Arc'Teryx did a fantastic job with the Atom LT jacket. I absolutely love mine. This is the jacket without the sleeves. It feels great, lightweight, and noticeably warm. It packs small and fit comfortably under my shell and even heavier jackets.
I was uncertain over which size to get. I usually fit medium in everything (makes online shopping really easy for me), but I think a small would have worked better for me. I'm 5'10", 165lbs, with an athletic build. The sides are a different material than the front and back; they stretch and flex well to any core movements. Despite this amazing feature, the waist isn't tailored for athletic builds. I recommend getting a snug fit. I won't be exchanging the medium though, it works really well over a thicker sweater under my ski/snowboard jacket (different brand), which strangely doesn't have a lot of room in the sleeves.
The material up the neck does not scratch or irritate even after a six-hour hike. Very impressed.
The outer material is not very durable. It's a sacrifice for LT (lightweight), I know. My Atom LT jacket has numerous patches for getting snagged on branches and rocks. Please note, it is really, really light. I forget I'm wearing it. This is why I'd hope for just a little extra weight for more durability.

Superb piece of kit from Arcteryx.
The only problem with this is that the LEAF version is much better in fit, materials and features, for just a modest uplift in cost (and providing you can get one).
One issue in particular with the standard garment is that my pack has rubbed the outer material below my neck line. I do not have this issue with the LEAF version.
Apart from that, its a great lightweight, warm vest.

Overall a great layering jacket or standalone jacket with a long sleeve shirt. My one complaint bout this jacket is the tightness around the hips. I find that the fit is too tight in the hips which causes the vest to ride up marginally would prefer a looser fit and adjustable waste to dial in the fit. In the chest the vest is fine and sits well on my shoulders and chest. I run warm but i've worn this comfortably with a mid-weight flannel down to around 30 degrees. Ive also worn this jacket under my uninsulated ski jacket with a base layer down to 10 degrees and been quite warm. This is a must have from arcteryx.

I was looking for a mid layer without sleeves, when I was made aware of this. While I really have not had the weather to use this, in trying on, I like the fit feel of it. I can wear a 150/250 weight wool blend hoody under it, and its perfect. My only complaint is the zipper. When fully zipped to the neck, any movement of my head will cause the zipper to unzip the neck fully. Maybe mine is a defect, and I may request a replacement. Other than that, I like the vest as a minimal mid layer. Its light weight, and would appear to provide good core warmth.

I have this in my pack year round.
Winter ski touring as a quick layer for breaks. Summer guiding on the glacier as a mid layer, and in the pack for multipitch climbs during the shoulder seasons.
Only beef is that it's not warm enough on those really cold days.... (I also posted the following under the Cerium Lt vest)
I'm looking for that quick layer that packs small and provides more warmth.
The Thorium AR looks like a perfect candidate to be turned into a hoodless vest.
A quick snack and water break on the skin track needs a layer that packs small during those cold days.
On the Resort I can whip out the Vest for the chair lift and tuck it away for the leg pumping run down.

This Is a fantastic piece of kit, very very versatile. I am always wearing it. Scottish winter it makes a great additional mid layer or even just handy piece to throw over the top of everything when in a rush. I wear it running when its really cold. Climbing in it gives versatile extra warmth and its perfectly ok just wearing around Town.
The only reason it does not get five stars is I think the face fabric could be just a little bit tougher. I very quickly put holes in it climbing. Ok I know there is a trade off between weight, packability etc and its not designed specifically as piece of climbing gear but just very slightly tougher could make it perfect in my opinion.

This is a great vest that is almost perfect- warmth without weight, good range of motion, understated styling and good amt of room in pockets. The only problem is the zipper does not stayed zipped in its little "garage." No matter what activity I'm doing, it creeps down 1 or 2 inches. It keeps it from a 5 star rating.

I bought this to use together with my Alpha Comp Hoody. It just gives the extra level of warmth and windprotection.
The built quality is what you would expect from Arcteryx, but the fit suffers from the same mistake as on the Fortrez Hoody. It feels like a dress in the lower part, and when there is no strap, you can't do anything about it. Why make a fit for overweight people? I am 192 cm, and weight 85 kg and have it in large.

Great product. Seems rugged and durable, really fits my otherwise rather stocky build, and has a great, sporty look. The zipper goes all the way up, which ensures a good, tight feeling around the neck. Not as "cool" as the Cerium vest, but seems far more usable...

My wife just bought this vest for me in Tobiko, size Large. I am 181lbs, 6ft tall,44in. chest and 34in. waist with broad shoulders. The large has a close core fit. The XL was way too baggy and long. The loose fit would have allowed too much wind into my vest. The Large still gave me enough room to layer my Marmot flannel underneath with a thermal. It was still not too tight. I layered the XL but it was still too baggy in the core area. So far I have not had any problems with warmth. It fits nicely underneath my Alpha SL Hybrid. For other guys out there with a build similar to mine, your choice between Large and XL will come down to personal preference. I don't like my technical gear to fit loose or baggy. I prefer a close to core fit.

I have multiple colours of the previous vest (and jacket). I am short (5 ft 2), and this is a bit long, but the thing I really don't like is the higher collar. It is ok if done up, but open makes me look like I have on a Dracula cape. Sadly, I have had to send them back.

I love my arcteryx 3 jackets plus a gamma MX and endless t shirts and shorts. His was the 1st disappointment I've had with not enough insulation

Have owned this vest for 3 plus years and need to send it in again to have the zipper replaced for the second time. My Atom LT Jacket just blew the zipper as well. Both are XL and no I am not stuffing myself into these.
They do not seem to be overly robust as my primary use is that of a 69 year man staying warm and comfy while walking his dog. Both items fall short of their reputation.
Real pain having to send in for repairs again. Will eventually replace but not with an LT version.
Displeased,

Great product, although; in the 'old' version the inside of the collar had fleece like material. This version doesn't. It becomes sweaty and dirty on the inside of the collar in just a few days of wearing. Please arcteryx bring back the fleece like materials in collars of all synthetic garments.

I bought this vest because I own already a blue cerium vest, and the Atom LT hoody which I both love, and wanted a black vest to accommodate a different outfit. The vest looks great, is very functional with its Napoleon pocket, but it actually fails to deliver core warmth. I think I could comfortably wear this in 80 degree weather without breaking a sweat, e.g., if you need some additional pockets over a t- shirt to carry stuff, but at 30 degrees or below I found it personally useless as a layering piece, unless you use it for strenuous exercising, but for this there are better alternatives. To make it a functional winter piece, the insulation would need to be substantially reinforced.
