If you're thinking of getting one of these then don't, just buy it.Since buying this most of my other fleece jackets and soft shells have become redundant.I wear it all the time and it seems to work well on all occasions, from cool summer/autumn nights to cold winter days even down to -1or-2 (That's just around town even lower if you're being active going up and down the mountain)Looks great to wear around town and on the mountains.Took it with me on every 3 peaks training sessions last winter, every weekend from January to April (either Snowdon or Scarefell) and then on the challenge itself.I have left it a while to write this review (3 Years) and it still looks great and works well.Fits well under my Zeta hard shell for those really wet days but has a good resistance to those wet drizzley days without the hard shell also performs well in extremely windy conditions. I really rate arcteryx gear and this is no exception can't recommend it enough.

Was looking to upgrade from the Patagonia Down Sweater that I've had for two years so I wanted something breathable and versatile that I could wear alone without any other layers but a shirt. After I spent a stupid amount of time reviewing jackets from various companies I decided on the Atom AR. I never leave reviews on anything but this jacket compelled me to do so, it is so incredibly light and was everything I was looking for in a stand alone jacket. It is as warm as any down jacket without having to worry about the stitching or feathers leaking out of the jacket or getting it wet and worrying about ruining the jacket. I wear this jacket alone in weather ranging from the 20's-70's (degrees F) and I have no complaints. It is definitely worth the price tag and I would highly recommend this piece to anyone I know. I am 5'7" and ~150lbs and the medium fits very snuggly. I could have gone with the large as well but I like a tighter fit on my jackets. There is a reason why this jacket is so highly rated, 5/5 for sure.

I got this jacket for my birthday, and it has rapidly become my go-to outer layer for the British autumn. After opening the box I was amazed at how lightweight it was, and if I'm honest, a little dubious about the reviews saying how warm it was. I immediately put it to the test by going on a photo excursion along the North Sea coast before sunrise. Standing around for a couple of hours with almost no movement to generate any heat, I was nice and warm. The weather wasn't especially cold but there was a biting wind that brought the temperature down. The jacket is so lightweight that I sometimes forget I'm wearing it, and indeed just yesterday I spent the entire day at work wearing it, mainly because I forgot to take it off. Not too warm, for a classroom, not too cold standing on top of an exposed cliff! For a added warmth I would wear my Kyanite fleece underneath. This should do me until it's cold enough to break out the down jacket.

I don't understand what they were thinking when they decided to exclude grey colour for this jacket this time. Totally against it own revenue, I am sure.

This is an awesome jacket. It's lightweight, durable, and super warm. Great for everyday wear under my shell in rural Alaska where it gets as cold as -50F on a typical winter day.

I have always been told how great the Atom LT is, but for some reason I don't find myself wearing it as much as I wear the AR. I tend to run cold, but find this jacket to be great on most mild winter days. It is great for hiking and as a mid-layer for snow-shoeing. I am tall (5/10") and weight 130lbs, with long arms and torso. and have a hard time finding sleeve lengths to be sufficient. The Atom AR is longer than the Atom LT and therefore fits me better. I ended up purchasing one for my boyfriend, and he loves it, too (though he had an issue with the durability of the inside pocket zipper).

I upgraded from the Atom LT to the Atom AR and wow, what a big difference! I'm a small athletic build and needed a little bit more warmth for the dry cold winter months in Nevada USA. The awesome part is I still feel as if I'm wearing the Atom LT hoody as far as lightness and comfort. So far, this jacket is my number one all around jacket for every activity. So glad I made this purchase and would recommend this jacket to anyone!

This has now become my go-to jacket for pretty much everything. I've skied in it, skinned up in it, drank way too much coffee in it, sat watching movies in it...I have yet to sleep in it but I'm sure that will come sometime soon.

Ok. Let me start by saying I'm not one to write reviews. I bought this jacket two years ago (impulse purchase) on a trip to Whistler; and I never looked back. I wear this for everything. I often joke that it came with a thermostat because it's great for cold weather and mild weather. This thing is OUTSTANDING. On heavy alpine days, I wear it underneath my Beta AR (another amazing piece of Arcteryx gear) and am toasty warm/dry. It's also packable. Folds down very tight and packs itself neatly into it's own hood. My wife and daughter recently went to Scotland/Ireland and the Atom AR Hoody (Women's) was the only coat they brought. One tip though, for Acrteryx: Please make this exact jacket with an integrated "light" outer shell and you'd have the perfect everyday winter jacket for those sloppy Pacific Northwest days.

A beefed up version of the Atom LT! Has all the same great features of the LT but with a decent amount of added warmth which in my opinion makes it a much more versatile jacket. Its my main mid layer on cold ski days and it does a great job keeping me warm. I wear it on its on and its an extremely comfortable, keeps me warm and looks good! If you can afford the extra cash over the LT i think that the AR is a better jacket overall.

