You've changed them, I have worn Merrill Encore Ice for over a decade. First you changed the sheepskin lining, then you redesigned the fit. The pair I bought last year (9M) never fit properly -the 8.5M were too small. But the instep isn't as high, and maybe for others it works, but not for me. This pair was a 9W and I just swim in them. They're going back. I'm pretty disappointed with the new design and fit. The old 8.5M for me perfectly, and I'm still wearing old ones.

I used to love the encore ice but this iteration if completely different and not for the better. I've had many pairs of these in the past but these are not the same. They have little support and are too big. Plus, the heel edge seems lower and my foot slips in the shoe. What a disappointment. Definitely not worth an encore!

I have an old pair of Merrills (size 9) that I adore & fit me like a glove, but sadly are so worn down I needed new ones, so I ordered a 9. They swam on me in the heel a good 2" and even the toe box was wider I wear a Medium) so I exchanged them for an 8.5M. Once again, I was disappointed with the same issues, the heel was an inch to long and shorted in height than the heal in my old 9M's and the toe box was way too wide, so that I just slipped right out of them. I am 70, so this would be a disaster waiting to happen. I again tried to exchange them for an 8M, which did fit a little snugger in the toe box but the heal back was again too loose and too low and I was again slipping, so back they went. I am a true 9M, in all of my shoes, I may even need a 9.5 or 10 depending on the cut of the shoe. I so wanted them, they were beautiful (black swede, fleece lined, easy on and off) but somewhere along the line someone made a big change to the width of the toe box and the width and height of the heal and it was not a good change. These are some of the most comfortable shoes you can buy (expensive) but when we are talking comfort that is really irrelevant. I did read many other similar complaints, so I am not the only unhappy customer. One other thing, the 1st pair of 9M's to 8.5M's they just exchanged (no fees) but on the 2nd return (8.5M's to 8M's return) even though I explained that the design of the shoes must have been changed, they charged me S/H and a restocking fee which I thought was totally unfair given the circumstances. So will try UGG and hopefully find something there that might work better. I would have given them a 0 rating, but that option was not available (mostly because of the customer service fee charges.) They carry a Medium and a Wide. Perhaps it is time to think about a narrow? I usually don' t take a narrow, but would have tried, if available. Thanks for listening.

I own 3 pairs of these and absolutley love them. However they changed the style. They are super wide and not nearly as warm or as comfortable. The lining isn't nearly as thick. Please go back to the old style.

What have you done Merrell to a once comfortable shoe? No matter what size I buy the fit is not good, the fur lining is not the same quality it used to be. Please go back to the original!

This is the 3rd pair I bought over 6 yrs. the first two pairs I loved! This last one doesn't keep my feet warm at all, everytime I wear them my toes are icecles. Never had that issue with the other 2 pairs. I walked out the store with them so can't return. Very disappointing

I had been buying this shoe for over 10 years in size 9.5. It seems the sizing has changed recently and it’s running large. I’ve loved them for the comfort and style and that my prescription orthotics fit perfectly in them. I’ve tried two pair and neither fit.

I've been purchasing this basic shoe for 15-20 years because it's a solid, easy winter shoe that keeps your foot warm. I'm from MN. I have a high arch and generally find Merrell supports my foot well. This shoe is a total miss. The arch support is gone, the quality of the lining inside is poor (in fact the lining came out of the shoe as I pulled the shoes from the box). The entire thing was hugely disappointing as I rely on this shoe to get me through winter. I found a better substitute with Keen.

These shoes are not what I expected from Merrill. The toe box is big, the shoe doesn’t conform to my foot, it doesn’t flex well and the color is way different from the picture. It’s more like a gray mushroom color than burnt sienna. This is the second pair of Merrill’s that I bought from Zappos and I’m very disappointed.

