. I love the straw lid and have recommended it for may others but currently don't know how to fix this problem.

I had this lid for a while and it was great, but eventually the suction stopped working. I would have to hold the nozzle in a certain way to have a seal and actually get water. I did call hydroflask and they replaced it, which is awesome. I lost my bottle and replaced it, purchasing a new straw lid, which didn't work at all. I had to go to the store and return it. This product seems more defective than effective...I am glad update is happening because I love straw bottles. It is also frustrating because I had to buy a bottle that came with a lid, and then an addition straw lid because they didn't sell my bottle with the straw lid. This is a waste of plastic and a waste of my money. I should be able to chose the lid on my bottle when I purchase it.

My family and I are loyal Hydro Flask users and have always loved the 32 oz. wide mouth bottles with the straw lid. We've never had any complaints about the straw lids until they re-designed them a few months ago and we are so unhappy about the change. The old straw lids had rubberized detailing around the lid, on the handle, and covering the mouth piece, which added a key component to the lids being sturdy, sealed, and so comfortable to carry around and drink from! We have now purchased 3 of these newly designed version of the lids and we can't stand them. They seem to be harder to screw on, more prone to leakage, and 100 times more uncomfortable to drink out of the very hard plastic mouth piece. Please bring the old version back as an option to purchase!

Love it other than the leaking. It's not a few drops, my bottle will drain completely if not up right. Even if the straw is closed/layind flat down. Disappointed.

I have had my hyrdroflask for a couple months now and I've taken a really good care of it. Never dropped it, there are no dents nothing, but for some reason when Im drinking from it, it sucks air in so bad and its so so annoying. I saved up for a long time to be able to get a hydroflask and now this happens with the lid.

I put the water bottle that has water on the table and it turned out that it had a drop of water on it. I don't know how it happened but it has never been like this before.

I bought the 32oz bottle with the straw lid. I love the bottle, but the lid is poorly made. It has been leaking and when I am sipping up 50% air when I drink from it because of the gap between the nozzle and the cap. Barely usable anymore. Just get the classic lid.

Filled up halfway with gatorade and one ice cube because I only had one and didn't use a straw. When I went to drink it the gatorade leaked through an opening by the front. The water would leak through the little hole on the top too and when I opened the straw it the gatorate spit out. Also don't know if it's supposed to happen but that morning the lid was wet from condensation. I leave the bottle in my backpack most of the day so don't know if that has anything to do with it.

The gasket falls out easily and then the lid didn't work! I have officially had 2 lids and the same thing happened and it also happened to my friend.

In past experiences, when a company ignores such a glaring issue it is usually a sign they are getting too big to care and you can count on future issues across multiple products.
Test 1: tip bottle sideways/upside down with the new lid. It will leak.
Test 2: sip water. It will feel like you are sucking from a straw with a hole in the side.
Test 3: look at the threads on the side of the bottle. It will now screw all the way down.

This product is not nearly as durable as the bottle it comes in. It broke when I dropped it once on the floor, and then it would not screw on afterward.

waste of money because I can't even get any water out of the lid. There's barely any suction it's just bubbles and a little bit of water. I wish I didn't waste my money on this and just kept the screw on lid. I even got an extra straw to see if my first one of having and issue but the same problem happened. It's not worth it.

We prefer the straws but we don't like the new hard version- miss the old soft tip. And this version leaks out the sides and is harder to screw on.

I bought four of these for myself, the wife and kids. Can't drink through my wife's at all. You can suck some water up but only droplets, you get mostly air. Mine and the kids are like drinking through a broken straw. You get water but you have to push down on the mouth piece to ensure a seal.

I got it for Christmas and the seal for the mouth piece became loose after I removed it to clean. It no longer has any suction.

These kids have had problems for years. I'm seriously disappointed that they have not improved and/or fixed the design. I shouldn't have to worry about filling out paperwork to get a new lid every time it dies. I've gone through too many of these and it's so irritating. I just want a straw lid that will do its job and not eventually break on me wishing a few months of buying it.

I had the original silicone/hard plastic mix. It was AMAZING!!! LOVED the design, no hard plastic on my teeth it worked amazingly well. Truth be told, other than the splitting of the mouthpiece it still works amazing well. Purchased the newer "updated one", (all hard plastic) what a piece of .... Well anyway, first time I used it I had to play around with the placement of the mouthpiece to even bring water through the straw. Ended up throwing away the newer version and went back to the other. PLEASE go back to the first version! It is apparent with the newer version and the ratings this was NOT a viable option. Sometimes companies need to concede the newer model simply isn't worth the savings the company is making with so many unhappy comments.

I bought this lid to replace my old one, and noticed the design was new. I immediately threw away my old lid - which was a mistake. This new lid is awful. It leaks for no apparent reason - even if I keep the bottle upright! There is constantly water running down the sides of the bottle and all over my hands. I used to love the straw lid because it made it so convenient to drink out of my Hydroflask, but this new design is terrible!!! Do not buy it! I am constantly wiping away water marks on my desk at work because of the leaking issue. Very disappointed and I hope Hydroflask figures out a way to fix this issue (maybe just go back to the old straw lid!).

I have had 3 of these lids now and every single one has stopped working in 6 months or less. Usually less. Something happens with them where the seal degrades and they start to let air in while you're drinking. At first it makes a loud gurgling noise and is a mix or air and water and eventually you just can't get water and only get air. It's a shame a company like HydroFlask can't figure out how to make a decent lid when these products cost as much as they do.