So I have both the AR and LT of the Atom series. The AR has many of the same wonderful features of the LT except the insulation is double in key areas and the sides aren't fleece but solid like the rest of the jacket. This makes for a very warm and wind resistant jacket that serves very well as an outer layer in most winter type situations without feeling bulky and excessive. ArcT is known for thier great fitting cuts and this jacket fits just right in all the right places. The cuffs are dreamy with stretchy inserts that hug your wrists just so. No adjustment necessary, they just fit perfect all the time! The hood has good coverage and has a toggle rear adjustment that cinches it up very well. I love the fact that it comes in a rainbow of colors as most people here tend to chose greys and blacks for winter outer wear. It's nice to see a fun color, wearing it is even better! I Would say the only negative I have is that that the handpockets are pretty small. I have to fold my hands a bit to fit them in the pockets, which is a bummer with such a warm jacket meant for cold conditions. The zippers and attachments are useful. The sewing is well done. This is the best winter jacket I've ever owned, and I've had a lot of premium jackets. There's a reason why I bought both Atoms, you can't go wrong. Sizing is spot on. I wear a Medium in most brands, ArcT is the same.

I'm 6ft 225lbs and originally ordered the XL and returned for XXL. They run a bit small so I recommend going up one size. Head and shoulders above any other jacket on the market. P.S I live in Alabama, so It will likely only be used 3 weeks out of the year.

I absolutely love this coat. It's by far my most utilized piece of gear. It's cozy, light, and doesn't look out of place if I'm just wearing it around the city. Features wise, the fact that it has zippered pockets large enough to fit my enormous phone is a huge plus. It also has a hood that fits over my biking helmet, which makes those cold rides much more bearable. When it's not raining I'll often find myself just taking this coat and nothing else. However, it works great as a midlayer under a shell coat. I would recommend this coat to any, and everyone. It's truly one of a kind.

My first Arcteryx jacket. I really like it. Its lightweight and a really good fit. Normally I am between a L and a XL. I bought the XL as I like to have enough space under for extra layer. The size is perfect with perfect fit for the armleght as well. I am 188cm tall and weighs 75 kgs. The front pockets is warm and big. Also nice to have a inside pocket for phone or wallet. Nice hoody also.

I was deciding between this jacket and the LT and I am so happy I bought this one. Was just hiking in Lake Tahoe and we ended up in a beautiful snow storm. It packed easily into my day pack and was perfect for the change in the weather. I was warm and dry, without the bulk or weight. It is so lightweight and warm!! And the jacket didn't snag when I had my day pack on. This is going to be go to jacket for the winter. I highly recommend it.

I love the Atom line as a mid-layer for my Beta jacket, i'm glad they started making the AR version again. I found the fit to be a little larger than my Atom LT and will be re-ordering one size down shortly.

Love the fit. The write cuffs are awesome. There is great DWR but in almost any cold climate situation, combined with a rho base layer and a shell, these jackets are incredible. Own a AR hoody and both leaf and jacket on the LEAF side. Those can fit a little larger.

The warmth of this jacket in conjunction with it's lightness impresses. Fits really well as a layering piece. I don't go outside without it...year round. Definitely worth it.

This was my insulation "puffy" layer for a climb of Mount Baker in early May. Conditions got into the low teens with the wind and at night and this jacket kept me warm. Threw it in my sleeping bag for added warmth. It is too warm for an active layer but perfect for when you have stopped climbing and need to keep warm at camp or when you are more stationary.

I've had this jacket for a couple weeks now. I spend 1/2 hour to 45 minutes everyday in it walking my dog in 20-30 degree weather with wind and just a t-shirt and long sleeve shirt underneath. I have never been completely warm through my upper body as I am with this jacket. This is warmer than the fleece liner/waterproof shell Columbia jacket is that I thought was the best ever. I was wrong. The Arcteryx Atom AR is the best I've ever owned.

Was looking for a warm jacket the wear around town during winter. This jacket has a great fit, looks good, and isn't bulky at all. I wear this jacket for light hiking as well and it can get a little hot. Perfect for camp or around town on cold days.

I'm 1.76m and 70kg, the jacket fits like a glove. I wear slim shirts and jeans (not skinny) and I have received more than one compliment because the jacket. It is really stylish. I use it daily in Barcelona, mediterranean weather, not so cold even in the middle of the winter but as I move with motorbike I like to feel warm even when the cold wind beats your chest. I use it also when I go to the north of Catalonia near the Pyrenees, the temperature there could get well under 0 and the jacket is more than enough for my needs. In case of extreme cold for me (>5), I use it with a fleece but I could use it with a thick jersey without any problem. I have owned also the Atom LT both jackets are excellent, but I prefer the AR over the LT because AR is sturdier and you feel it gives you more protection. The aesthetic difference from a third-person perspective it's almost insignificant.