This was my 5th pair, and I hoped the reviews were wrong, but they were right. The old snow clogs were perfect, where these are sloppy, the lining is cheap & slippery, they flop around my foot rather than hugging my heel & arch. SO SAD. I usually wear my old beat-up ones rather than these new one because the new model are such a disappointment. They are also HUGE -- I bought 1.5 sizes smaller than my usual, and they are still floppy. Blech. I'm going to have to find a new shoe... maybe LLBean has something similar?

I have 2 other pairs of these from previous years. I love the new colors, however, they are such a disappointment. Every pair of Merrells I have owned (and I do have a closet-full) fit me like a glove, especially the Encore line. This pair is too wide and my feet slide around in them. They have little arch and heel support like past models. The sole feels flat and thin. My feet do not feel cozy in them like my others. They are also very stiff. they don't bend when I walk. The sherpa lining is thin and the bottom liner has a shiny backside which is slippery inside the shoe. They don't stay in place. Others say these are long, but the Navy Blue are too short on me in my usual size. (Strangely the Navy Blue Encore Breeze are also too short despite being the same size as the other 12 pair I have. I bought a second pair and they are also too short. So, what is it about Navy Blue?) Sadly, these are going back. My Mom bought me another pair from a different on-line shoe retailer. They are the same, but can't return for a refund. I am so disappointed in the decline of the quality of these shoes. I hope Merrell shoes in general are not all going in this direction. It has always been a brand that has fit me well with no "break-in period" needed.

I have had these shoes or something very similar for at least a decade. I always look forward to them when new as they used to fit snug with great warmth and arch support. My usual size 9 M fits loosely and there is no arch support. I had to put another orthotic in them from other shoes. Really disappointing. I have many Merrell shoes and boots but I am so sad they ruined a great shoe.

I recently bought these (my fifth pair of Encore Ice) and they are a disappointment. Every other pair I've owned has been wonderful. This pair, though the same size I've always purchased, is too wide and my feet slide around in them. They do not offer the support they used to and I am sad to say I can no longer recommend them.

These are completely different than other Merrell from years past. They were huge and wide and not the sturdy snow clog I am use to wearing.

This style of merrel is runs much larger than my previous shoes. There should be some sort of an adjustment in the size chart. I ordered a half size smaller and then a full size smaller and the shoe is still too large.

I've been wearing wearing these shoes for years I'm probably on my fifth pair. I've even purchased as gifts. They're super shoes for slipping on and shoveling snow and gardening. The last pair I purchased I sent back and ordered a size and a half down. They've drastically changed the quality of these shoes and they no longer hug your feet. They feel extra wide and my heel slips out. It seems they shortened the heel portion about an inch and that's why my heels flips out now. I will no longer purchase these shoes.

I had purchased previous version and loved them I had to return these, re-order and replace insoles with 2 sheepskin insoles stacked to get a reasonable fit. I'm done.

This was the second pair of this item - the first pair (returned), 7 M, my usual size, was entirely too big (too long and too wide). This second pair (sent in exchange), 6.5 M, was too short and too wide. The puzzle is that I've had two other pairs (both 7 M) that fit fine. I tried to opt of of question #1 because it does NOT apply. Fact is, I wanted my third pair of these shoes, which translates into 5 stars in those three categories.

These runs a little large but, since they are for winter wear, the extra space is good for winter socks. The main problem, and the reason I had to return them, was that the two shoes were of different shades of red.

Merrill's have been a favourite in my closet for both work and play. Love the Encore slip on design, however my comments are similar to others. Sizing is off, way too big and wide. Insole lining is thin, not secure to the footbed and shifts around. Regretfully returned this item.

Over the years I have always purchased Merrill's with warm fuzzy lining as my winter "go to" shoes. This year I was completely disappointed and gave up. After 2 tries to get the correct size - both my current size and a size smaller - I found that both sizes were significantly too large. I know that I could have kept on buying and trying, but it took more effort than I was willing to expend. (This is also one of the down-sides of buying clothing on line!) I'm sure that eventually I will try "fuzzy" Merrill's again as I do truly love them, but I sincerely hope that the sizing issues are corrected soon!
